"YOUR TOUCH!"

For what may be the billionth time in a wrestling show, the arena lights went out. All of the lights were shut off and fans were starting to shift in their seats. The darkness was unsettling. However, before anyone got to thinking it was some creep with long dark hair covering their face that was covered in ugly scars, Mardy Wilkes-Booth emerges from the back.

A dimmer than average spotlight lit up Mardy's arrival, a series of equally dim lights running in a straight line down the ramp were lit up too, and by the look on Mardy's face, she was lit up too.

Her walk to the ring was very deliberate. Mardy did not want to stumble and by the looks of her uneasy steps, she could have easily took a tumble. However the fans were patient and happy to see Mardy. Eventually Mardy makes it up the steel steps and into the ring.

The ring is set up special for Mardy. A musty orange rug cover a portion of the mat and on that sat a brown recliner. Mardy told people she got that at a thrift shop for three dollars. To the side of the recliner was a crooked lamp and a giant spool end table. Mardy has used this in-ring set up before. She gets comfortable in the chair and picks up the bong that had been waiting for her on the table.

If they weren't sure before they knew now, Mardy was high and only getting higher. She exhales a considerable cloud of smoke and immediately grabs for the microphone. She breaths heavily into the microphone for a moment.

"I'm sure you all bought or stole Failing Summer. I know you know what happened". She speaks out to the crowd yet her eyes are fixed somewhere far away. Shaking her head gradually and reaching for the blue and purple bong Mardy declares,"I don't want to talk about any of that."

"What I want to talk about is..." she pauses for a hit. Mardy pulls hard and holds it in for a good length of time. She keeps her eyes shut as she exhales an even bigger smoke cloud than before. The fans jump and cheer."Life man".

The lights went out in the arena, and a soft gentle opus began to play over the P.A. system. A spotlight shone on the stage and what appeared was far from the desired, as Mike Landry stood there sniffing a red rose, once again stealing the spotlight.

Landry was dressed in a brand new black Armani suit with red undershirt, his blonde hair had apparently gotten longer as it was tied back in a pony tail. His eyes were closed as he smelled his rose, before tilting his head towards the ring and staring directly into Mardy’s soul. He stuffed the little red rose into his breast pocket and pulled a microphone out from his pocket, and he began strolling down the ramp.

“Mardy…Mardy…Mardy…how fate has chosen not to shine its light on a lovely face such as yours is a mystery lost in the turbulent sands of reality. Forsooth, our empire which stands on the foundation of tyranny and oppression of freedom and love, has found yet another victim with a simple glance into your shimmering blue eyes.”

Landry was once again spinning his web of pretty words and lies on yet another unsuspecting soul. The fans seemed to know what was happening, but only time would tell if Mardy did.
Landry walked up the steel steps and slipped into the ring, standing directly in front of Mardy, eyes locked on hers. He reached up and snatched the rose once again from his pocket and offered it to the woman, sliding it gently into her hair. He whipped the hair from her face and gave her a debonair smile and a wink, before one again raising his microphone to speak while the music continued.

“Mardy…your tragic life is the stuff of legends…fodder for the great playwrights to spin tales of misery and woe that live on as classics through the centuries. It is also an American tale, a tale that dictates exactly what our unforgiving…unloving society has become so accustomed to doing to people like you and me. You see, I know you. I understand you. You…you are the one person in the billions and billions of heartless monsters who truly understands pain…and love.”

The audience was growing restless, booing over the sound of the music. However, under orders from Michael apparently, the music had gone up in volume to increase the ambiance of the moment.

“A brilliant, free spirited mind that winds up in Las Vegas, living in poverty and depression with a husband who knows no more about himself than he does you. He dragged you down deeper…clinging and feeding on you for survival. He drags you into this even crueler world of professional wrestling in a desperate last gasp attempt to shine with your glorious light beaming onto him. But you outshone him…you became successful in a world you didn’t belong in…in a world that didn’t want you. But you never wanted this life did you? You just wanted to live your life. But life didn’t want you either, life compelled you to remain here where you were thrown to wolves without a shelter to survive with.”

Landry paused for a moment to see his words sinking into Mardy’s mind, gauging how she was responding to his words.

“Mardy…I can be your shelter. I can be the one who can guide you through this life that has devastated and taken the lives of so many before you. Stronger people. Smarter people. This world has no favorites. It has no mercy. It leaves no one standing without forcing them to fight a war that no one wants. I too have lived the life of devastation and Heartbreak, and I want to guide you through it so that the world does not lose one of its precious souls. However,”

Landry paused and his romantic face turned into one of great severity and seriousness.

