In retrospect, telling someone off in English rather than her native Spanish probably was what cause this whole situation. Temes had been pleased on her arrival to find out that many people didn't speak her language, mostly because they were from other countries and therefore knew the languages of their lands and what have you, so she'd sort of abused that for the time being. It was only when she found out that not being understood caused her more problems then it was worth that she switched mostly to English. Things were going well until she called someone a name (it wasn't even that mean of a name) in a language that they could understand and, being about a third of their size, Temes found that they could easily manipulate her location.
So that was the reason why she was currently stuck to one of the trees near the border of the forest. She wasn't wandering in there, heaven forbid, but this was a tree that was at least close enough that she could see the other trees in the distance. So technically she wasn't even near the border of the forest but the panic in her chest suggested otherwise. Her quills had been used (for something that wasn't their intended purpose, Chuppi knew) to stick the young Chupacabra up high on the tree, the sharp points digging properly enough into the bark that she was held in place as easily as one would hang a tack on the wall. Even with her weight and her wriggling she couldn't get herself free, so when the group left her there and walked off laughing, the tears started.
So that was how she now found herself, hanging about six or seven feet off the ground by her quills and sobbing like a little baby all the while. Her Thermos was no where to be found, it having been dropped when the others decided to move her, and her stomach protested in its usual manner to only make her upset even worse. Life sucked today for Temes.
". . . Yo quiero ir a mi casa. A mi no me gusta Amityville no mas!"
Of course she'd be crying in Spanish! What other language was there to express her sorrow?!

Something smelled delicious.
Instinctively drawn to the scent of food as he normally was, the simple-minded swamp monster found himself happily nosing at a thermos that someone had so thoughtfully left behind. G didn't think he was normally this lucky, but he couldn't honestly remember. Still, no sense in looking a gift-monster in the mouth! Letting his jaws part slowly, the swamp beast happily scooped the plastic container into his mouth and prepared to crunch it to death.
Before he could begin, however, the sound of strange, sobbing wails made G slow down entirely. What was that? With a grunt, the monster rose to his full, intimidating height and lumbered towards the source of the sound, the thermos still stuck in his mouth. Oh? There it was! ...Well, he didn't exactly have to crane his neck, and instead found himself more or less eye-to-eye with some strange, crying, prickly little creature.
"No sad." The monster told her with a wilt of his ears, tilting his big head from side to side as he attempted to figure out what was wrong. His words were a little muffled from the thermos. The fact that the girl was, oh, stuck in a tree didn't seem to occur to him. "Om." G hesitated for a moment, brightened, and gently nudged his head forward, attempting to push the thermos into her hands. She'd have to take it from those teeth, of course, but that hadn't really dawned on him either!
Food always was good to cheer someone up! ...But that meant less food for him, and even as G realized this minor detail, it was too late to retract the offer.
...even if it smelled really good...

Chuppi had been rubbing her eyes to try to stop the tears for the past few minutes or so which had resulted in her neither hearing nor seeing anyone approach. It was only when a booming voice filled her ears that she even dropped her hands down, her watery and overly red (red) eyes blinking as she looked to see who (or what) was addressing her. She was rather surprised to see eye to . . . hollow blanks with a strange creature, one who happened to nose itself (himself? She couldn't tell) towards her with an open mouth. At first Temes didn't want to look at what he was offering, she didn't eat dead things and likely assumed anything that could barely speak would only offer her something dead/half-eaten, but she was surprised and somewhat overly delighted to see her Thermos.
"My Thermos! You found it and are giving it back to me? Gracias, muchas gracias!"
Completely forgetting that she was stuck in the tree and that this thing had REALLY BIG TEETH Chuppi attempted to reach out get her Thermos, only to find that the tips of the quills on her elbows were stuck in the wood too and that she couldn't move as far as she'd originally thought. It looked as though she was completely pinned in place, and her stomach gave a responding wail to the distress she felt. Tears that she had managed to stop by this point in time decided to well back up at the corner of her eyes and threaten to roll down her cheeks.
She couldn't get loose and her Thermos was punctured and leaking inside this creature's mouth! He didn't look smart enough to probably get her down either, what with that blank...eyeless staring and use of improper grammar, so Chuppi was resolving to accepting her fate. This really stunk, but maybe she could get him to help? He seemed friendly enough, right? Friendly meant he didn't want to hurt her, right? Temes didn't want to be rude, so asking was always a good idea.
"Do you...think you can get me down? I can't reach and I'm stuck. Please help?"

