Huwayda stretched to a stadnding position. The lioness was gorwing up fast, she was already starting to think about leaving her father's den, and she had a crush, a potential mate, someone who could lover her like her fathers loved each other. The lioness smiled.
Walking only a few paces before finding another tree to settle under. She yawned, the short walk was more then what the lioness had wanted to do but she wanted a change of scenery. She looked around, the pride seemed to be alive and bustling.. She smiled enjoiing her spot.
Huwayda wasn't the only one enjoying the scenery of the area that day. Hidden in the bushes was a small dark cub. He blended in nearly perfectly with the shadows, and he only glanced up when the lioness moved in close. Her back was to him, and she seemed content to leave him alone. For a time he chose to ignore her.
Eventually though he finished up his play--drawing squiggles quietly in the sand--and poked his head through the brush. "...Hello. You enjoying the shade too?" She looked like she'd be friendly, and though Sutekh had come out here to avoid his sister at first, he'd started to get lonely.
Huwayda turned when the cub came out of the pushes towards her. Huwayda smiled, she quite liked cubs, she had even thought quite a bit about being a cub sitter when she was an adult, she just didn't know if she would have the energy to do such a thing. "Why hello there." she greated the smile growing on her face. "My name is Huwayda and who are you?" she asked
He flicked his tail as she regarded and spoke to him. Yes, she seemed nice. Much nicer than his bratty sister. "It's nice to meet you, Huwayda." And he nodded his little head in greeting, the very picture of politeness. "I am Sutekh. Just a cub." He scrunched his face up at the sound of that. "Once I'm older I'll have a rank, or title. But just 'cub' for now I guess." He was so ready to be grown.
Huwayada laughed at Sutekh's introduction. "Well it is nice to meet you Sutekh." she said staying in her lay down position she lifter her head. "I wouldn't say that you are JUST a cub. You are a wonderful cub, cubhood is one of the best times of life. You get to do whatever you want, if you don't want to do anything at all then you can do just that, when you get older people frown at you for doing nothing."
She smiled her Sa often told her that she needed to do more, that being so lazy wasn't good. But she blamed her father, Illori was the one who always found laying about. She smiled thinking about two of the men in her life. She had such a great family.
"So tell me more about yourself Sutekh." shesaid laying her head down on her paws again and looking up towards the cub.
Hmm. "Being a cub means I am small though. And I can't fight the vultures or go far without an adult. I can't hunt for the pride and I don't know how to do other things. All I can do is sit around and eat. I want to be grown, so I can be helpful." He was like many cubs that wanted to be grown, but rather than fear responsibility, he was ready to embrace it.
"Well I am a good cub. I try to keep clean and do what I'm told. I have gray fur all over. My father is a nanny, and very nice. Mother is more stern, but she is loving and nice too. I have many, many siblings, but only one my own age." He grimaced. "She likes to do silly childish things. Like shove me in the mud."
Huwayda made a tisking sound when he talked about his sister, "A siblings, life would be boring without them, but they do tend to drive on crazy don't they." she giggled nudging the little cub slightly. "I come from a large family I have six siblings that are older then me, and eight siblings in my litter... my den was always busy." She smiled, the den was getting more empty now, he older siblings ahd long since moved out and some of her litter mates were on their way out as well.
"You do sound like a very good cub Sutekh, I know I was no where near as good as you when I was just a cub I was no where near as good as you. I never kept myself cleanmy poor father's had their work count out wiht me." she smiled her fahters loved her none the less.
"So tell me, what do you want to be when you get big and strong?"
He nodded sympathetically. What could one do when they had such excited siblings? He'd asked her to not get him so dirty, but she kept on. He couldn't be too mad though, she was his sister after all...but ti made more work for their parents and it just felt so icky!
"I would like to be a scribe I think. Something respectable and of use. I need to learn to do that job though. And mother and father say I'm too little." He could not know that fate would comspire against his plans. He was just a cub, and thought his future was in his own paws. And thinking that, he smiled. "I don't think I would be good at hunting or minding cubs. Both sound just too dirty and...well, like they take too much energy. Maybe my sister will do that."
"How about you? Have you taken up a job yet? Obviously you're good with cubs...well ones like me at least. I guess other, more rowdy ones could be more work."
Huways smilded she liked how into being clean this cub was everyone had their own little quircks and she felt that this was a rather endearing little quirk. "Hmmm when I get older, well I never want to get older, but I suppose one does not have the choice." she said a crooked ssmile on her face.
"Well lets see I have though about being many things. My fathers well one is a Scribe, he is much like me very laid back lazy even. My other father is a Gaurdian. He works hard at what he does... I don't take care after him much though." truth was Ilori was her biological father, and Sepoko was just his other daddy. "Oh and my mother is a cub sitter. So I don't know what I am going to do, I was thinking cub sitter, I like cubs after all, though you put it well I like cubs like you best. The energetic ones I don't deal with as well. I don't think I would make a very good hunter, I don't like to chase things, so perhaps the job for me is a scribe, but we will see what the future brings."
Huwayda rose to her feet, "Well Sutekh, I must get going, Father would have brought food home by now, and I don't want to miss my chance to eat. I do hope we talk again soon, and I must say that you are a wonderful cub, I hope if I have cubs one day that they are just like you." She smiled as she turned to walk away resting her paw on the young males head just for a minute. "Goodbye"
He listened well to her and thought. Two fathers? Such a strange thought. "Hmm. So you have three jobs you could know a lot about. Interesting." He'd never, ever heard of someone with three parents before. How did that work? He didn't think anyone could have two dads...
"Ah, well...alright." Her sudden urge to leave surprised him. Had he done something wrong? She'd said he was good though...Maybe she just had to go. He sat back on his haunches and tilted his head to the side. "It was nice to meet you...Goodbye then." He was happy he'd made a new friend but...now he was all alone again, and he felt even more lonely.
