It was mid-afternoon, and a very large and chubby looking lion had just finished some lunch. He'd decided to stroll a bit away from his den to find it, just for interest's sake and so when he headed home, it'd be just around time for dinner! And then he could snag something on the way back to the den!
Proud of his plan, Abiria sat in the sun, humming to himself, and wondering where much if there were any interesting lions in the area to say hello to before he left. Well, lions or anyone else.

Sadiki was STILL out in this cursed heat. It annoyed him, really, how hard it was to find a suitable female cheetah. Were they extinct? Sadiki was starting to think so. He was tired of wandering, tired of being away from his pride, and very tired of the happenstance meetings that seemed to occur on a very regular basis.
Today would be no different.

"Oh, hello." Abiria greeted, blinking as he saw a very overheated looking cheetah walk by. Wow, when was the last time he'd seen one of them? The lion had been getting to think they were extinct.
"Been a while since I've seen one of you in these parts." the lion commented, not really concerned with the fact that Sadiki probably didn't want to talk to him.

Sadiki hadn't seen the lion that spoke to him, so when the big feline spoke it startled Sadiki enough that he jumped. Now, Sadiki would never admit that he'd jumped, but he did. With a glare he scowled at the lion, his heart racing a billion miles a minute.
"That's just rude, you know," he spat, ignoring the kind greeting of the lion. "You really shouldn't startle strangers. That sort of thing can get you in trouble. Are you dim?"

Abiria blinked. He'd been sitting right in the open - was it really so startling that he spoke? Or maybe this cheetah just hadn't seen him. Oh well, wasn't that important, now was it? "I can't help if you didn't see me." he replied with a shrug, "Sorry I startled you just the same."

Sadiki snorted. He was not in the mood for stupidity, not that that was unusual. The longer he was away from his pridelands, the grumpier he got. He was nearly fed up, and had plans to give this futile mission one last day before he returned home, a failure.
"And what do you mean by "one of you"?" His voice was sour, his expression pinched, and ears flattened menacingly against his skull. Sadiki was in a foul mood indeed... not that this was anything new.

"I haven't seen any cheetahs in these parts for a very long while." Abiria replied calmly. He wasn't really too worried about Sadiki being grouchy - he'd already met that old lion b*****d, Joto'Damu and hadn't been too worried by him either. "Most of the ones who lived in the area moved some time ago."

"So I've noticed," Sadiki spat grouchily. He had yet to run into a cheetah, let alone a suitable one. "I'm beginning to think I'm the only cheetah left on the plains." He snorted to himself, his tail lashing about in utter annoyance. Though the cheetah was grumpy and cranky, he was still high-ranking in his pride and out of mere habit he introduced himself.
"I am Sadiki," he said simply, figuring now was as good a time as any for a small break from his seemingly aimless wandering.

Abiria refrained from commenting that he was getting to be pretty sure the other male was too. That or Sadiki'd just scared all of the others off, but that was rude to say and only funny to him.
Smiling brightly, the lion nodded, "Good to meet you. I'm Abiria." not a particularly grand name or position, but hey, it was his and he liked it.

Sadiki acknowledged the other's introduction with a curt nod before he seated himself, wrapping his tail around his feet. "You live here? What is your purpose?" Sadiki firmly believed that everyone and everything had a purpose. Himself, for example. Council member of the Intaba'umbikezeli. It was a position of some authority. Maybe that's what lent the cheetah his holier than thou attitude? It wasn't like what the lion had to say would have any importance to Sadiki. The cheetah was merely going through the motions, pretending to be nice.

"Oh no, I live a ways away." Abiria said calmly, not bothering to move from his seat. "And what do you mean by purpose?" What a funny way to ask him what he did all day. Or in general - really, he was just a happy bachelor for the most part. He'd have cubs when he did and probably raise them as he pleased. Really, what more did a lion need than that?

Sadiki frowned. "What pride do you call home? What duties do you attend to?" Sadiki firmly believed that every feline should belong to a pride of some sort, and that they should be productive members of their society.
Of course, one couldn't expect a lion to live to high standards. Sadiki would never admit that his militant personality could even be offputting to his own pridemembers let alone strangers, but tha was neither here nor there.

Abiria shrugged, "Oh, no pride. I've been on my own since I was young and I'm pretty happy that way." he replied as if it really didn't matter too much to him. Well, because it didn't. He had a happy home after all.

Sadiki bit back a sneer, making a definite effort to be a little friendly. He couldn't help it that he'd had little luck finding a female cheetah to provide him with offspring. It was making him feel a little more snarkier than usual, that was all.
"I see," Sadiki said distastefully, fighting the urge to go on about the lion's lax morals. "And that suits you, I suppose?"

"Yes, it suits me just fine." Abiria agreed, "I have no want of interesting company that passes by my den, and there's plenty of food and water. A pretty good situation, I would think." His spirits seemed to be unable to be dampened by anyone's bad moods. Which was probably good for him.
