I just brought the first manga having seen the anime, which was really good. And I found out the the manga, like 90% of the time, is 10 times better then the anime. Not only that, but it covers a
lot of things they miss in the anime, which in turns answers your many questions.
About Earthian:(From the BLUmanga site. Can be found
Here)
It's present day, and Archangel Michael is fed up with the pathetic development of the human species. The angels, in their world high above ours, have been given the choice between destroying or preserving humanity. This will be decided by having "Plus Checkers" looking for good points and "Minus Checkers" looking for bad points, and whichever finds 10,000 points first decides the outcome. Chihaya and Kagetsuya are angels who have known each other since their days at military school in Eden, and having taken up opposing sides of this "good vs. bad points" checking system, are teamed together during their stay on Earth.
However, Chihaya is unusual even by angelic standardshe has black hair, eyes and wings. He's one-of-a-kind, unusually powerful in spite of his naive demeanor (much to Kagetsuya's dismay), but set apart from his angel kin...until the Black Cancer strikes the heavenly population, darkening the wings and hair of its victims before spiraling them down into painful death. Tension builds among the angels and between Chihaya and Kagetsuya in particular, and it looks as if the secrets to the salvation or destruction of both Earth and Eden may lie with Chihaya himself.
About manga one: (also from the BLUmanga site.)
Volume 1 Summary:Unbeknownst to humans, angels walk among us. Save for the occasional annual angelic convention, they are scattered across the globe interacting with humans and their crises. Chihaya and Kagetsuya consistently find themselves in different parts of the world dealing with an array of characters and their hopeless problems. This seems to be the only source of their worries, in spite of Chihaya's unfortunate tendency to get spotted with his wings out, until news arrives of a growing legion of fallen angels plagued by the "Black Cancer." What will happen when Chihaya and Kagetsuya are asked to find one of the feared Fallen Angels, Lord Seraphim? What is it about Chihaya that lands the Fallen Angel right at his doorstep?
About the Author:Yun Kouga Earthian, which has been turned into an anime, is Yun's first major hit. She is the author of several well-known shojo and boys' love series, including ,
Renai Crown, and her newest series,
Loveless.(Seen the anime of Loveless Verry good, and am going to buy the manga when it comes out. ^^ Will write a review for it too.)
Sadly, manga two is not out yet, and won't be out until February 2006 (Which isn't too far away so hopefully I'll have a job by then and can get it. ^^)
Apart from that, the art is beautiful, as is the story line, you'll simply fall in love. (Pics for the Manga/anime series will soon appear in the Pic forum. ^^)
I recommend this manga (And the anime if you don't like reading, but it'll leave you with a LOT of unanswered questions) to anyone who likes stories Angels.