Ah! Happier sounds! G felt a tiny pulse of satisfaction, and the world seemed like a much better place now! Of course, that was probably because there was blood leaking all over his tongue, making him a happy beastie, but he'd yet to notice that, either. Belatedly, he realized that her little arms weren't able to reach the thermos, and his fins all wilted once more. That wasn't good!
"Oh." G rumbled at her suggestion, sounding puzzled, but compliant. He supposed that was a good idea, yes! Gingerly, the monster lifted his big hands and set them at her waist, suckered fingers eagerly suctioning into her clothing. Then, moving almost timidly to tug at her (there had been a few unfortunate incidents involving tugging before), he could feel the quills beginning to loosen from the tree bark.
With a sudden thunk as the bark was gracelessly mauled, the strange little girl was free, and G's massive tail smashed happily into the ground a few times. "Yay." He grinned, carefully setting her down before crouching, nudging his jaws at her again. Now she could take the thermos, and there would be no more crying!
G was very proud of himself. He had done a good thing!
"Trees are bad." He cautioned the girl gravely, as though he knew such things from experience. "No more trees, kay...?"

Chuppi was more than nervous enough when the giant creature before her seemed to be thinking, something she wasn't sure he should really be doing. She knew that she'd asked for his help and she was more than glad that he was maybe thinking about actually doing it, but seeing as he was so big and she was so small maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Given enough time she could wiggle her way free and the fall wouldn't kill her, but there was no time to speak as Temes felt a strong hand move about her body and start to pull her free. With a squeak and a little bit of protest (one of her quills did get pulled a bit too much) she was finally free and on the ground, her companion making a lot of noise and looking even bigger than before once she had to look up. When he offered her the Thermos again she gingerly reached in and took it out, unafraid of his teeth or the damage they could cause.
"Thank you....for helping me down and finding my Thermos."
The Chupacabra's words were quiet as she looked over her most treasured possession, pleased to see that nothing had been destroyed like she'd been worrying over. There weren't even any cracks in the casing and the lid still looked good, leaving Temes to be so thankful that her parents had provided her with a fang-proof drinking utensil. She took the strap (ignoring the spittle on it) and placed it over her shoulders, patting it with a smile that one would give when welcoming home a lost friend. She stayed like this for a few moments, rather ignoring her companion, until he said something about trees.
"Trees are bad? I agree. I always get stuck on them because of these."
Chuppi turned around and pointed to her massive quills on her back, noticing that from the corner of her eye she had several pieces of bark still stuck on the tips of them. She'd have to find a way to get those off eventually, but for now it wasn't hurting anything but her pride.
"You are lucky to be so big. I bet no one can just pick you up and smash you into a tree."

"Welcome." The beast said happily, a big hand reaching out to absently bat at the pieces of park still hanging off of her quills. Sharp! He bet they were, wouldn't be very nice to try and eat at all. Oh, not that he ate talking things--he'd learned a very long time ago that that was bad. Still, he couldn't help but mull over it, snuffling a little hungrily as he watched her handle the thermos.
She got stuck on trees a lot? "Got stuck in a well." G suddenly confided after a moment, his ears drooping guiltily even as he checked to see if anyone was listening. "Bad well. Bad G for swimming in well." Yes, it wasn't entirely the well's fault, in retrospect. Still, G had been less than thrilled.
Her words clearly confused him, and he tilted his head to the side for a moment, pondering. "Nope. No trees for G. Not think I stick to tree..." Experimentally, he placed a damp palm onto the rough tree bark, his suckered fingers tightening for a moment before he pulled his hand away. No stick!
Something struck him then. "Smash?" He rumbled, dropping back down to peer at her again. She'd been smashed up there?

