Kilalanungu - Das Tor
&
Daizell - Manda
Kilala flopped on the grass, rather glad she'd managed to get most of her undercoat shed. The heat of the lands outside her birthplace was VERY high sometimes. Though...she somehow liked it. It wasn't a suffocating heat, to her. It was...comforting. Very comforting. She was glad she had left. And it was all thanks to her best friend.
"Hey Daizell!" She had found something interesting in the grass. "What's this...thing? It's rolling some weird brown ball around. Looks kinda like...doo."
The leopon glanced up at that and blinked, wondering what it was that Kilala had found now. Just about every day, the lioness would come across something that was unfamiliar to her because of where she grew up. Doubling back a bit, Daizell eyed the bug, then wrinkled his nose a little. "Well, the uhm... brown ball -is- doo, actually."
Kilala blinked. And blinked again. The looked up to Daizell. "Seriously?" She looked back to the bug and ball of doo. Then wrinkled her nose. "Uuuugh. Why the heck is the bug rolling it around. That's just....gross. Really gross."
"Well, that thing is ... uhm. It's called a dung beetle. And it's going to take that back to wherever it's... nest is. Then eat it," the dark male explained, ears laying back a bit. It wasn't really a pleasant thought, all things told.
Kilala promptly scooted away from the bug a bit, looking VERY grossed out. "Oh geez GROSS." She sat up, cringing. "That...is officially the grossest thing I've heard. Definitely going to avoid those things. I don't want 'em to like....accidentally roll doo into my leg."
Daizell couldn't help smiling just a little at that, but he nodded. "There are other things out here that are pretty gross. But I don't blame you for wanting to stay away from that little." Stinkbugs though... they could definitely be worse.
Kilala looked to Daizell with wide blue eyes. "There's more gross things? What kind of things?" If she could avoid them, she'd be happy. GAH. There were ups and downs to EVERYTHING. Back home, it was familiar and she had family and there weren't these gross bugs. But it was too cold, and serious, and nothing like her. Out here....GROSS THINGS. But she was having an adventure, and had a good friend, and it was cozy and warm!
Oh gee... did she -really- want to know? "Uhm ... there's this other bug called a stink bug. If you startle it, it lets out this -really- nasty stink. There's hippos... they're pretty gross, but they mostly live in water. Hmmn... jackals will eat things that are rotting ... and hyenas can be pretty bad too ..."
Kilala nodded, mouth in a very rare straight line, rather than its usual smiling curve. "Definitely...avoiding those. If I can. Eeeeeeew." She shivered. "Have you ever actually run into any of them? Or did you learn about 'em from a friend or your Mom?"
"I've seen some of those things from time to time..." he replied carefully. He had once talked with a jackal for a while, but he wasn't about to tell her that. "They're kind of all over the place, so you're bound to see one sooner or later."
Kilala nodded, then looked thoughtful. Then sighed. "Ah well. Can't have everything good in life." One day though....one day, she'd find a place where the 'bad' was a LOT less than the 'good'. And then it would be awesome. And hopefully, there would be no stink bugs. Or doo-rolling bugs. "So uh..." She kneaded the ground with her front paws. "Maybe we should go get food. We haven't been hunting since yesterday morning." Topic change! It was perfect!
Daizell blinked a bit at the sudden change of subject but nodded then, smiling. "Sure!" One good thing, he was certain, was that there was probably a lot more prey out here than up in the mountains. He -could- be wrong, and he hadn't asked her but still...
Kilala stood, grin on her face. It looked far more in place than the grossed-out look she'd had not that long ago. "Come on! I think I smelled something something tasty thataway!" She indicated the direction with her tail, then started loping in the direction. Food! She was always in a good mood when it came to food...especially since the prey out here was bigger than the prey in her birth pride!
Daizell laughed and loped after the female, quite pleased to hunt with her. Though Kilala wasn't all that used to hunting on the plains... if they could find a tree big enough for her to climb, she could drop down -completely- unexpectedly upon prey that he chased toward her.
