It hadn't taken Claire very long to fully explore the floors above and below ground that she was able to (obviously excluding the higher-ups quarters and offices, and certain departments such as cloning and demolitions; she didn't want to get blown up her first week here), and had a pretty decent map of everything in her head. She'd need to go back and explore again briefly once or twice within the next few days to ensure she wouldn't forget, but she'd get to that in the morning.
Stepping out of the elevator and onto the second underground floor, she walked down the hallway with the intent of finding an empty training room. The one she'd found earlier had been occupied, but Odette hadn't wanted to leave for whatever reason. They had some serious training to do, however, which required focus and no distractions. Another Rocket and a pair of Pidgeys (male Pidgeys, to be precise) made for quite the distraction. Not so much because Odette was interested in them, moreso because she wasn't interested at all. And as with some human males, no obviously means yes if one tries hard enough.
The young woman let out a small sigh at the thought as she slowed before one of the doors. Peering inside, the room seemed to have a few obstacles (fake rocks? Or were they real? It didn't matter) and had no one in it, as far as she could tell, unless they were hiding of course.
"Odette," she said after expanding a pokéball and releasing the golden bird pokémon in a flash of white light, "let's get to work. We had too many distractions earlier to really focus."
"Pidgeoo~" The bird crooned as she slowly glided in a semi-circle, landing on a rock. When she realized their whereabouts and heard her trainer's statement, she clacked her beak in irritation. "Geo..."
"Yes, I know we trained earlier, but that was more of a practice training than anything. Again, there were too many distractions," she explained. "You want to help me with missions, don't you? You can't if we don't get some serious training in, so let's get started. Warm up with a few laps around the room."
What?! Of course she wanted to help! Who else would protect Claire from harm? Or worse, from males? With an eager flap of her wings, Odette chirruped an agreement and soared into the air, starting to make large circles around the spacious room.

It was time for her daily training session with her Pokemon, and like always, Nikki went to the same room. For some reason she preferred it over the others, and in fact had pushed other people out of it so that she could use it.
Thus there was a frustrated sound that came from the doorway when the agent arrived. Yet again, someone else was already in there! And naturally it was another rookie. This seemed to be a growing trend. The blonde frowned and put her hands on her hips.
At her side was a large male Pidgeot, the usual brown coloration on his back was instead black. A crest of red and blue streaming from his head to red tail. Gray beak clacked once and red eyes narrowed as he quickly took notice of the other Pidgeot.

It was Odette who noticed the pair first, and upon spying the other Pidgeot her own eyes narrowed. Had she been on the ground she would've done something, but since she was in the air -- and knew Claire was watching and would reprimand her for stopping before she was finished -- she swooped into another circle around the room.
Violet eyes watched the graceful form fly around the training area, giving her wings a few flaps now and then, but mostly gliding. Humm, maybe outside training would be good to get her more used to winds and build up her wing muscles more. They were already well developed, of course, but Claire couldn't be satisfied with that. She wouldn't be satisfied with that. Both of them had to push themselves to the limit to get anywhere.
But when the golden bird had glanced to the door before circling again, the grunt looked over and spotted the pair. Huh, again? But this time someone else had walked in on her, not the other way around. One look at the woman's uniform, though, instantly told her she was a superior. An agent, she was pretty sure, and her superior regardless.
"I'm sorry, were you going to use this room?" She asked while quickly lifting her hand into a salute. "I'm Claire, by the way. Just transferred in from Johto. Who might I be addressing, if I may ask?" She'd of course did her homework and knew the names of all the higher-ups, but a description on a computer matched with a name didn't do much for her. Faces, yes, words on a screen, no.

