This topic is devoted to the discussion of prom dates, where to find modest dresses, and more!
. . . and at the moment I have no aptitute to write anything because of this headache. I think I need to go see the nurse again soon. Anyway, I get an answer from Barrett today, if he'll go to mine with me, or not biggrin It's on April Fool's Day, and I asked him, because if I go with anyone else, it won't be as fun. We have a tendancy to pick on each other, and joke around a lot, so he'd be basically the perfect date, methinks . . .

well what i did was go to goodwill and find a dress that wasn't all that than i am adding things to it to make it brand new and stuff like that. but do not forget to take it to the dry cleaners before you do anything to it!
or
you can go to a fabric store when patterns are on sale and buy a pattern for a dollar or so. get someone to help you sow (maybe it could be a personal progress project!!!) and do it your self.
or
you could buy one for hundreds of dollars!!!!!!

yeah, and then there's always altering an immodest dress to make it modest, like adding a cute little jacket thing, or sleaves, or an over dress type thing. lots of options, have fun with them!

*nod* i agree with altering dresses. it's what i do. i think the EASIEST way to fix the modesty problem is to buy a matching color shrug. who knows, maybe you are good enough to decorate the shrug with beads or something. *shrug*
and yes, clearance racks are my friend....by your prom dress the year before, right after that year's prom when they are all 75% off!

Yeah, well, I still have my dress from last year, and that shrug I got to go with it, however, I think I'm going to go up to Knoxville to buy an already-modest dress biggrin
By the way, guys, Barrett said yes! whee So now I have a date! woohoo! and it's on April Fool's day! The squeeliciousness is unbearable!

o__o that sucks. I don't know how much ours has, but it's on a boat up in Nashville on April Fool's Day 3nodding It's really cool. The boat's max. capacity is maybe 300 or more, and we only have 80-90 seniors and juniors xd we're going to have a live band on the deck, and kareoke on the 2nd floor...

I hope you all have great fun at your proms! I have news that's sort of like that...I am going to Italy in February for the Olympics and to go to the Carnival!! Anyone see any of those old movies where everyone dressed up in fancy dresses and wore masks? Yeah, I'm going for that! Been a life long dream! Gonna go in the big parade and ride one of those long, skinny boats -- aka Gondolas. I am really excited!!!!

I almost don't want to go to prom this year. I already had the perfect prom experience last year, but my current boyfriend hasn't been, so I'll go.

Well, if you can't find modest ones, just make it modest somehow. Its actually fun to try and be as creative as you can.
Note from Paladin: Duct tape fixes everything! (this is of course, a joke blaugh ) ninja

i didn't read anything but the first post...i just have a sad story about the only prom i went to
i used to go to an LDS based privet school neutral so i didn't really have to worry about anyone doing anything that i found apropiate, but i asked a guy and he said yes so about a week before prom i went prom dress shopping but we couldn't find anything that was modest and would fit my short torso, so we ended up just making my prom dress. and because my step-mother didn't start my dress until the day before prom so i was three hours late picking up my date. well i was having a grand time when a girl who was going stag went with me and my date got ticked off when i got my group pic taken with my best friends i was sooooo close to telling her to find her own ride home. well i decided to be nice, but as i was going to get my shoes so i could leave i saw my date dancing with my best friend's little sister and they were dancing rather close, so after the song was over and they had walked away from eachother i got my date and left...well the next week i found out that my date (who everyone thought would end up being my boyfriend) was in love with my best friend's little sister and was 'trippin' on asid'....
but i had fun other wise.... but hey mormons tend to do that here in Utah...which really sucks because i know for a fact that the wards in Texas and Ohio are so faithful and i couldn't imagine them doing something like that....