. . . he'd be stuck in a well? Something as huge as him? Chuppi couldn't help herself from trying to picture such a thing happening, it sounded so ridiculous, and to her surprise (and perhaps a little bit of shame) her cheeks colored pinkish-green with a blush as she giggled at the mental image. It was only a few notes of a chuckle, her mouth instantly clamping back shut because she knew it was completely rude and just because he was nice now did mean he wouldn't decide to pick her back up and put her where he got her from. I mean, he was already easily reaching over to the spot where she'd been and he's already swiped at the few rough patches of bark that clung to her.
Yes, Temes, laughing at a nine-foot monster was not a very PC idea.
Maybe if she just moved along quickly he wouldn't realize that she was laughing at the idea and not him and maybe he'd forget she giggled at all. It was worth a shot since he didn't seem all that bright, thankfully, and Temes really really didn't want to be back up there.
"I...I got smashed because I'm little. People stick me to things all the time because my quills are very sharp. Trees, sometimes walls, other students. . . . "
Being stuck to a zombie one was not a fun experiance. Chuppi weighed a lot more than she looked and therefore she'd torn that other student almost apart when they'd tried to walk off and her body didn't move with then. She shuddered at the memory, red eyes dimming to a dusky shade as unhappiness at that took over. She actually hadn't done anything at that point in time to deserve what she'd gotten, but it seemed the vast majority of students at Amityville didn't really care about things that like. She sniffled at the thought, not wanting to start crying again.
"But you know, you're really nice. You helped me down, and you even gave me back my Thermos that I lost."
Chuppi gave her best and friendliest smile at the creature's face, still wondering how he actually could see her without his eyes. It was sad to say the Chupacabra's knowledge on what others of her general kind - monsters, that is - could do was very limited, since she spent all of her life before Amityville surrounded by Chubacapras and the occasional La Llorona. Of course coming to the school had most certainly broadened her knowledge of what was going on in leaps in bounds, but it also made her personality yank itself inward and the crybaby in her come back to the front.
". . . my name is Temes by the way, but you can call me Chuppi. What's your name?"

Thankfully, G didn't seem to understand that he was being laughed at just a little, his jaws dropping open in a silly grin of his own while his ear fins twitched. Laughing was good! No more sad noises.
If it were possible for the beast to blink, he probably would have, studying the little chupacabra with interest. Small and sticky.... Sticky to people! That sounded painful, and the swamp monster smacked his jaws a little with uncertainty. She wouldn't stick to him, right? He wouldn't like that one bit!
The sniffle made him jerk, a worried rumble floating from him for a moment. "No more cry." He said eagerly, his thick tail twitching for a moment. He didn't want her to be sad! "Ther....theeeer...mos is back now, yes." So that meant everything had to be okay! Of course, when she called him nice, the monster's head drooped for a moment, his fins collapsing upon themselves.
"G not very scary." He confided, looking a little put out. "Will learn, though, will try..." He was a little worried about frightening her off now with those words, and would happily take the distracting question.
"Chuuuuupppiiiiiiii." Well, he clearly was pleased with it, and almost forgot to give his name in turn! "Am Gar... Garga... G." There was a very heavy sigh. "G."

"G? . . . I like that! It sort of rhymes with Chuppi!"
It didn't rhyme at all, but then again English wasn't Chuppi's first language and she doubted her new friend could tell enough about anything to try and correct her. He was busy trying to say things like his own name, her name, and Thermos, all of which made sense and made him even less of a threat to her. It was sad to note though that he wanted to be scary, which shouldn't have been a problem considering how downright huge he is, but Chuppi nodded her head to herself about how someone's personality could completely prevent them from being a real monster. She was a good example, right?
"You don't have to look scary to be scary. I bet when you want to you can make everyone run away! I'm...not very good at being scary either. It's hard to scare people when you're very little, like me. Most of the time people don't even see me."
She'd been stepped on, but moving along.
"I bet when you roar you're scary! Or go running quickly, or smash into things! There's so much you can do when you're big! All I can do is screech when I'm scared."

Well, luckily for Chuppi, G seemed to think it rhymed as well; his jaws opened wide with pleasure, a deep sound pulsing in his throat for a moment. "Geeee 'n Chuuuppiiiii."
The chupacabra's words made him pause for a moment, his thick jaws shifting and grinding against one another. "Can be scary when poppin' out of the water." He concluded, agreeing a bit more happily. Of course, after that initial shock, it usually wore off pretty fast, and then G didn't know where to progress from that point.
"Roar..." The creature seemed perplexed for a moment, and tilted his head to the side. "Roooaaaaaaaawwrrrrrr."
There was an expectant pause. Chuppi didn't seem to be very scared. Maybe that's because she was used to people roaring, and it didn't work on her! "Small is good. Can fit inside places when smell. Can hide 'n grab people..." It was fairly easy to see Gargantuan when he was coming unless there was a nice, big body of water to stick to...
"Screech?" He inquired, looking curious. "Screech for G?" Maybe then he could figure out exactly how this roaring/making noise thing worked!

