This plushie keychain was ridiculously overpriced. Not only was its left fin approximately half a centimeter shorter than its right fin, the manufactured dolphin grin was entirely lopsided. There was no way she was paying $9.99 for this until Mindy had found the most perfect plushie dolphin keychain.

Half an hour and three stacks of upturned plush dolphin keychains later, she still had not found her perfect choice (one had come close, but there was a blemish on the tag), and it occurred to her a little belatedly after a sales clerk came to ask the teenager is she required assistance - to which Mindy replied she had someone, thank you very much - that Emily was not around.

Now, as Emily very rarely let Mindy down, unless there were household appliances or wrestlers involved, the long-haired girl was actually getting slightly concerned. With the random appearance of minionless monsters around, it was very possible that Emily was somewhere needing Mindy's very implicit instructions.

With this thought in mind, perhaps it was time to indeed help her maid with their valorous deed. She promptly turned to the girl closest to her, who looked well-dressed enough she assumed to be a sales associate in such an overpriced gift shop. "Excuse me, I would like you to assist me in finding a perfectly symmetrical dolphin plushie so I may leave to accompany my maid."

This was said in the most serious and matter-of-fact of voices.

Lumiere was at the aquarium because it was the most relaxing place. Especially on days that it wasn't too crowded. Except today wasn't as empty as Lumiere preferred it to be. Her amethyst eyes glanced across the souvenirs, mostly with indifference. Perhaps something would catch her eye? She looked upon the items doubtfully, remarking silently that these items were of poor craftsmanship and quality.

Oh, those factories. Those massive machines, bought with thousands of dollars, couldn't even do the details right. Human creations, on the other hand, were created meticulously rather than insensitively manufactured metal and bolts. But this section.. seemed further improved than the rest of the store. Only the plush dolphins laying in this section attracted her attention, her abilities lacking the skill of sewing. However, many others, the bead and jewelry items, could be made more elegantly of intricate design with her own hands. She had no desire to spend precious earnings on merchandise that didn't prove worthy of the effort of even opening her wallet.

She was standing next to an exceptional beauty of light blue hair but Lumiere took no notice of anything farther than that until she was approached. She was thoroughly surprised, wondering why the other female addressed her in such a authoritative manner.

Lumiere didn't take orders. A lady always takes charge of her own self, never allowing herself to submissively bow before others. This time was no exception.

"Your politely masked order displeases me although I admire your quest." She extracted two dolphins from the back of the shelf she had been gazing at. "But being on a similar quest myself, I'm open to including others. Perhaps these might be to your satisfaction?" To her eyes, they seemed the least lopsided than the rest of the dolphin population. She delicately lifted up the keychains with the utmost care, regarding the female with mutual seriousness.

Emily's rather belated appearance was briefly forgotten at the attendant's actions. Mindy was overall rather impressed: they had not only acknowledged her quest but had managed to pull out not one, but two, perfectly aligned and sewn bottlenose dolphin plushie keychains.

A strange spark flashed within her, a fleeting thought, a realisation. They were a powerful attendant - if not a potential ally: they saw things the way she did, that the world was indeed a flaw and only a few select things of perfected beauty.

"Impressive." She put her hands together, smiling just slightly. "Your aesthetic prowess intrigues me. Might I ask who I am addressing?" The dolphins were forgotten as well for the moment.

"Certainly." Lumiere's mouth curved to give the female in front of her a smile, different from her perfected ones required at modeling shoots. It was a meeting of privileged girl one meets privileged girl number two. If that wasn't already clear from their immaculate appearance, it was clear from their formal manner of speaking. It was anything but casual-- they weren't your brash youngsters in high school who regarded make up as their god.

But they weren't just any female member of the upper class. No, they weren't bubbly brained females with the mindset of a teacup. (Thank goodness for that!)

Lumere bowed slightly, introducing herself as she straightened up and stood forward. "I'm Lumiere Estelle Aileron." Her purple eyes met the other girl's, seeking a reaction. Would it be disdain, interest .. or something surprising? Why Lumiere was expecting something, she didn't quite know. But already, had the female surprised her with her objective-- It wsn't often that you ran into a unique character that could phrase such a question so forwardly.

