It appeared that they were taking more and more strolls through the streets of Barton lately, Hajari had noted, though this could have been attributed to the fact that MoogerMint had been rather antsy of late. She was tired of being cooped up in the apartment for so long, fixing it up to an acceptable living-level. She was finally happy with the way everything was situated, but now that she had the time to think about it, she had been working on it for a long while.
Mooger's eyes glanced down at the boy walking beside her, pinpointing certain aspects that she was both proud and ashamed of at the same time. Nothing he had done was wrong, it was more of a guilty feeling turned inward with how things had gone. He was older than before, taller, his feathers were coming in nicely, and if she could ever coax him, was in need of a haircut other than the trimming she was able to accomplish with a pair of scissors. However, with all the 'spring cleaning' she had been accomplishing through the past months to avoid going out in the blazing heat, she had neglected something that she pegged as an important goal: getting Hajari out into the world so he could gradually lose his crippling shyness! Not that the kid wasn't happy with what had been going on...
She heaved a silent sigh as the boy moved to grip onto her shirt, an absent-minded reaction to being surrounded by so many people. At least he didn't shiver as much as he used to, but she could still feel the slight trembling in his fingers as he wrapped them around the fabric. The kid always felt like there were too many eyes on him and his strange features -- he was even shy without any interaction involved, for Pete's sake! She was going to have to do something about this. Touching his hands, she moved them away so that what little grip he had on her was dissolved before she sweetly spoke, "Did anywhere look interesting to you? Any place you'd like to visit?" There were some errands that she was needing to do, such as the lack of food in the cupboards with all the time they'd spent being hermits, but there was plenty of time to take some 'detours.'
He fidgeted slightly with his hands, toying with his fingers together before one hand inched upwards. He shook his head after a pause, gnawing on his fingernails out of nervousness. Mint tapped at the hand, scolding, "That's a bad habit, don't do it. You don't want to get your fingers all bloody, now." She'd been trying to wean him off of that habit, but so far, nothing had worked longer than the moment at which she pointed it out.
His hands moved to grip onto his own shirt, looking apologetic. He looked about to voice his apology before he was distracted, a slight breeze blowing a delicious smell down the streets. "What's that?" he asked quietly, before the scent registered in his mind completely. Turning back to his mother, he asked, "Can we go to the bakery?" Such yummy-smelling bread, and Mooger had mentioned that they like to give out free taste-tests when she recalled going out shopping with her siblings.
"Hmm, actually..." she perked, a little surprised at the convenience of such a suggestion, "that sounds really good. Sure thing, let's head over!" She could even get some groceries there, while they were at it!

Keiji had needed a break and he had needed a break badly. He was used to dealing with the hell hound pups but that didn't mean that he enjoyed it when the two go bored and decided that they wanted to chew on him like he were some sort of angel flavored chew toy! It was after the pair of them had decided to playing 'odd or even' with his feathers that Shin had decided it was time to bring the pair of them out out of the house before Keiji finally snapped.
The blond had been grateful, so much so that he had hugged his guardian tightly before happily seeing the trio do the door, waving as they went on their walk. A part of Shin wondered if he would still be home when they got back or if he was going to slip off on a walk of his own. He didn't mind one way or the other so long as the fallen angel was able enjoy his down time while he and the twins were away. He knew that he asked a lot of him when he asked Keiji to look after the twins when business called him away from home for sometimes days at a time. That he seemed to ask for little if anything in return almost made the man feel guilty. This outing was an attempt at paying him back.
"The two of you really need to stop chewing on him all the time." He scolded them.
Yoko gave him a long, silent look that clearly said he couldn't care less what Shin thought that he needed to do before he looked on ahead, wondering where they were off to. The less aggressive of the two, Tsukiko, looked at his twin before looking up at Shin, giving the tall, powerful man who still held the position of 'alpha' in their pack a smile, "Keiji makes it easy." He said in a simple manner, giving a slight shrug before he to was looking ahead.
Shin knew that was how their minds worked, much like any sort of canine. Shin was at the top of the totem as the alpha dog and Keiji... well he was at the bottom, unable to fight back due to the fact that the twins were still pups. The blond was taken advantage of due to his kind nature, abused and tormented but he did nothing about it. He could only hope that he wouldn't be so laid back about it when they got bigger which was bound to happen sooner or later, "Regardless of the simplicity involved in teasing him I still think that you need to... what are you sniffing at?" He asked when he realized both had caught the scent of something and that both were ignoring him.
"Something... something familiar..." Familiar but... not. What was it that they were smelling? It was an old smell, one that they had known a long time ago but could no longer exactly put a face or a name to. All Tsukiko knew was that the scent made him excited... and for Yoko it annoyed him, neither knew why but they were determined to find out as a moment later they were racing on forward after the scent with Shin quickly following behind them to make sure they didn't get hurt or hurt someone.

