A name meaning "Guard of the Inner Garden." A name that perfectly reflects the birds that live here. They protect their hidden garden with all do respect, and expect others to do the same. They do not perform rash actions unless provoked first. Though any disrespect to their garden will cause them to shun you entirely. Making you incapable of ever wielding their power.

Sypher made his way into the island, fresh from his chunnin exams. He examined the world he'd entered, staring at the plants all around him before proceeding with extreme caution. With shoes thrown over his shoulders, he made sure that where he stepped was clear of flowers and even weeds he gave the utmost respect to. Place is amazing... he ducked under a low hanging plant and proceeded silently through the garden, his bare feet soundless on the soft grass.

The air seemed to spark and Sypher froze, his feet positioned precariously on stones as he held himself perfectly still. But after a moment he saw a small falcon sitting on a branch, watching him "H-Hello." he said, swallowing slightly as he noticed a distinct taste of ozone, lightning, around the bird. It eyed him carefully and he bowed to it, careful to keep his head low in respect. Suddenly the bird was in his hair, pulling at it while...laughing? Sypher froze until the bird spoke "Oye! Gimme your arm, kid. I want rest, yah?" Automatically Sypher held his arm out and the falcon settled on it.

"Names Raidan." The falcon introduced itself as Sypher proceeded through the forest, keeping his eyes on the ground and the area around him. Raidan waited until he'd made it over a particularly large bush before biting his thumb "Ow! I'm sorry! My name's Sypher. Its a pleasure to meet you Raidan." the falcon chuckled at him as they walked and lifted a wing "Aw, I barely nibbled ya, kid!" Sypher swallowed his breath as he walked, ducking under a branch with care to keep Raidan on his arm. The falcon grinned at him, he thought, then spoke again "So. You here to be a master sage eh?"

Sypher swallowed again, feeling foolishly nervous. He'd never felt as nervous as he did now, knowing that he was treading on dangerous ground. Literally. Struggling to watch his step, trying to keep Raidan on his shoulder, his shoes thumping against his back he replied carefully "Yes. I want to learn from your kind." Sypher took another step over a particular flower, pausing to admire it. Raidan nipped his thumb again "Ow! I'm sorry!" he moved along now, looking at the trees now. They were truly beautiful and he could almost see the great birds.

Raidan examined Sypher with a critical eye but approved of how he handled himself around the plants and how he kept Raidan on his arm. "Very well. I will take you to them. But you must get me a...small red ball! I love those things!" His wings fluttered sharply and with excitement almost taking out Sypher's eye. He smiled at the bird, liking his attitude "I can do that. Do you mind if I get it after this?" Raidan puffed up but seemed pleased with the deal "Follow me and keep up!"

Sypher dodged tree branches as Raidan flew ahead, the falcon moving quickly in and out of the trees and shadows. He was careful, leaving very little signs of being there 'R-Raidan! Hey, wait up!" he called, racing after the falcon. Responding with a laugh and an increase in his wings, he shot forward and Sypher followed...straight over a cliff. "HEEEEEEEEY!" Sypher howled as he splashed down into the still pool below him and Raidan cackled above him, doing circles as he laughed.

"Th-Th-That wasn't c-c-cool, Raidan!" Sypher dragged himself out of the pool, soaking wet and shivering. His hair was flattened to his forehead and Raidan landed easily next to him, smiling as much as a bird can. Sypher sniffed, feeling a cold start immediately "Well, you had to learn how to fly sometime! Oh. Excuse me, you had to learn how to fall first!" The bird fell over laughing, his wings flapping to keep from totally losing it. Sypher said nothing, looking ill as he squeezed the water from his clothes.

Raidan watched Sypher as he moved to sit under a large tree, his clothes totally soaked "You're an awfully skinny little kid, ain'tcha?" the falcon hopped closer to him, wings giving him extra lift as he moved. Sypher flicked a look at him then held out his arm for Raidan "Thanks kid! I'm surprised you didn't throw a rock at me." Raidan shuffled his feathers as he sat on Sypher's arm, talons lightly holding "If I threw rocks at everyone who pushed me into a puddle, I'd have no friends to speak of." Sypher replied, his expression easy going and relaxed despite his shivers.