"Well then, I am glad we were acquainted with, Miss Lumiere, it is rare and far between that I meet someone of your calibre." Mindy opened her mouth to say something when another thought occured to her. She frowned suddenly. "I would have really enjoyed talking with you further, but it seems that my maid has gotten lost, again. I might have to extract her from a giant robotic vaccuum again, if you would excuse me."

Sadly, Mindy never got to excuse herself as something rather gigantic and slimey suddenly flopped between her and the cashier check-out. It had multiple limbs, kind of smelt badly, and was making strange noises out of its serrated teeth. A couple of people stared at it blankly, until the creature raised two legs and smashed a completely innocent pile of Happy Fin the Mascot Seal merchandise. Like clockward, the screaming ensued, and then the panicked fleeing from the store as the octopus thing - youma - wrecked havoc on all sorts of merchandise.

Mindy stood dead still admist the chaos, raising one eyebrow as a ten-foot long appendage nearly grazed her. She was vaguely wondering why food was coming to life more than anything else.

Was it not common courtesy for the other to introduce herself? Before Lumiere could inquire who this fair-skinned female was, she excused herself. That would have had Lumiere frowning if not for the "giant robotic vaccuum" which placed a blank look on Lumiere's expression. She couldn't seem to tell if it was a misplaced joke or if it was uttered in genuine seriousness.

Before she could ponder on it, a giant slimy wet mass appeared in the store, timing it's entrance perfectly. It wasn't so much the giant seafood monster that bothered her, it was the screaming of civilians ringing through her ear and kids struggling to pick themselves up, pushing the light blue-haired female and Lumiere, shoving them as they ran past.

One could see the little ticks of annoyance counting up like a clock in Lumiere, eyes closed, her smile turned down to a deepening frown. It only deepened when the unintroduced female stood there, nearly hit by a long tentacle. Lumiere wasn't exactly nice enough to take a hit for a civilian but she wasn't callous enough to leave her as is. So soon, Mindy's hand was grabbed by Lumiere's small one, forcing the girl to run to the side. Meanwhile, her other hand fiddled with her purse, hastily digging through the contents for a small object she couldn't remember placing specifically.

But soon enough, her hands curled around a rainbow hued pen with a crystal embedded on top, embraced by a moon crescent. This wasn't the time to run to the bathroom and transform-- she would have to settle for behind a one-sided wall with a girl with zero manners.

She was just mildly surprised at being dragged away from the debacle, for a second mistaking Lumiere's gentle tug for Emily's, letting herself be moved to a slightly safer corner. Or well, it was safe, until one wet tentacled mass came crashign down above the two, severing the wall behind them, throwing Mindy back by force.

She flew backwards into a ruined pile of wreckage, suddenly buried head to toe in rubber merchandise in plushies, with only the bare tips of her hair peeking out. Mindy attempted to claw her way out, only to realise that her dress was actually snagged to the debris at the bottom. Well, this was sure a great way to ruin her image - so much for recruiting that monster with intimindation.

Lumiere felt the connection severed rudely when the other girl was thrown back. Well, obviously the octopus had no intention of letting the last two civilians go.

That was terribly ungracious-- Although Lumiere couldn't really expect the octopus to learn manners or social etiquette. They were lower on the food chain after all. Lumiere really wasn't growing fond of this business of being chosen as a senshi. It imposed a bigger burden than she cared to handle. Why couldn't she just go back to being Lumiere, the model?

But in a different light, she wouldn't have wanted to be the powerless one that required others to save her. She knew herself well. She didn't like either position but at least in this one, she had a choice. Her choice-- she wanted to sleep tonight. Not with a civilian on her mind. A mild rush of annoyance flew through her, her small mouth set in her infamous frown, her eyes narrowed before the bothersome and odoriferous youma before her.

So this was another youma, huh? It would be the second time she ran into one. It certainly.. was larger than the first. She had to assume the youma was assorted into many different categories, each with their own capabilities and weaknesses.

....

Well, crystal should work, right?

"Invoke Crystal!"

Out of nowhere, a large crystal spike stabbed the youma before the debris that held the unknown female hidden from Aeria's view. Aeria's focus was on the youma in front of her-- she didn't have time to search through the clutter of merchandise and cement to look for a civilian. She would have to handle it on her own.

