Usually it was hard to sneak out of the ranch after the sun went down. Mama Cama always made sure there were guards posted to make sure that unsavory wild pokemon didn't come and try to make a snack of all the eggs and baby pokemon that were about, and in turn they also made sure the younger pokemon didn't wander off without some sort of supervision.

Hazan had gotten lucky though. There was some romance going on between two of the guards, so while they were stealing a smooch he bolted, making sure to be as quick and as quiet as possible. Luckily no other guards caught sight of him. He would have gotten in a LOT of trouble if he had gotten caught making a dash for it.

He wasn't running away. No, he liked were he lived and all his friends. No, he just was in the mood for an adventure, as always, and he had a certain place in mind, the beach! There was a small beach south of where the hatchery was, and he knew that people were silly and always dropping things in the sand, so it would be the perfect place to go hunting for treasure!

He skidded through the town between the ranch and the beach without garnering much attention, which was good. It didn't take him long to get there.

"Where should I start looking first I wonder..." he mused aloud as he moved closer to the water to be able to feel the cool water move across his feat. Ah, that felt so good!

Flying at night was one of the few pleasures that Mewtwo - or as he sometimes referred to himself when he was in the mood to believe that he needed a name that didn't mark him as the clone of another Legendary, Havard - allowed himself outside of reading and running experiments in his home.

The moon was large and bright tonight, which made the water far below him glint with a dull silver. The clouds that kept his form hidden from the moonlight were tinted silver as well, and it gave the silent pokemon one of the few-and-far-between moments of pure happiness that he allowed himself.

At last, though, he became aware of a presence down on the beach, a young pokemon. A... shiny Chikorita? What was he or she doing down there?

Interest piqued, Havard went down for a look, but not directly into the grass-type's line of sight. No, the tiny bit of himself that was recognizably related to a Mew (the one that he would never, ever admit existed under any circumstances), led him to effectively conceal himself from the little pokemon's senses, observing his play for a long moment before he spoke up.

'What are you looking for?'

Hazan's head whipped around. He was SURE that he heard someone talking to him from this direction, but there was nothing there. Oh goodness was a ghost trying to play a trick on him? How exciting!

"I'm looking for treasure!" he said, unafraid to be pranked. He was internally wondering what trick the ghost had in mind for him. Maybe pushing him into the water! That would be fun!

He then looked at the ground, and a thin vine started growing from one of the buds on his neck. It poked at the ground and started digging into the sand. Soon he started using his forfeet to aide in the removal of sand.

"People drop things on the beach all the time," he explained to his ghost friend thing. "So I'm looking for things that they dropped. I've found lots of nifty things before, but during the day the people take them from me, so I thought if I came at night I'd actually be able to keep a treasure this time!"

Treasure? Well, this was a curious young one, Havard would give him that. 'Where will you keep what you find? If you keep it with you, it will eventually get taken again.' Not that there was much of value to be found on a beach, but the Mewtwo felt like the Chikorita should be prepared for what might come.

A ghost indeed; if he had needed any proof of the plant-type's youthfulness he had just found it. But the small shiny seemed thrilled with the idea, so perhaps he could indulge him for a little bit longer... keeping the illusion of nonexistence in place, the Mewtwo's eyes lit up as he exercised his power to bring some of the cloud vapor down from the sky, keeping it from dissipating or spreading and allowing it to swirl around the Chikorita like a living thing. 'Perhaps I could help you find treasure, if you tell me what kind you're looking for...'

Hazan stopped to think for a moment. "I don't think Mama or Abigale will mind if I bring a treasure home. It's the people I don't know that like to take them and place them in a place called 'the lost and found'. Whatever that means..." he said with a nod. Yes, as long at no one claimed it when he was going home, and it wasn't alive or anything, his family wouldn't mind.

He nearly giggled as the ghost cloud started to circle him. What fun!

"What kind of treasure?" he repeated. He hadn't thought of what kind of treasure he'd like. He just wanted to find something.

"I dunno...I like all sorts of things," he mused both to himself and to the cloud. "I guess something I can carry home. There's no reason to find a treasure that I can't bring with me..."

'Very well, then,' the 'ghost' said, trying not to let amusement invade his mental voice - fortunately he was rather good at that. 'Then perhaps you would be better off starting your search... here,' he said, floating the cloud off over to the opposite end of the beach.

'And work your way to the other end. Check away from the water line, if you want to find treasures that would be damaged by being wet, and near the waterline if you'd prefer to find the treasures that wash up on shore.'

Was the Mewtwo enjoying himself with this? Well, yes... it wasn't like the little Chikorita knew what he was, after all, and thus his identity was completely safe. And maybe the full moon was getting to him; that was always a possibility as well.

Hazan trotted along side his ghost friend as it pointed out where it thought that he should start looking. It was a good idea that's for sure.

"Sounds like a good idea to me!" he said as he began moving slowly, combing the water's edge. He then halted for a moment, thinking again before looking at the ghost whisp.

"I'm Hazan, by the way. Do you have a name?" he asked with a head tilt, curious. He wasn't sure if this was a ghost pokemon or a ghost ghost, but it didn't hurt to ask a name, did it?