The blonde agent folded her arms and walked a few more paces into the room. Her attention on the trainer rather than the light colored bird. Darkfeather followed, turning his gaze away from the female Pidgeot with a huff.
"I can see that," Nikki replied. It was rather easy to pick out new recruits. "I'm Nikki, and this is my usual training area." So yes, she had been about to use it.
The dark Pidgeot ruffled his feathers and started to preen himself, tuning out the humans and the other Pokemon

Well, it shouldn't have been any surprise. An experienced agent should be able to easily spot the newer grunts and trainees quite easily. "Ah yes, thank you," she said with a polite bow. "Nikki, pleasure to meet you." Nikki, she remembered reading about her from the database. Much easier to put a face to a name.
Odette didn't like either one of the pair, especially now that they were speaking to her trainer. With a clack of her beak, the gold bird continued her laps until she saw Claire raise her hand and signal for her to come down. Happy to oblige, she angled her wings down and glided around to land next to the violet-eyed young woman. She eyed the other Pidgeot critically before taking a step or two closer to her owner and began to preen a bit.
Claire took a moment to study the black Pidgeot at Nikki's side, noting his size and how healthy he looked. She must take excellent care of him. Looking back at the agent, she offered a slight nod. "Would you like us to leave?" That was.. still a bit odd. She could understand having a preference of one room over another, but making someone else leave to use it? That was... rude, but since she was her superior, she couldn't really do or say anything. Oh well, it wasn't like there weren't plenty of other rooms almost exactly like this one..

There was a pause as Nikki considered this question. In most cases she would probably say yes. However, there were reasons that gave her pause. One... this new recruit was actually polite and respectful to her superior. Two... she owned a Pidgeot, which bumped up the agent's opinion of her. And three... she was curious to see how she handled the bird.
"No. You can stay. So long as you don't get in my way."
With that, Nikki walked to another area in the room and started releasing Pokemon. Darkfeather followed once again, his back to the other Pidgeot and its trainer.

Claire was actually honestly surprised at the agent's response. She'd expected a flat-out no, maybe a bit of a pause to think about it, but a yes? That was completely unexpected. Maybe it was because she also had a Pidgeot..? That had to have been a part of it.
Whatever the reason, she wouldn't let it get to her head.
"Of course not," she replied with another polite nod. Claire was by no means a suck-up. She respected her superiors, as long as they deserved it of course, and would treat them as such. She wouldn't put up with crap, however. "Come, Odette," she said and signaled for her to follow her as she walked towards the opposite end, so as to decrease the likelihood of interfering with Nikki's training.
Well, so far her trainer hadn't seemed to be annoyed with this woman, so the golden bird found no reason to be annoyed with her either. Maybe she could even impress her? With that thought in mind, she chirped in reply and glided after Claire before perching carefully on her shoulder, and the young woman reached up to pet her side.
"Let's continue on as if they're not here, don't pay attention to them. We need to focus. And when I say we, I mean you," she said with emphasis on the 'you', catching Odette looking at the pair on the other side of the arena. She looked back to her owner with a small, sheepish peep of a reply. Claire eyed her before continuing. "Now that you're warmed up, go and whip up a gust attack. Contain it though, do not interrupt their training. You have to learn to control your attacks. We'll work on combinations afterward. Make me proud, or I won't give you a bath later." Granted, food would be an easier reward, but she knew the vain bird regarded cleanliness and looks above meager treats. But if offering baths and the like worked, which it had so far, then she would do it.
An excited "geoo!" was her response. A gust attack was easy! But controlling it wasn't quite as easy. But there was no way she could blow off her trainer's instructions: There was a potential bath at stake.
Her wings snapped out and she carefully launched off of her owner's shoulder, flapping her wings several times to gain altitude. Once she was at a good height, she faced the wall so she could try to contain it and keep it as far from the other pair as possible. "Pidgeoo!" She began beating her wings harder, stirring up an increasingly large gust of wind. She circled around it a bit, flapping her wings to feed more air into it, but more or less keeping most of it in that area. A slight breeze escaped into the middle of the room, but that was it.
"Good," Claire said, and made a slashing motion with her right hand. "End it."
Finally receiving what she'd been hoping for -- that small bit of praise -- the golden Pidgeot quickly swooped into the middle of the gusting winds and beat her wings to push a bit of air in the opposite direction, nullifying the gusts and quieting it down until even the breeze was gone. With that, she glided down with a huff and landed before her trainer, flapping her wings a couple times to loosen them up. "Pidgeot!"