"Anything you had a preference in trying at all? They have a big variety of bread... and cookies! Tend to have pastries, too, and..." Moogz started tallying off on her fingers, her eyes situated to the front of the two of them though not truly seeing, lost in her mind. Hajari's feathered ears folded slowly back, unsure of a decision after such a long list. After a while, the words beginning to drum an incoherent and off-beat pattern in the background as his mind began to focus on their surroundings again. Noticing this after a few moments, Moogz blinked and then snorted a cut-off snicker, "Eh, we can just see once we get there." Honestly, she wasn't even really sure if he had ever tried half the things that bakeries tended to stock up on. When was the last time they went to one, that wasn't fastened to the back of a regular grocery store, anyway?
They were almost to the front door, when Hajari hesitated slightly in his steps. MoogerMint kept walking toward the door, but Hajari had stopped, spinning slowly around when he heard the sound of feet pounding on the concrete sidewalk at a rapid pace. He was able to recognize that the steps were coming from two rather... short individuals, with the rate at which the feet were hitting, but that was only as far as his senses would register without having sight to rely on.
He had to squint through the slow movement of passersby before he was able to spot the two children, and even then it took a moment or two to register who it was. When it dawned on him, the slight tweaking at the side of his mouth, pulling into a grin, was unable to be suppressed. He was about to call over to them, but the hand he had pulled out to wave at them was immediately pulled back to his stomach in a cold, sudden terror. He had almost forgotten that he had grown since last he saw them, and now he looked so... different. He didn't want to be seen as an older version of himself, as he didn't feel much different. How was he suppose to react?
Fidgeting in place, he couldn't find the mobility to follow after his mother. She had, by now, reached the bar across the front of the door to the bakery, tugging at it slightly to open it before she realized that Hajari was no longer by her side. Glancing back over to the nervous boy, she frowned, "You coming? What's wrong?" Her questions fell on deaf ears.

The moment the pups spotted him they seemed to speed up that much more, racing toward Hajari who was... so much bigger now! Just look at him! Yoko was completely jealous, the fact that their friend had out grown him, to be that tall... how useful would that be? Tsukiko was less jealous and just in awe, just happy to see the feather birdy again. As he got close enough the little blond pounced the other boy, hugging him tightly, "Birdy-Birdy!" He chirped happy, tail wagging wildly behind him, ears turned forward.
As the blond hugged on the bird boy he looked over his shoulder at his twin who was just starring at them, ever jealous when it came to Tsukiko showing any sort of favoritism toward anyone who wasn't him. His ears laid back for a moment and he gave a bit of a glare before he crossed his little arms over is chest. He looked as though he might want to tackle the harpy as well though with less kindly intentions.
Before he was able to do so the silver haired pup was captured by the back of his shirt, "Behave yourself." Shin said before looking over at the feathery boy that was being clung to by the blond hell hound, "Tsukiko... you don't need to cling to him so hard. Let him go so he can breath."
The blond gave a little whining sound in his throat before tightening his hold on the bird boy instead of letting him go, a little worried that if he let him go he might vanish and he wouldn't see him again for a long while.

