Skinny Jeans. Can I just rant a bit that they are EVIL!!!!! evil Seriously. You have to have the tinniest legs to wear them. I did gymnastics for years and so I have muscular legs. I normaly wear like a size 8 but this new skinny jeans craze meansI gotta go up to like a 10 or 12 to get jeans to go over my flippin calves. crying It is HELL on my self esteem and body image. I for one will be GLAD to see this fade go away. And WHY are we recycling 80's fashion? As a gal that grew up in the 80's can i just say the clothes for the most part sucked when they were new, now its just depressing. So feel free to rant with me or tell me the merits of what I personally call chicken leg jeans and Barbie clothes.

But-but Audrey Hepburn made them look so cool!
lol jk rofl
I hate anything that clings to my shins! I really can stand the sensation of any kind of cloth touching my shins or forearms. It irritates me like sand in an oyster except no pearls will come out of that unholy union!
As you can probably guess, I'm rather fond of flare and boot-cut jeans! :3 (capris and flood pants are ok too, but I hate shorts as much as I hate stuff touching my shins)

LMAO @ both of you.
I live on a totaly different planet.
I love skin tight clothing. I feel uncomfortable in allot of loose clothing. Boot legs make me look like I am on stilts on the circus tend it's self. I am long and thing and flared any thing is just waiting for some one to use me for shade (It insults me when short people use me for shade NJ!)
I have learned to live with flooded since young days. Do you know how stupid a person looks in flooding boot cuts ?
I also have broad shoulders and loose shirts make me look like a ....teenage boy from the back. (Use to be the front and the back...Thanks you nature!)
Audry Hep Is one of my style role models.
I am not looking forward to or expecting the fad to go away. Because at this stage in fashion. there are really no "fads" to be had. It is all just warmed up repeats. Flared jeans will be back. And when they are skinny jeans will stay in style.
There is a new Dawn in fashion coming towards humans. Every thing is going to be in style at the same time eventually.
It will get extreme. I for see this. We shall all one day dress how we really see our selves. It's inevitable.

I already dress how I see myself! xd Seriously you should see my wardrobe! I have bright colored and some glittery collared button-downs with unusual patterns! Some of them look like '60s British Invasion! rofl
@Vita: Sucks to be you! xd jk jk. I have the typical Latina figure of my peoplez (huge chest an badonkadonk booty!) It's really hard for me to shop for clothes because shirts big enough to fit over my boobs hide my figure (square torso as opposed to hourglass) unless cinched at the waist (which I hate). With pants, pants big enough to complete the journey over my @$$ are often wide enough at the waist to billow out unless I wear a tight belt to cinch it in causing it to poof a bit unattractively under the belt just before my hips! gonk
I'm not gonna even get into finding a freaking bra! scream
And the shoes! Oh gosh the shoes! gonk It's hard enough finding good stylish shoe at size 11 (thanx a lot DAD! Everyone in Mom's family has little feet! But Dad!? Bigfoot!) but see, I love thick soled sneakers and boots (and platform heel boots, no high heels though)! But I can't freaking wear them! You know why!? Because I'm 5 freaking 8! one high-heel taller and I'll over shadow Superman! (Thnx again Dad!)
i'm done emo ranting now. . . . . emo

Ugh. I WISH I had y'alls highth issues. I'm 5'4. and curved.. Too curved for my tatses. My man thinks its nice that I have a butt and boobs and meat on my bones but I am so NOT pleased. All the cute stuff I'd love to wear is so bloody unsightly on me. I am too short for most skirts and pants. I got too much leg and butt to do the cute tighter shirts. My mom says I'm a hippie born in the wrong decade. I love bootcut jeans and flowy shirts. I like the idea of everyone being able to wear whatever they like, as long as Punky Brewster doesn't come back into style its all good. And Audrey Hepburn is awesome. I love style that is classic and yet versitile. I like to believe true style never expires.

I have what I call "Me Style". It consists of jean shorts and pants and tons of cute dresses and cute tops. I just love a cute top but I'm so dang poor. There's good stuff at Wal-Mart though. Thank God. But usually, I'll just put on what feels good. If I feel uncomfortable, I won't wear it. I honestly don't care what people think of my style, look, or anything. If I want to dress in an old t-shirt and worn jeans, that's my buisness. If it shows my little roll of fat, fine. Deal with it. My boyfriend thinks I'm f***ing hot. I'm not self consious about my body because it's what's on the inside that counts. I'm still me no matter what I put on. That's my little speech today. biggrin

^^^^ Most people have that too. But there are some that don't do that and are zombified by pop culture.
When I hang out with friends, we all know that hey, we're wearing what we think is comfortable and cute. The key in shopping is to buy the things that you like, feel great and look good. Looking good isn't really entirely pop culture anymore. It's gone down to the fact where almost everything is accepted. I personally like skinny jeans. I don't wear them because I am a slave to pop culture, but because I like how I look in them. But that doesn't mean I wear bleached, knee-bare jeans either.
5'4" is a good height! I don't know what you're talking about. I'm 5'3" + half an inch or so and I can wear most skirts and bottoms. But we have different tastes, so that's probably why.
I'm more of an elegant/classy feel kind of girl. I do love my hoodies though . . . <3

My typical outfit would be straight leg jeans, a vest top or t-shirt, a shirt/jacket/cardigan and a pair of converse. I like comfort, but I have to be careful about what I wear. If I choose the wrong shapes or fits or necklines I look like a guy. My short hair and not-exactly-girly manner don't help.
I keep things simple most of the time (I'm lazy like that) but I do like the occasional...uh...statement piece. Like the vertically striped jeans I found in a charity shop for less than £2.

Ergh skinny jeans. Just not cool.
I personally hate smock style tops, unflattering on everyone, UGGS and crocs. They may be comfy but they're so so ugly.
I do love tight fitting clothing but I have my limits, skinny jeans just no...really no. They either make it look like you have twigs for legs or are much larger than you are.
My other fashion rant is: VANITY SIZING in the UK it's really really bad. I struggle to get adult clothing small enough for me. I'm 5ft 4" and a UK size 6 (as per the measurement guide) which translates through as a US size 2 I think. I have to buy my bras from a specialist shop that caters for odd sizes (28E/F) which cost me £25 a piece. As opposed to regular sizes (32" back +) which are on average £16 a piece. I know supply and demand is the issue...but the shops that do sell that size keep pointing out how LARGE the demand actually is. They've actually been bothering the few brands that make bras in my size to make a larger range of swimwear for the 28" backsize rather than the 1 bikini per year they currently make. It bugs me that I've forever seeing plus size clothing shops, yet no one caters for the slim people anymore.

This thread is going to be removed by 2011. And replaced with a new skinny jean thread. If you would like the task of making the second SJT then let me know. If you are wondering why I am scraping this thread then send me a PM. One Witchy Woman Ugh. I WISH I had y'alls highth issues. I'm 5'4. and curved.. Too curved for my tatses.