'I do,' Havard said, leaning back against a rock at the other end of the beach, while his cloud-ghost continued to hover around the Chikorita that was now known as Hazan. 'But I'll only tell you what it is once you've found enough treasures.'

There. It wasn't stalling, not exactly, but it was still going to buy him time while he debated whether or not to tell Hazan who and what he really was. This was a pokemon with a trainer, after all, no matter how young and generally nice-tempered he seemed to be, that still made him a threat.

Perhaps he'd just wipe the memory of meeting him out of the grass-type's mind...

Hazan grinned. "Ok! That seems fair!" How was that fair? It seemed so to Hazan, but he was just a young grass type who just made a new friend, so he seemed rather pleased with the whole situation.

His eyes went back down to the water line as he began to look again for the treasures he was seeking. He had an even more important need for them now! He wouldn't learn his new friend's name if he didn't find enough!

Really, if the Mewtwo was going to tell Hazan his name in any form, it would only take about two or three treasures. But in the meantime he still had to figure out what to do. Sure, the young pokemon thought that he had made a friend here, but the Chikorita also thought that he was talking with a ghost.

He could leave right now and the grass-type would never even know he'd been here... Just like many others that he had been intrigued enough by to spend time around.

It was a sobering thought, and one that caused the psychic's eyes to darken and the misty cloud to disperse.

Hazan looked up, about to ask the ghost if he considered this nifty looking shell a treasure, but the ghost was gone.

"Hey! Where'd you go?" he called before sighing. Maybe he didn't think of Hazan as a friend...was that the trick? That was one trick he had not been expecting.

No, that couldn't be it. He wouldn't allow it. Maybe the ghost got tired. Maybe being a cloud was hard for the ghost, and Hazan made him work too hard for too long.

Hazan went to work, gently digging out the shell. It was a beautiful shell, a color of blue and green that one doesn't see very often. A very pretty treasure indeed. He looked around and saw a rock. That'd be a good place for what he had in mind.

Unknowing of the hidden pokemon on the other side, he wrapped his vine around the shell gently and sat the shell on top of the rock. He patted the shell gently before retracting his vine back into his bud around his leaf.

"Mister ghost, I'm sorry I made you tired, or scared you away...or whatever I did wrong. I want you to have the treasure I found. It's a pretty shell. I've never seen one of this color, I think it's probably rare. I hope you like it mister ghost, and I hope...if you want, if we could play again sometime?" He gave a small sigh. "You're probably tired though. It must be hard to keep yourself visible, so I should probably let you rest..."

You'd have to have a heart made of stone to not feel sympathy for the tiny pokemon and his offering of friendship. As much as Havard liked to think he had such a thing, he didn't, and he was secretly moved very deeply by the baby Chikorita's plight.

A shake of his head and a soundless sigh later (for the Mewtwo could make a vocal sound if he had wanted to, which left him rather grateful for his telepathy), the pretty shell floated up in front of Hazan's eyes and moved in a lazy pattern down the beach - towards the Mewtwo, although Hazan couldn't know that.

'Calm down, small one. I haven't left yet,' he said as he made the shell float around lazily. 'You did nothing wrong... and I apologize for deceiving you.' He didn't explain his apology - the grass type would see what he meant, soon enough.

Hazan watched as the shell began to move. While he really wanted to follow it, he felt like he shouldn't. It was an inner feeling, not of fear or anything like that. The best way to describe it was respect. He was trying to respect his ghost friends privacy, but then again, was it a ghost? As he thought for a moment, he knew of a couple pokemon that could move things like that. What was the type called again? Oh! Psychic, that's the type!

"It's okay," he said with a smile, sitting down on the sand, eyes still on the shell. "Everyone has their reasons for not being truthful. I'm sure your reason is a good reason," he said with a nod. He wasn't sure what he was apologizing for, but even if he knew, Hazan would forgive him. It was just how the grass type worked.

'One day you'll learn not to give your trust so easily," Havard said thoughtfully, continuing to draw the shell slowly toward him. 'I wish for that day to be long in coming,' he added, staring at Hazan intently.

'You have nothing to apologize for, aside from your innocence. I assure you, that is nothing to be ashamed of.

Once the shell had moved close enough, Havard let it fall into his hand and clasped it, at the same time removing his subtle perception-filter from the Chikorita's mind. It was a conscious decision, a choice to risk exposing himself to this genuinely trusting grass-type. If things went badly, well, there was still the option of memory erasure, although the Mewtwo wasn't exactly looking forward to that possible outcome.

There was also the -extremely small- possibility that the smaller pokemon wouldn't react badly, but Havard was hardly willing to let himself entertain that sort of thought. It was entirely too hopeful for a pessimist like him.

He appeared out of nowhere, this...what was it? It seemed very pokemon in nature, but he had never seen a pokemon like this before.

The Chikorita trotted towards the pokemon to get a closer look at him.

"Wooooooow, you're a lot taller then I was expecting!" he said with awe, a big smile spreading across his face. He ran in a tight circle before sitting down, looking at the large pokemon again.

"This is so cool! You're bigger than Mama Cama!" he said before squinting at him, as if imagining the Camerupt next to Havard. "Only by a little though..." he commented finally before grinning again.
