He remembered the first time he met her quite clearly, and not only because it was the most embarrased he had ever felt. He remembered Mau literally pushing him towards Cal and saying 'Go on, don't be shy.' He remembered Cal smiling and agreeing that he was, indeed, cute enough to at least go out with. He was pretty sure Mau had released a relieved sigh. But... he had agreed. And here he was. He wiggled in his outfit, something Agent Hayes had helped him pick out. He wasn't sure how the jacket and pants he had eventually chosen looked, but Hayes had said, "Yeah, yeah, you look good. Relax. Confidence is half of it." Which was, from what Liam could figure out, the highest of compliments. He could only hope his mentor was right... He had even chosen a swanky restaurant in Camphoreon, in which they could sit outside under the stars. That was plenty romantic, in his opinion. The nervous stutter was almost present in his own thoughts, but he hoped he could get through dinner with minimal difficulty. Besides, it was just dinner, right? Nothing to be afraid of... nothing to be afraid of... Still, he was through his second glass of water before she even showed up...

It had all happened so fast. Mau was there, the object of her affection, then this cute boy. How and why did she end up saying yes? Was it that cute face? Or just because it was Mau's suggestion. She let out a nervous sigh, pulling on her scarf to ease her. After all, Mau did help her pick that outfit out- while they where in Camphoreon no doubt. Her lilac blouse complimented the dark wash jeans she wore. The wispy scarf trailed her in the wind as she paced in front of the restaurant, her ankle boots magnifying the sound. She didn't know why she let Mau talk her into wearing these, Liam was small enough without her being the half inch taller the boots made her.
I can't just leave him here... Her thoughts were jumbled up, not helping in the situation. She summoned all her courage, taking the handle of the door, pulling on it gently before a nice young man held it open for her. "T-thank you..." Oh Arceus, I'm stuttering... She entered, hips swaying with each step, scanning the tables for that familiar face. Maybe he's not here? She checked the outside patio, a view of stars lit up the night sky. Her heart sank when she found him sitting alone. Guilt was not a good feeling, and it drover her to continue on.
"H-hey there!" She was doing it again. "Sorry I kept you waiting!" She smiled down to him, "Did I take a long time?"

"Ohnonono," Liam wheezed in response to her question. He quickly jumped up at the soonest possible time to get her chair for her. This was, apparently, the gentlemanly thing to do. "I was ju-just, uh, you know... early? I'm g-glad you're here, Cal." It was an odd feeling, not using the familiar 'ma'am,' but he doubted that would go over well on a... date. A date. He was on a date! He scurried back to his seat, grabbing the bottle of water he had ordered (And here he thought water was free. This was an expensive bottle...) and holding it out. "I... hope you don't mind. Turns out they don't serve alcohol to minors..."

Cal's face began to twinge with heat. "Thank you." He was being so kind and behaving like a gentleman, pulling out her chair and such. She still felt bad about keeping him waiting, no matter how much he told her it was alright. She gave Liam a wide smile and a small giggle, taking the water bottle in hand, "I don't think that ritzy restaurant would want to get in trouble selling alcohol to teenagers."
Truthfully, she was glad that they wouldn't be consuming any alcohol. Who knows how she would act? She cringed at the though of her totally wasted, puking in a corner. That would never be the case if she could help it. "So have you ordered already?" She scanned the menu vaguely taking in what it contained.

Liam leaned closer and lowered his voice in response to her original statement. "Hey, we don't have that problem on base? Maybe they're... they're, uh... you know, spoiling us?" He was doing his best not to stutter, but he was only inches away (true, closer to a foot than an inch, but still inches nonetheless) and felt his neck heating with a familiar blush. "Butanywayno th-the waiter hasn't co-come yet," he added, a little more than slightly flustered. "See? I haven't been here that long." He smiled, still nervous, but he figured that would go away soon enough if they could just keep talking and relax.

She leaned in across the table to hear him, "Does that mean you've been drinking on base?" She quirked an eyebrow playfully before leaning back in her seat. She could swear she saw him blush in the dim light of the deck. It looked like they were lighting candles and torches. Did they need to be any more romantic? They were dining under the stars for Arcecus sake!
"What looks good to you?" She cleared her throat and took another glance at the menu trying-but failing- to ignore the couples in the background. It was like everyone was on a date tonight. Focus.. Cal put her attention back on the menu. Everything looked so good... How am I supposed to decide?

"N-no, of course not! At least... I, uh.. I mean, I don't think so? I d-do think Sorano put something in my drink one time, but he'd never admit it..." He had blushed, in fact, being confronted by a young, uh... 'female' like that. It was embarrassing that he was the one who was shy about this. It was the man's job to be... manly! And pay for dinner, which he had every intention of doing. "Weeeeell," he said, sliding his menu up to cover his face long enough to catch his breath, "Hey- wait, they don't have just... burgers? Man, and they call themselves a 'five star' restaurant..." He sighed, but it seemed his choices tonight would be of the classier variety, even if that meant escargo. What were those, anyway, cooked Magcargo? How did you cook something made of lava?

A smile spread across her face, "I'm guessing you're not too adventurous with your eating?" She giggled, looking the menu up and down. "Maybe we should've just stayed in. I would've made you something nice...." She kept her face hidden from the possible look he could give her. That was something she didn't expect herself to say. That was deemed more romantic than this.
She did her best to focus on the menu, but nothing clicked. "I'm tempted to just order a salad... I have no clue what half of this stuff is." Don't girls usually get salads anyway? She sighed, a salad would just leave her hungry in the end.

It seemed Cal was in much the same boat as he was and couldn't find a single appetizing thing on the menu, even under 'appetizers,' which one could only assume... "Hey, do you wanna just go get some fast food? I'm sure we could find a place if we walked around a bit," he suddenly blurted out, much to his own surprise. Still, it wasn't a bad idea and he supposed he could work a long moonlit walk in his favor. Besides, who would be stupid enough to try to rob two Rockets?

Well, that was unexpected. Cal blinked in surprise, settling her features in a coy smile. "That sounds wonderful." She hadn't expected Liam to spring that on her, but it would be a nice change of scenery. Though, those heels would probably start to hurt her feet if they walked for too long. She closed the menu, stood up and smoothed out her blouse, making sure she was still pristine and appealing. "Are you ready?" She awkwardly offered her hand to him, rubbing the back of her head with the other.
