Kafei awoke from a long nights rest, the bright morning sun hitting his face and alerting him that he had something very importaint to do.
While he was going through his usual morning rituals; stretching out, giving himself a quick bath, he looked into thick foliage he was about to embark into.
Anju had agreed to meet him in "their spot" once again on this day. The spot was convenient because it was relatively easy to get back to, but was also far away enough to keep their meetings secrete. After all, the two were from different houses, and in these dangerous and oppressing times in the pride, Kafei felt for the sake of Anju's safety that it would be best if they were not scene together.
Ironicly, their spot was also rather close to the now infamous Weeping Lion. A spot once held in high regards in the pride, that was now rarely visited by any others besides the extremely privileged and the Ligi who guarded it. It may very well be the safest spot him and Anju could meet, he thought to himself as the large purple and blue male began to venture into the jungle. They are too cocky to believe anyone would bother getting so close.

It was a beautiful day for a beautiful queen. Well, she wasn't exactly a queen. Not yet. She was a princess though! Sometimes Dada still couldn't believe her dreams had come true. Her siblings had been and still were distressed over learning Sahen was their grandfather--they made life in his home nearly not worth the joy and prestige it came with. They'd been particularly grumbly of late, and she'd not been able to silence them. Poor grandpa Sahen, he had to be hurting from their scorn. She'd spent many days with him, listening and learning and showing him that SHE at least knew he was innocent. Today he'd asked to be alone though, and so she'd opted to do the same.
She recalled a spot she'd seen when they came to the weeping lion before, a spot that looked good for relaxing--lush, secluded, far enough from the pride proper that few commoners would come by and outside the Ligi's usual area of note right near the great stone head. Ugh. The Ligi. She felt her fur bristling and her pace increased. They were always lurking and watching her and her family. Sahen especially had a few around at all times. Well obviously, he was the strongest lion around, they must know that if they didn't so unfairly outnumber him that he'd get free and run them off to save the pride.
Still angry about the whole thing she came loping into the little clearing and threw herself down in a huff. The dappled sunlight coming through the tree's branches went a little way to soothing her--the motes of dust caught in it were like little spirits come to tell her it'd be alright. With a sigh she closed her eyes. Maybe just a few moments of calm would settle her feelings.

The males large paws smashed the plant growth under them, creating a temporary path behind him. Kafei's tail swayed rhythmically behind him, and his ears pointed straight up for any sign of his new friend... nothing could damper his mood.
Not only was Kafei craving a close friend in the pride, but the girl was so ignorant to the dangers around her... she needs someone to look after her.
Shaking his blue bangs out of his eyes, Kafei looked up and could see he was getting ever closer the weeping lion and closer to their spot. from a distance the male could see... red.
Had Anju already arrived? He had left earlier to make up for being so late last time, and here she was, still waiting for him.
"An...!" His voice stopped as he realized what he saw was indeed a female with red in her pelt, but it was most certainly not who he was expecting.
There was a chance she was apart of the Ligi. Kafei's mind began to race, wondering if someone had seen the two embracing the other day, or if he had underestimated the scouting ranges of the ligi. There was always the chance too that she was just another regular pride member like himself wandering around the area and there was nothing to worry about. Until he knew for sure though, Kafei knew his best bet was to keep his cool and to not draw suspicion to why he was so close to the weeping lion.
"Excuse me miss, I saw that red fur on your pelt and thought you were a friend of mine." Kafei tried to act nonchalant about the whole encounter, and he prayed she wouldn't call his bluff.

Dada looked up and over her shoulder. Someone was there! She hadn't expected to see anyone here. The glade was fairly secluded, and near the weeping lion...who'd come here? Well she had but that was beside the point. She'd heard him calling to...someone. 'An'? that was an odd name.
She stood up and turned to face this newcomer. My, he was handsome, wasn't he? But all blues and purples...she much preferred reds and golds. "You did, did you? Well...that's alright. Would you like me to help you look for...whomever it was you were looking for?" She had a sneaking suspicion that this male didn't trust her, despite having just met her. Maybe it was how he was looking at her. Was it possible he didn't know who she was? Hmm.
That must be it. He DID know, and he was a ligi. That was why he was here. Well two could play that game! "I'm sure the two of us could find your friend, hmm? I won't be able to rest now until I know you've found each other." She batted her lashes and used her most sticky-sweet voice. If this guy was a ligi, and out to get someone, she'd see who it was, and then send him packing. She'd save this 'An' in the name of Sahen! What a great chance to start building up his reputation again!

"...You want to help?"
Kafei did his best to keep an enthusiastic smile on his face, but inside he was very, very concerned by this turn of events. He still knew nothing about this lioness, and luring her to Anju could be a terrible mistake. What a miserable day this was turning out to be; even worse was that Anju might think he ditched her if Kafei didn't get away from this lioness soon. "Thank you miss, I would really appreciate that. Two pairs of eyes looking out would be better than one for sure." He nodded and began walking in the opposite direction he knew Anju would be coming in. That way there was little to no chance they would run into each other.
"I'm still pretty new around here, and I don't believe we've met before. My name's Kafei." The Tama thought the best approach would be to try and gain her trust. That way hopefully, she wouldn't put up too much of a fuss when he tried to convince her that his "friend" just didn't show up.