Raidan gave Sypher a careful look then voiced a high pitched screech that made Sypher flinch so violently he dropped a sock he'd been wringing out. "I thinkin' ya read to meet the rest of us. We will decide what to do with you." Raidan flapped his wings and Sypher stood quickly "What do you mean, Raidan? Who did you just call?!" A blast of heat reached Sypher's neck and he looked up as an enormous falcon swooped down on him. Its talons bit into his shirt and shoulders, lifting him in the air and dragging him to the highest reaches of the tree.

Sypher was dropped onto wood, his butt bouncing as he landed. He ached all over from being dragged up here but a shuffling of wings made him freeze. He was sitting on a huge flat tree top, branches thicker than his head rising all around him. And seated on these branches were enourmous birds. "um...Hello...Its a pleasure to meet you..." he bowed carefully, very aware of the danger these birds posed. After a few minutes of silence the birds began to converse around him.

Sypher let his breath out and grinned before climbing down the tree to go back to his village with his new power.

The long, black-haired girl made her way to the island with wide eyes. It was beautiful! Hitomi had a great appreciation for nature, so the island was just like home to her. She took off her sandals and placed them in her pack before beginning to treck through the soft grass and earth. [1/10]
Hitomi began to hum a soft melody as she softly walked, enjoying the sound of many different birds chirping. She made a turn from where a thick tree obstructed her path and knelt to take in the aroma of the colorful flowers around the trees. 'This is place is so...I've never been somewhere like this...' The girl was used to village life and forests, and it took a while for her to grow used to her surroundings. [2/10]
After some time, the girl slowly entered the island's garden and stood still, taking a moment to absorb the utterly serene and tranquil atmosphere. Hitomi smiled softly to a flock of birds who flew overhead. With this peace, she could feel her stress, worry, and exhaustion ebbing away. It was almost enough to make her want to stay here forever. Nonetheless, the girl continued on her way. [3/10]
Her humming steadily began to reverberate throughout the air, combining with the chirping of the birds. Hitomi smiled and continued on to her destination. 'For once, in a long time, I'm happy...' Was this how it felt to be at peace? With no worries? Hitomi wondered. Suddenly, a soft flapping of wings close to her caused her to turn around, careful to not step on any plants, and see who had come to her. There, perched on a thin, low tree branch, sat a small white falcon. Her wise and calculating eyes looked Hitomi up and down before they made eye contact. [4/10]
Hitomi dared not move. This was her first time confronting these birds, so what if she messed something up? "Don't fear me, child. We welcome you to our home, I am Anukha." The white falcon dipped its head to Hitomi, and she immediately, albeit a bit to quickly, bowed in return. 'Her voice is so soft and calm...' "It's a pleasure to meet you Anukha. My name is Hitomi, thank you for welcoming me." The bird's eyes twinkled as she seemed to ponder something. After a moment, Anukha flapped her wings and flew to Hitomi, landing on her right shoulder. "I see your fondness for our home through your eyes. You have my respect. I will guide you to our Elder from here." 'But I also see a sadness that my healing powers cannot heal...Poor child.' With a nod, Hitomi began to walk once more, now comforted by the presence of her new companion. [5/10]
With the occasional 'now take a right here' and a 'then a left' from the white bird, Hitomi continued on her way through the vast garden. As she walked, the girl wondered if she should voice her thoughts. What was the harm? She was more nervous than afraid to do so, but she gathered up the courage and spoke. "Anukha, um, why did you choose to meet me?" Hitomi lowered her shoulder so the bird could be more comfortable. The white falcon made a soft hissing sound, which was the birds' way of sighing. "I sensed you needed a companion such as I. Another falcon, Raidan, was to meet you but he is saddened by the death of our previous contractor." Hitomi looked down to her feet and silently thanked the wise falcon.[6/10]
For the next hour of her journey, they walked in silence. Hitomi chose this time to slowly relax herself and enjoy the beautiful and ethereal atmosphere of the garden. The trickling of water in small ponds drew small sparrows to drink from them, and Hitomi smiled at the sight before continuing. "You know Anukha, you're the first to ever see me like this, not fake. Back in my village, I'm always having to be tense and on edge, always pressuring myself to learn more and being burdened by my power. But its as if this garden is draining away all my worries. It's great!!" She smiled widely and spun once with arms outstretched to further show her happiness and gratefulness. Anukha gazed into Hitomi's eyes and internally smiled. "That is why our home is so precious to us. Why we protect it. I thank you for caring for it as much as we do." [7/10]
If Hitomi had met the birds sooner, she'd know that they didn't easily say something like that to a stranger. However, the girl smiled and thanked the bird. The long walk now seemed so short! The girl never once forgot to be careful where she stepped, only because of her fear of disappointing Anukha. [8/10]
When they were finally close to their destination, Anukha flapped her wings and took flight just as an unbelievably large falcon swooped down to her and pierced its talons into the fabric of her shirt, lifting her up to a tall plateau covered in soft grass and tall trees. When they landed, the bird dropped her as gently as it could, which was rather rough, to the ground before Anukha flew above her and landed on a branch where many other birds were. A large, wise-looking owl was also there, which Hitomi immediately bowed to. [9/10]

