User ImageA clever cub, at least by his own estimation, Mirsajadi had predicted correctly that today would be extremely windy. He had based his own prediction on that of an older lion who had a way of knowing it would rain. Mirsajadi had guessed that the rain would be preceded by violent gusts of wind.

Ordinarily, Mirsajadi would have felt very pleased with himself for having made such a guess, but in this instance he was both gratified and annoyed to have been proven correct, and more annoyed than gratified. Anyone could guess that wind would precede rain - though it had yet to rain - and in the meantime he had to be out in the elements, which he did not enjoy particularly.

However, it seemed to be of importance to his family that he go out and meet other cubs in the pride and so that was what he was doing. The fact that the wind was stirring up all kinds of dust and debris made the going a little perilous, but he thought it was probably better than that hellaciously hot day a few days past, when he thought he might really burst into flame.

As he squinted against the wind, Mirsajadi's gaze fell on a smaller figure with a coat in earthen colors. He had never seen that cub before, and so he began to make his way in that direction, ignoring the wind as it buffeted at his flanks and pelted him with small bits of flotsam.

It was windy. Dear gods it was WINDY. And Firuza had gotten caught out in it. She'd panicked a bit, having lost the flowers she'd been gathering for her mother, and then nearly been blown over! Deciding maybe gathering flowers would be best for another day, she'd started back towards the den, hoping she'd be able to get a bath from her mother.

Especially now that she was rather dusty, and had bits of foliage stuck in her fur. She whined a bit, then blinked when she noticed another earthy-colored figure coming her way. Eh? She stopped and squinted a bit...then sighed. Great. A boy. She sat, waiting. It was obvious he was headed her way.

When he was close enough to actually see details on the smaller cub, things like markings and eye color, Mirsajadi was also close enough to notice that the other cub was not only smaller, but female. He couldn't imagine what a banu that young would be doing out alone, having conveniently forgotten that when he'd been that age he'd spent a lot of time away from the den - as much as he could manage, in truth - and that he'd met a number of banu who were similarly unaccompanied. That's how he'd met his best friend, after all.

"Are you all right?" he called out. "Do you need any help?"

He knew banu weren't important enough to bother with, usually, but a large part of him said that this one might actually need his assistance. Having gotten more or less accustomed to walking in and contending with the wind, Mirsajadi felt confident that he was just the pesar for the job. His father might even be impressed if he did something heroic, and for Mirsajadi that was his dearest wish. Impressing his father, that is, and earning a few words of praise.

Firuza actually perked up when he offered help. Huzzah! A boy who wasn't going to look down his nose at her in such a state! The brown-y cub nodded. "I do. I'm afraid I got caught off guard by this windstorm." She could be allowed such off-moments...after all, she was still a cub!

Mirsajadi was squinting against the dust and debris being blown around, but his vision wasn't so obscured that he couldn't see that the little banu he was speaking to was thoroughly windblown. He probably didn't look much better, actually, which was partly why he decided not to say anything.

"Where were you headed? Home or away from home?"

The striped pesar had no idea where the banu's home might be, but he was reasonably certain she would be able to figure out where she lived with prompting. If she was going elsewhere, however, he could be helpful probably. If nothing else, he could probably serve as a windbreak.

"I'm Mirsajadi, son of Vizier Tariq'ra'd, by the way." Introductions and good manners were important.