Having moved off to the side to ignore Claire and her Pidgeot for now, Nikki tossed a ball to release her rarest Pokemon. What appeared as the squat form of a Torkoal, who looked up as its new trainer bent down in front of him.
"Well now. Time to see what you've got, and adjust your attacks. Are you ready?"
"Torkoal," the fire Pokemon stated, peering at his trainer with its squinty eyes and a nod.
"Good." Nikki stood up and looked to Darkeather thoughtfully. He was probably too strong to pit against the Torkoal off the bat. The Pidgeot taking a moment to stretch his wings while leering down at the fire type before glancing at the loud female beyond.
"All right, how about you Bira." The Eevee appeared as Nikki summoned in, the moody little fluffball perking its ears. The two Pokemon faced each other.
"All right, Honu, show me what you know."
"Koal!" the Torkoal started out belching a thick cloud of smoke in a smokescreen.

Claire reached down to stroke the bird's head. "Very good, Odette. You may take a small break for a minute or two." The Pidgeot crooned at the attention, then ruffled her feathers and stayed in the same spot, resting for the time being. Claire had high expectations of her one and only Pokemon, but they weren't so high as to force the flying-type to continue on until she fainted from sheer exhaustion. That would just be cruel.
Taking the opportunity she'd given herself, the violet-eyed young woman turned to study Nikki and her pokemon. A Torkoal? Hmm, she hadn't seen one of those around the base yet. And an Eevee, too, however Claire was more interested in the Pidgeot and Torkoal.
Smokescreen... That seemed like a good distraction. But sand attack worked like a charm for the pair, especially out in the desert.

Standing next to Darkfeather, Nikki watched the two Pokemon face off while giving the black bird a scritch under the chin. Which he seemed to enjoy, although he tried not to make it look like he was enjoying it too much since there were strangers in the room.
Bira, the Eevee, coughed and sputtered from the Smokescreen before hunkering down and Growling at the Torkoal.
The fire tortoise seemed unbothered by this and open its mouth to spew burning Embers at the Eevee.
Nikki glanced up from the mini battle for a moment to look at the Pidgeot across the room. It was pretty, certainly, although she had to wonder how Darkfeather would do against it.

Humm. Seizing the opportunity after studying Nikki's pokemon battle each other, Claire whipped out her pokedex from a small black shoulder bag she'd brought with her, and proceeded to type several things into it fairly quickly. Slacking on her training she was not; instead, she was jotting down quick notes about possible attacks and other types that would work well with her and Odette's abilities in the field.
That done, she put the device back in her bag and slung it back over her shoulder, and turned her attention back on the golden bird. She'd noticed that Nikki had glanced over at them, however briefly, and the grunt hmm'd to herself. She really hoped the superior agent didn't want to battle her - she knew without hesitation that she would lose. How badly was the question. All of Odette's moves, heck, Odette herself, she'd geared all of that and her expertise towards being useful out in the field, not in battles. The golden flying-type would probably fair poorly on the battlefield if it came right down to it.
"Odette, break's over," she stated, thinking only for a moment or two on her next command. She really needed to come up with new routines to keep things interesting. "Sand attack next. Again, in the corner, and make sure it doesn't interrupt their training."
Simple enough for the bird, who replied with a soft chirp as she moved away a few steps before unfolding her wings. With one beat, two, and she was off the ground again, maintaining a healthy distance above the ground, and she studied the ground, trying to find the perfect point to--
"Standing. No diving into it this time. I want to see you do it from a standing point. And do not move your feet," she added.
Oh. That made it a little harder. Not much, but still, Odette liked to dive into it. That made it so much easier to stir up lots of dust and make it better. Still, she'd do whatever Claire told her, so she glided down to the ground. Adjusting her position a bit, she dug her talons into the floor of the room and immediately started beating her wings fairly quickly, stirring up a small whirl of dust and sand. It swiftly grew into a blinding, sandy vortex about up to her chest - no, now above her head - and she continued to feed air and sand into the base of it, trying to make sure it stayed in one spot.
"Hmm.. Maybe whirlwind would be better than gust..." She'd have to look into the advantages and disadvantages of both before making the final decision.