The birds began to converse amongst themselves, and Hitomi was careful to stand far enough so she wouldn't hear what they were saying. She wasted to be as respectful as possible, after all. 'I hope Anukha doesn't say anything bad about me...but I wasn't rude or anything, so everything should be okay...' She looked down to her feet and patiently waited until they were done speaking to each other. [10/10]

As the black-haired girl waited, she absent-mindedly began to ponder what it would be like to have wings and be able to fly. 'Wings symbolize freedom. Freedom is every human's joy.' She thought as she looked at the view in front of her with an unfocused gaze. Her perch from the high plateau gave her a beautiful view of the garden, and Hitomi made sure to imprint it in her memory. After a few moments, she turned back to the birds and waited. Not too long after, with a flurry of wings, the birds settled on the matter and flew away, leaving the wise owl who flapped its wings and flew down to land in front of Hitomi. He gazed into her eyes, and the girl did not doubt that he was able to tell what she really was like, who she truly was and what she wanted. "Hitomi Kurama. I accept you as our contractor. Anukha has told me about you, and I am thankful to have someone such as you as our contractor. I have been alive for many, many years and have met humans like you, however rare the times were. You are good at heart, yet deny this. Do not, and you will go far." Karu then hooted, and smoke suddenly sprung forth, giving way to a large scroll. At his command, she unfurled it and bit her thumb before signing her name in blood and closing it. Karu hooted softly once more, causing the scroll to disappear. He blinked and nodded to her before flapping his wings and taking to the sky. Hitomi stood still for a good few minutes before quickly getting up and retracing her steps to head back. Her black bangs hid the few tears that fell, which were quickly wiped away before she could acknowledge them. His words had really gotten to her, and she remained quiet the whole way back.

Arriving at the summons land Jae let out a long breath, one that she had been holding for awhile now. To say she was nervous was an understatement. Even amongst the beautiful layout of these lands she still felt uneasy. Continuing her hike through the spacious fields she took precious care not to trample over the beautiful arrangement of exotic flowers and plants Jae had all but forgotten she was supposed to be searching out the birds of rhese lands. "damn it all." Jae pouted, searching out a place to take a seat. A big rock provided her with a good perch so she seated herself on it, crossing her legs and fanning her face. It was oddly hot suddenly.

"Come on give me a break!" She said aloud, fanning herself more vigorously now. She was baking underneath the shade and even with a cool breeze blowing. Jae froze instantly. Wait a minuet. If the air itself was not warm how come she was still burning up. Jae stood, immediately. Her icy blue gaze darted from corner to corner of the location she had decided to squat in. "Who's there!" Jae shouted, her unease building inside her. This was foreign territory, no matter how she thought about it. She had to be careful. The sound of snapping twigs and branches and the wisps of air being kicked up caused her to turn around and look up...

