I was looking at some of the older threads, and I don't think this popped up...
You know how when you hear a name for the first time, sometimes it doesn't stick? And you end up messing up the name a good couple of times before you learn 'It's not that, it's this.'
Or as your reading a story, you start giving characters nicknames because of their behaviours or what they do (Like in Bleach the captains have fan-dubbed nicknames: Soi Fon = Captain b***h Ninja, Tousen = Captian No One Likes You.)
What about in .Hack? What did you use to call characters on accident or what nicknames have you given them?
I call Haseo 'Hussy-Hoe' in the back of my mind XD And Ovan is the 'Creeper From The Blue Lagoon.' heart

Nicknames I give are usually just shortenings of their names, but I guess I'll share some anyway. I don't actually nickname many hurrdurr. XD;
Haseo: Ha-chan
Azure Kite: Azzie
Atoli: Ato
Endrance: Endy (or f**, whichever)
Wiseman/Yata/Nala/Naobi: Yata (It's just easier lol)
Piros The Third: Tea Kettle (Or just Piros)
Zelkova: Zelky
Tsukasa: Tsu-chan
Wow I can't think of any others right now...

Um....hm...I never really nickname the characters. But whenever Azure Kite appears, I freak out, and sometimes I call him Tri-Edge. Ovan's a creeper. Oh! Pi's always gonna be an Old Hag in my mind! But I blame Haseo for that XD.

I call Piros the 3rd Creeper. Cause he says he's married with a 1 year-old baby, but he's always hitting on Haseo.
I keep him very, very far away from my party. His affection is still in the red, and I'm almost halfway through Vol. 3.

Piros is a game developer for "the world" so my guess is that he leads a double life sorta. Meaning while he is passionate about the game he plays he may also be quite a business man. Which I could see why a lady would want to marry him in that case. Piros might act as though he's a bit odd but I think all in all he isn't serious about the game itself, just the graphics he designs and enjoys working with.

Which I could see why a lady would want to marry him in that case. (I'm seriously thinking that Piros is modeled after a developer of .hack)

Lets see. I usually call Atoli "Atori" cause it sounds cooler. Kite is "Mr.Sarcasm" and Balmung is "Fluffy". Oh, Ovan is Easy Bake Oven. :/ I have more but those are my most used. Oh! BlackRose is "Rosy"

But as for nicknames I've given characters...
Azure Kite: Patches
Haseo: Hase-ho, etc etc
Ovan: Subway (... I can explain), Ovanries
Silabus: Sillybus
Sirius: Tenrawr
Taihaku: Moustachio
Tawaraya: Fatty
Bordeaux: Bordesex
Those are the only ones I can remember right now, but I'm sure there were others.