Mindy was annoyed. Drowning in stuffed animals was currently not on her list of ways of how to die, especially ones that were so poorly manufactured. She gave the cave-in pile one more helpless kick before she resorted to the other option. Thankfully the henshin pen was still in her blazer pocket, and she slipped it out, muttering a few choice words.

Problem: Sailor Algol was not stuck inside the pile. With an angry sort of frown, she gave one rather ungraceful kick, sending plushies flying in its wake. By the time the senshi of ghosts had scuttled out, the giant octopus thing had targeted what seemed like another senshi, and was currently screaming bloody murder. Half its face also seemed to be missing, courtesy of a large prismatic spike impaling it to the ground.

Fortunately for the youma it was mostly viscous, the other senshi's attack sliding slowly through the creature to drop underneath it. It reared up on its rather rotound body and did what it did best: charge at its assailant.

Sailor Algol decided now was as good as ever. She ran in, attack at the ready. "Ghost light!"

The twin orbs of 'ghostly' light were feeling rather energetic today, and managed to knock over some upturned shelves, keychains, and magnets to one side before calling it a day. Thankfully for the other senshi, the makeshift wall of moved items also provided a quick barrier against the octopus youma's charge. A mixture of water and see-through sludge dribbled through the mess as the creature gave another indignant shriek, backing up slightly stunned, ready to charge again.

Aeria wasn't used to help-- she had never been one for group work. But when that tentacle dived for her and another senshi appeared to save the day with her ghostly minion-- Aeria had to backtrack here. Ghostly? Minions? Aeria, out of natural disinterest, didn't want to ask but she soon found her thoughts overwhelmed with a slight curiosity. Perhaps she could ask if this was wrapped up, after teaching the girl some proper manners. Introductions would be pleasant.

Half of the youma was already in a bloody mess so that just left the other half. Using the other's makeshift wall, Aeria only needed a split second to once more touch the floor with the palm of her hand, shouting out the necessary (but flashy, which wasn't Lumiere's style at all) phrase for her attack.

Invoke Crystal!

Two more crystals impaled the octopus shortly afterwards, the effect of the attack taking it's toll on Aeria, beads of sweat forming, her movements starting to lag. It was a first for her, using her attack more than twice consecutively, the resulting energy-- or rather, lack of-- surprised Aeria. Her breathing was sightly heavy, blinking towards the bloody mass that was enveloped in large crystals.

" .. Has it fallen..?"

She raised one cryptic eye towards the other, as if clueing in for the first time that the other senshi was still alive. "Hmm.. oh yes, most likely." Sailor Algol seemed distracted, walking over with one arched eyebrow to give the tentacled thing a kick. To be honest, she was mostly disappointed that this creature was so weak; it didn't even last a minute with the two of them. Clearly, it was not fit to even consider being her minion - nevermind that it was probably deceased.

"Well, now that things are done and over with-"

And that was when the tentacle she kicked twitched . The senshi of ghosts backed up, just slightly. She still wasn't too sure what she thought of a dripping, oozing mess of a minion, but its tenacity was rather impressive. "- Or I guess it could still be alive. Interesting."

PostPosted: Sun Dec 05, 2010 10:10 pm

While it's tenacity was highly impressive, it didn't mean that Aeria was going to stick around to be the youma's next meal when it did get back up. One hand on her hat to hold it in place, the other took Algol's hand to break into a run. Where to? Any direction away from the giant ocean creature.

"This isn't an appropriate time to act like a foolish imbecile." She called out to the other, gritting her teeth. "Unless you're telling me, you can give send it to an eternal rest?" Unless those two ghostly minions had the ability to give it a heart attack through random frenzied actions, she didn't think it was likely. She looked over her shoulder, fervently hoping that the youma wouldn't slither after the two senshi. It was a shame for the clean-up crew to somehow sort through that mess. Most likely, the youma would die of blood loss. One could hope.

Her long blue hair flowed behind her, the soft pink ribbon bouncing in the air. Her white boots barely made a sound as they turned around an empty corner, her run slowing to a walk. They had exited the battle arena.. for now.