All she saw was orange before she dodged to the right, diving for the ground and rolling back up into a squatted position. Her Kunai was drawn already, the metal weapon held flat against her arm in a defensive stance. "What the hel-" She snapped, losing her voice mid sentence when she spotted just who it was that had rushed at her. The large bird that was now perched on the rock she had been standing next to a few seconds prior towered over her. It's feathers were a fiery arrangement of reds, oranges and yellows, making the bird look like it was practically ablaze. Amber eyes stared down at her, its sharp talons and beak snapping and clicking in agitation to her response to it's presence. "You are in my territory!" It squawked, its voice ending in a shrill screech.

Dropping down to one knee and discarding the Kunai she had instinctively drawn she avoided looking the falcon in the face. Finally... She thought, wondering if this was indeed the bird she needed to meet in order to strike her pact with. "Forgive me. I didn't know you were-" She was cut off abruptly, the large phoenix like bird shifting from foot to foot. "Kenachi, the bird of flames and second most powerful." It gloated. Jae raised her head and stared at the bird in the face, Kenachi letting out a small hiss from the breech in protocol. Dropping her gaze Jae stood. "So you are not the leader of this clan of summons?" Kenachi shifted once again, his agitation growing.

He unfurled his wings and shook them aggressively about him, hovering a few inches off the boulder but settling back down. Hot winds blew in her face, causing Jae to shield her face. A sheen of sweat had settled on her brow and her discomfort only grew. "What makes you think you are worthy of meeting our elder! Ha!" Jae narrowed her eyes, her temper reaching it's max. Biting back her words she took a deep breath. "Please. It's important that I meet with your leader. You don't understand." Kenachi repeated his earlier way of silencing her by blasting her in the face with another heated wave of air. This time she stumbled to stay on her feet.

"No. It's you who does not understand. Humans come here every so often to pacts with our clan in self gains for themselves! We birds no longer wish to pact with humans." Jae's heart sank, a cold sweat rolling through her body as she listened to what Kenachi was telling her. In other words she had come for nothing. Or so she would think if she was anyone but herself. "That's not true!" She argued back, her temper boiling over now. This time she met Kenachi's gaze, matching his rude words with her rude actions.

Never look a predator in the eyes. It signals a challenge and if you do you must be prepared to fight. Jae was ready to fight this bird, this bird who represented her greatest fear. Flames. She needed to seek council with the elder. It was true what Kenachi said. She did want a summons to gain in strength but it was not for selfish reasons. It was to protect those she cared about and those who could not protect themselves. "I am not selfish! I will not leave until your elder at least has heard me out!" She said, receiving a bird like hiss from Kenachi. The orange falcon narrowed his eyes and 'smirked'. Flames sparked around it's body and the air around the both of them began to boil. Jae flinched, taking a step back.

Kenachi continued to raise the temperature, flames flickering around him in sporadic placements as he did so. "Oh, we shall see!" Kenachi retorted. Unfurling his wings he took to the air, above her. With two swipes of his wings he sent a flurry of flames down at her, Jae gritting her teeth. She could not strike the bird but nor could she run. Instead she stood her ground and closed her eyes, waiting for the flames to burn her to a crisp. Instead of feeling her skin melt off her bones the area around her cooled considerably, the smoldering heat finally dying off and allowing her to breath unperturbed.

Opening her eyes she looked up, noting that Kenachi was once again perched on the boulder, preening himself without a care in the world. Jae's mouth dropped open and it took her a second of thought process to finally spit something out. "Why didn't you burn me to a crisp!" Kenachi paused and looked at her. "Would you like for me to do so? Because I have no qualms against it." He said, stirring up the air around him once more. Jae held her hands out in front of her and shook them. "No! It's fine! I just...don't understand." Kenachi's large amber eyes rolled, the gesture eerie and human. "You can't expect us to let you meet our elder without some sort of test. Depending on who's territory you fall into you are tested." I bet you are the douchebag of the lot! She thought to herself, smiling sarcastically to him.