This was only a mock battle so that Nikki could see what attacks the Torkoal actually had. Nevermind that she could just scan him with her Rocketdex. She wanted to see how the Torkoal fought in all.
The fire type seemed relatively calm and focused against the brash and impulsive Eevee. It took the lowering of its attack in stride, and simply renewed its focus in a Curse which then increased its stats.
Bira then charged at the Torkoal in a Quick Attack, only to have her opponent dodge. The smokescreen from before making her vision less than optimal.
The blonde lifted a brow as she watched and listened to Claire's commands and comments. Sand Attack, Whirlwind, and Gust... all rather low level basic moves, well suited for Pidgey... even Pidgeotto... but for an evolved Pidgeot? That was rather odd.
"Tell me... Is that your only Pokemon?" Nikki asked of the grunt, having noticed that she had yet to bring out any more.

"Hmm?" What had she asked? Oh, yes. It was a little hard to hear from the distance and the practicing pokemon. "Yes, she's my sole pokemon. I'm currently trying to figure out which other types would work well with our abilities. Possibly electric," she explained, the last bit said thoughtfully and more to herself than to Nikki.
She blinked, looking back towards the superior Rocket. "I train Odette more for work in the fields, with attacks that would be useful in a mission or otherwise, and that may not be a very strong or damaging attack. Sand attack, for example," Claire explained while the bird continued said attack. "Not so much for battling. I know I still have some work to do in regards to the best moves for field work." Here she hesitated, seeming to be attempting to figure something out. It took but a moment or two, apparently, because she continued fairly quickly. "Would you.. happen to have any suggestions..?"

Bird narrowed her eyes, obviously displeased with her miss. She growled lowly to herself and rushed at the Torkoal yet again. This time it struck, although impacting with a sturdy tortoise was not exactly pleasant.
Honu cringed slightly but the attack didn't seem to bother him too much. Nikki hummed to herself as she noticed this. Torkoal had high defense, but it also was possibly a higher level. After all, there was no telling where the fire type had come from, and she had not been focusing on training her Eevees as much.
The Torkoal then counter attacked with a rushing steam of fire, that then surrounded Bira completely. The Eevee flattening her ears as there seemed to be no escape. Fire Spin.
Nikki frowned as she listened to Claire. "Get more Pokemon for one. Having only one severely limits you. Plus, you need a solid battler for situations in which you have to fight. Its a waste to have a large Pokemon like Pidgeot and not put some good moves on it. I leave moves for missions on smaller and weaker Pokemon."
She smirked as she glanced at Darkfeather, who just ruffled his feathers.

"Yes," Claire started, an amused noise escaping her as she exhaled, "that would be the first thing I need to do. I do realize I'm severely limited with just one pokemon, and whenever I spend time outside the base I do look for others to capture, but when I do see any, they're all weak little things. I don't want to waste time on those," she explained dismissively. Catching a strong one would work better, as it would be far better training- and strength-wise than an inherently weak one. A weak one could possibly be trained enough to be moderately strong, but that wasn't good enough.
"So, for the time being until I can obtain more, strong pokemon, Odette is the only one I have for both battling and for missions. While she does know Sand Attack and Gust for mission purposes, she also knows Fly and Quick Attack, though I may replace one of the three less important ones with another move," this last part said more to herself as she thought about it. But which attack would she get rid of, and what would she replace it with? Hmm... With that thought in mind, the young woman pulled out her pokedex again and began sifting through all the moves Odette could learn, be it through levels, TM's, or some sort of tutor.