Someone actually wanted her to screech? Chuppi tilted her head to the side a she listen to G, her red eyes bright after having heard him roar. She could imagine him actually being pretty scary with his size going in and out of the water but she didn't know if he'd actually believe her. It was hard for Chuppi to say what she wanted to say in the way she wanted it done, but such was the common curse of the Chupacabra.
"...your roar is much scarier than my screech, but if you want to hear. . . . "
Taking a deep breath Chuppi turned away so G could not see her face, the flashing of her eyes likely would make him sick (he'd get sick anyway from the screech, not that she knew), and she opened her mouth. Without a second of hesitation a very high pitched shrieking sound was emitted, and as soon as it started several birds fell from the trees that had been surrounding the pair. A few more animals dropped down to the ground and wriggled before doing what looked like vomiting, though most stayed motionless - eyes wide open.
"Um. . . there. That was my screech. What do you think?"
Chuppi turned back with a mild smile, her cheeks dark red from embarrassment. Screeching on command was weird.

"Want to hear it!" G said eagerly, his tail already thumping with anticipation. This scary screech sounded fun, and he was all for any sort of fun! Of course, the actual sound of it echoing against the trees was enough to send a shudder down the monster's spine, and he was suddenly feeling woozy, disorientated.
It might have been an amusing spectacle to see the massive swamp beast swaying from side to side for a moment, stunned. Then, perhaps less amusing, G's mouth opened. Not just opened like normal, either; the entire top half of his mouth split in half. Though thankfully the beast didn't vomit, he did let out a few queasy sort of coughs, the lights in the back of his throat flickering weakly before his upper jaw folded up again, leaving him looking... well, as normal as he always did.
"Scary." Came the feeble comment, and Gargantuan had to sit down for a moment, giving his head a shake. "Scarier than G was." In truth, he didn't like the screeching at all! But that made it a good thing, right?
"You teach G how to screech?" Now that he wasn't feeling quite so ill, the beast was looking rather hopeful.

"I....I....."
Chuppi's stomach dropped almost into her legs as her heart took its place, her red eyes starting to fill with tears as her hands slowly rose up to her chubby face. Placing the tips of her fingers on her cheeks as though she were trying to prevent herself from crying, she shook her head a few times in an effort to keep going strong. Unforunately old habits died hard and she felt like the worst monster on the face of the planet for making her rescuer sick, and soon large tears were pouring down her cheeks and dribbling off her chin.
"Lo siento!! Lo siento!! I'm so sorry!"
A loud hiccup was followed by a wail, thankfully a non-screeching wail, and Chuppi buried her face into her hands. Her entire small frame started to shake as she wept, so unhappy with what her natural talent had caused. She should have been nicer, given him a more fair warning! It didn't matter that he wanted to learn from her, she'd made him sick!
"I didn't want to make you sick at all! My screech is a horrible thing!"

Oh! Oh! Chuppi... Chuppi was leaking! Gargantuan quailed at the odd sight, but would timidly attempt to slide closer at the wails that suddenly emitted from her. She was crying! G knew about crying, and would nose her gently with the tip of his snout. She shouldn't be sad!
"Chuppi no be sad. G okay, see?" He tilted his head hopefully in case she looked at him, his tail twitching.
She was upset because of sick? "No sick no more! G okay." Oh, it was making him nervous, seeing her so upset. He wasn't sure what to do, glancing over his shoulder from time to time in the hope that someone who was better with talking than he was would show up.
So, naturally, the only thing he really knew how to do was awkwardly (and gently) begin patting Chuppi's head. "Not a bad thing. G likes screech! ...Sorta. G likes screech after not sick no more."
"I didn't want to make you sick at all! My screech is a horrible thing!"

". . .But. . ."
Chuppi 's voice cracked as she hiccuped, eyes peering through the opening of her hands on her face. The red of her eyes was so pale that they looked almost pink, a sharp difference from their rosy red, and she blinked a few times as the tears continued to roll down her cheeks like sad little rivers. Her shoulders were shaking slightly and her toes were curled inward, but her sobs stopped the moment she felt a nose touch at her and a strong hand touch her forehead.
In fact, they stopped because Chuppi gasped.
No one had ever touched her on the head before to calm her down, mostly they just always stood there looking awkward until her tears stopped, so it was such a strange experience that she stopped crying all together. Her hands moved away from her face and she reached both of them up to her head, to G's hands more specifically, and she touched it as gentle as she could to make sure such a thing was really there. Someone was. . .comforting her. It almost made her want to cry more but she knew that would only upset G more.
"Did you...really like it? All Chupacabras can do it, but I...practice a lot. Mi mama says I am good at it."