A meek smile and a stiff wave, it was difficult to determine what exactly Hajari was expecting as the twins had quickened their steps toward him. If nothing else, it was apparent that the boy hadn't thought to move out of the way or anything as Tsukiko tackled him. He stumbled backward, almost taking them both down before the hallux of his foot scuffed along the concrete, stopping their fall. And the grip, he wasn't expecting it to be so tight!
"What the--?" Mooger blinked back in surprise, picking up her stride to meet them. She halted after a few steps, frown turning to realization, before becoming a full-blown smile. Then she just had to laugh -- not only was it unexpected, the action as well as meeting old friends -- but it was adorable! She hardly tried to muffle it, either. Instead, through the fit, she tossed a wave to the three of them.
Hajari's ears pinned backward, turning to take shorter breaths so he didn't feel suffocated. The smile came back after the shock subsided, and he reached down to return the hug. "I haven't seen you guys in forever! It's good to see you again!" he chirped, though probably quieter than he meant it to be. He was happy, yes, but still a little insecure about himself. Yoko's glare didn't help him feel any more comfortable about it, but then again, he never felt that he had been fully accepted as a friend to him as of yet. With a slight, inward wince, he wondered if he'd be able to change that. Should he be so bold as to hope he could today, after such a long time apart?
He flinched when Shin appeared behind the silver-haired demon, at a loss for words with the decisive action made to look so simple. The harpy had just enough time to think in awe, He sure knows how to get through. He shook the thought off visibly, turning it into a response as well, "I-It's okay; I can still breathe!" Barely, maybe, but he didn't want them both to be upset!
Mint was able to gather herself in that time, steadying her own breathing from the exercise her laughter had given her. "We were just about to waste time before some errands. Thinking about going to the bakery just over yonder," she stated, punching a thumb behind herself to indicate the quaint little store marked with an orange-and-cream awning, "Care to join us? Or suggest anything else, even?"

Shin looked down at the trio of boys before his attention turned to Mint as she explained what their plans were, heading over to the bakery, and then asked if they wanted to come along with them. He seemed to debate it for a moment, not sure if he thought that it would go well since the twins were acting up a bit over the winged boy before he gave a nod of his head, "Sure, I don't see why not." It wasn't often that they ran into those that the twins wanted to make friends with instead of chewing upon so he really should see about allowing this meeting to go on a little longer, at least through the bakery visit he decided.
"So long as these two behave themselves I think it would be nice." The twin pups were given a look of warning that both met, trying for a moment to stand up against him... then broke the gaze and looked away, since Shin was still the alpha of their family and they were to small to stand up against him. Both nodded that they would be good.
As much as Yoko wanted to keep his brother to himself he was pretty sure that trying to do so wasn't going to make him any friends... as such he was going to behave himself and deal with the way that his brother was hugging on the bird boy.. for now at least. If he had his voice he would be able to threaten the harpy, tell him to stay away from what didn't belong to him... but it would seem that it was still to early for that yet, he would get his voice back come evening though with his luck the harpy would be gone by then.
Tsukiko looked up at Shin, to Yoko, and then back to Haijari, smiling up at him, tail wagging, and hugging him tighter before he finally released his tight grip on the other boy as he didn't want to squeeze him so hard that he passed out or anything.

"Hmm..." Mooger watched the twins as Shin gave his warnings, feeling that she... prooobably should have asked that question with a bit more... tact. Oh the guilt she would be feeling if she was a cause for any of the rambunctious behavior the two hellhounds cause! She bit at her lip absently, trying to wave the feeling off once she noticed the two younger children trying to obey.
Well, that is what she perceived it as being, at least. Taking care of a child like Hajari left her little in the way of knowledge when it came to the populace of the more active of children. She kept the grin on, in either instance, and motioned them to follow. "Alright then, we'll just take things slow. No need for too much stimulation," she agreed, though there was no way of knowing if there was already too much. She couldn't help it, though -- she was overjoyed that Hajari was able to make any sort of lasting impression on other kids' memories, and for the better, no less! Leading the way, she reached the door to the front once more so that she would be able to open it as they entered.
Hajari tried to hide it, but he winced slightly when Tsukiko snuck in another squeeze before the harpy could counter with an exhale. It was a minor reaction, either way, and was hastily replaced with a broad smile. He replied with a pat to his friend's back as the blonde boy pulled away, wishing he was able to grasp at more words than his silence. In an effort, he tried to start off with a more basic conversation, "How's everything been for you guys?"
Unfortunately, it was still over his head when it came to the twins' shared voice, assuming things rather than asking about the inconsistencies. In his mind, he was taking Yoko's silence as the cold shoulder. In an attempt to break it, he flashed a smile and offered a wave of his hand to the blue-marked twin.
As they neared the building, Moogz didn't hesitate to be first to open the door, standing aside to allow herself entry last. She took a quick glance in, trying to read the menu to determine what the specialty was for the day, or the week, ears perking forward. "Oooh, they have a nice olive loaf," she murmured to herself as she held the door ajar.
