Waves crashed against the shore but it didn't stop the blue lioness from stepping boldly into the cool waters. "Oooh." A purr of pleasure escaped before Iara slipped beneath the surface. She swam through the waters with ease and only let out breath after scaring some fish in the reefs. Bubbles escaping from her mouth the lioness shot towards the surface. Well that was fun. Though as she started back towards the shore Iara let out a sigh. She hated getting out of the water, but she knew that she should be exploring more of the beach side. No telling what she would find after last night's storm.

Seas lolling sounds rolled over his ears as he padded towards the waters edge. His mouth stretched in a wide yawn, the sand catching in his heavy paws. He was tired, it had been a long night on the borders but he couldn't resist taking a paddle before bed. His large head lolled almost between his paws as he flopped in to the water, a large soggy splash causing a halo of rainbow coloured water to leap over his spine as he rested in the slightly choppy waves. He didn't even notice the blue lioness so busy was he resting on the bah letting the water splash against his ample sides.

"Pst, open your eyes Posey, theres someone in the water and you look like a soggy rat." A tiny red bird clacks her beak almost buried in his jet black mane, her small beady eyes fixed on the blue lioness. She pulls a strand of his mane and chuckles. "Come on big boy you need to sit up now."

Poseidon opened one eye and slowly clambered to his paws, his jaws once again stretching in a wide roaring yawn. "Alright lassie I 'ear ya!" He licks his lips looking at the choppy waves his golden eyes resting on the deep blue lioness. "I be sorry if I was a scarein' ya lassie. I din't hardly notice ya in tha water there." He chuckles sleepily stifling another yawn and shaking his head. It wasn't like him to not greet someone new in an exuberant manner, but he was ever so sleepy.

Iara truthfully hadn't noticed the larger lion yet and was carefully pulling at a strand of moss that would be good for carrying water. Her serious expression was almost comical as she bit down hard and strained against the moss's rock. She about had it...there! Flopping back on the sands the lioness let out a short laugh of victory before pausing. Did...was - yup.

Startled she jumped up at the larger lion's call before grinning, "No scare! I just didn't notice ya." Her tail flicked behind her as she studied the lion. He was obviously a pride member, but she was new and definitely hadn't gotten everyone memorized yet. She was too busy learning all the strings of being a healer and such. "So you are you?" She asked directly before walking up towards him. Her gaze settled on the bird and she smiled at her as well. "Oh! I'm Iara by the way."

The big male smiled a simple charming smile and nodded his head his thick jet black mane curling in to his eyes. "Tha names Poseidon, Border guard, born 'o Nahodha'kota and Khepri, pleasure to meet ya lassie." He yawns ever so slightly flickering his tail, his ears vanishing in to his thick mane. "I'm right sorry lassie for bein' so rude an' yawnin' Been on tha border for most 'o tha night."

The little bird flutters her small wings and bobs, though the bob could hardly be seen she was so buried in the large lions mane. "Just call him Posey, it's easier to remember and I'm Amphitrite but but most people call me Am."

Oh, a border guard? She had always admired those that filled such a position - especially since fighting was not her thing. Definitely not. Not to mention it was hard for her to even try to look threatening, let alone guarding something for so long. The lioness shook her head, "It's fine, Poseidon. I would be tired to with a job like that. It's already wearing me down just being with the rest of the healers!" She grinned before grinning at Amphitrite, "Alright, Am and Posey then. I would give you a name to call me, but I figure Iara is pretty short already."

Poseidon chuckles lightly shaking his dark head, his golden eyes smiling. "Don't be thinking I be a known' ya, an I aint seen ya round so do ya be a newbie to tha pride?" He grins just a touch "How ya liken' tha waves? She's a bin a beautiful mistress wouldn't ya say?" He smiles looking out at the water for a moment. "Healer eh? Tha healing' larks a game for them who be clever. Just have to sit on tha borders for plenty of hours. Course, Am 'els me, she can bout spot a lion from ten miles away. Them birds eye views are handy."

The little red bird clacks her beak. "He likes to state the obvious Iara." She chuckles. "Especially when he's sleepy."

Iara grinned at the lion, "Right. I'm a new comer - err...newbie as you said." She chuckled at him before nodding quickly, "A very beautiful mistress! She's the reason I finally settled myself down in a pride. I still can't believe how wonderful everything is here." A soft sea breeze swept by and she closed her eyes inhaling the sweet scent. This was definitely home. "Heh. I wouldn't be able to keep still for so long." Iara shook her head, "What a guard I'd be, lettin' all sorts of things inside just because I got distracted by things." She chuckled at the bird, "I see that."

He smiles and flickers his tail shaking his head. "I be fairly certain I'd never be able to heal anyone." He glances at the waves momentarily and shakes his large fluffy head. "aye, tha sea makes everything better." he chuckles a little, he fully believed his own words. "I aint never lived any where but beside tha sea, has always been my home." He smiles lightly "I'm glad you like it here. Theres no greater lands ta live on than on tha beach by tha waves."

The little red bird clicks her beak. "You're starting to ramble poesy, maybe its time for bed?" She looks at the deep blue female and bobs a bit.

"Aye, aye, can have a min yet though Am. I can take ya to the border sometime if ya like. I be fairly sure thar are some plants on tha borders ya can't get in tha sea. I know tha surrounding' areas like tha back of my paw."

She beamed at the compliment before following his gaze to the ocean, "Aye, that it does." She made a face, "Trust me. Living by the sea is better than being in any other place." Iara remembered the places she had visited as a rogue. None had even half the appeal that her new home had for her.

Laughing she nodded at the bird. "I shouldn't keep you up. Even strong guards like you need their rest." She teased before nearly bouncing with excitement, "Oooh! I would love that. Would you really?" Her eyes sparkled. She hadn't been able to visit much of the border at all yet. Not to mention that chance to get to know the lion standing in front of her better.

"Course lassie, when ever ya like! I be appreciation' a companion on tha borders that aint my lil birdie buddy here." He chuckles and cocks his head a little so that the little bird has to grip his head and flutter a bit to regain her place. "Am be known best really, she's a real mother hen." He chuckles getting to his dark paws and stretching out his heavy muscles, he was clearly built to be a guard.

"Tall ya what, ya can't miss my family den, tis usually crowded with lions my size." He chuckles, his whole family had the giant gene, "Be common round about sunset an ah'll take ya out for a night under tha stars if ya like, twill be a clear night tonight I reason and you'll be able to see plenty by tha moon to find ya herbs."

The little red bird clicks her beak in an irritated manner tugging single strands of the large lions mane. "Get home to bed Posey before you collapse." She turns her dak beady eyes on the deep blue lion and bobs "Seems we will see you again soon ma'am, you take care now alright?"

Yawning widely and loudly the big male turns towards the dens with a last nod and a smile. "Ave a good day lassie, don't be working' too hard." He smiles padding off to get some well deserved rest.

"Alright." Iara grinned like a cub at the idea of a moonlight walk. Not only was she going to find plenty of good herbs, but a good friend. The lioness tilted her head respectfully to the bird, "Of course. You take care as well." Laughing she started walking away. Working too hard? Never! Well at least in her opinion anyway. Iara smiled as she took one last peek over her shoulder to watch the pair dissapear from sight. Maybe she should get some rest too...after she got some things back to the other healers of course. As an after thought the lioness let out a soft 'goodbye' before leaving as well. [end]