“You must trust me. You must never question me. And you must ALWAYS…do what I tell you to without protest. For if I sense the slightest amount of hesitance on your part, if I see the most minute amount of reluctance to my guidance…my support will end, and you will be left back in the gutter you crawled out of. But if you trust me. If you give me your undying support and resolute servitude, I will return it with my eternal love and affection. The kind that you always deserved.”

The fans could see clearly just what Landry was trying to do to yet another diva and immediately voiced their disapproval, trying to warn Mardy against trusting the Heartbreaker.

“The choice is yours. Do you choose love? Or a life of eternal depression and drifting lost in a world that’s only desire is to destroy everything that you are? Please Mardy…I want you to choose the former. Don’t reduce yourself to the latter.”

Mardy would have to remember later to apologize to whomever it was that told them how long they had once they went out there. She took a bizarre length of time to register everything Mike Laundry said. It was so much at once! Not to mention now Mardy was considering the way in which she gets her thoughts in order is through tiny little orange men in her mind that file each thought through a large database that looks like toes. Yeah, she had a lot before she showed up tonight.

Could anyone really blame Mardy though? All of the things Laundry was saying was making sense to her. Her life was absolute crap! The saddest part was Mardy was well aware of how crappy her life was.

She has had to return to wrestling after what she believed was going to be her retirement. However, her boyfriend whom she had thought was going to support her dumped her. Mardy was desolate. Here she thought she had found everything that her ex husband was not and she gets tossed to the curb like a couple of black garbage bags after a frat party. Naughty boys.

Her life was only getting worse too! She was losing her matches, like at Falling Summer. Laundry was there too. Mardy was beginning to believe Laundry. She would love for someone to be here shelter. She would even settle for someone showing her how to find the hotels after each show because it was getting really old sleeping in the car.

She finally shifts in her recliner. Placing her feet down carefully, Mardy looks like she is about to stand. She moves forward to the edge of the seat, but instead of standing she all but collapses back into the chair. Mardy was weeping! She wails so much the crowd begins to react with a giant, "Awww!"

Mardy cries and cries and cannot seem to do anything but cry. However that's when Mardy lunged forward at Laundry. What looks like a possible attack turns into a request for a hug. As Mardy accepts Laundry into her life the crowd boos. 'How could she be so stupid?' they think. When the question should be: 'Does Mardy even know what she just agreed to?'

Landry accepts her hug and holds her tightly against her chest, stroking her hair in an effort to calm her. It appeared she had accepted his offer of love and protection and Landry couldn’t help but smile a wicked smile.

“Shhhh…shhh…it’s alright now…” Landry said into Mardy’s ear, gently pushing her away and regaining eye contact.

“Now, if you truly trust me unconditionally, then I can begin delivering you to your new life…and salvation.” He said with an enigmatic inflection.

Landry let go of Mardy and turned his back, slowly began removing his suit jacket before speaking again.

“Now unfortunately Mardy…the only thing in life…the only constant for every single person on God’s Green Earth…is pain. Now, I can shield you from the pain of the outside world, protect you from anyone ever hurting you ever again. I can make sure you no one ever hurts you again, but if you never felt the anguish of pain then I’d be upsetting the natural order of things. Do you understand? Pain must exist, and it must be experienced by all, or else life would have no purpose. And so…”

Landry turned back around and backhand slapped Mardy in the face as hard as he could.

“In order for me to save you, you’re going to have to trust me to supply the appropriate amount of pain for you in order for you to live the life that you always deserved. A life of love…fulfillment…success…and scheduled, anticipated, and controlled pain and disappointment.”

Mardy's waterworks pause for a moment. Just long enough for her to consider everything. For the first time since Falling Summer, Mardy's mind was beginning to piece some things together. She was finally thinking, all right, so first... I come back to.. uh.. this place. I get a match than bam! This dude Laundry shows up. Or was he supposed to be there? Anyway he was there and some crazy s**t happens!

Now, Mardy was pretty much minding her own business, talking about life, and yeah all of that stuff. Out of the blue, Laundry breezes in with this big speech about pretty heavy stuff, smelling pretty good too. Mardy catches a whiff of him during their hug, but too soon Laundry pulls away and makes eye contact. This was bad! Eye contact now was not Mardy's idea of a good time. She looks down at the mat, but makes sure to look up at his face. Hmm, not bad too. Maybe a little scruff and...

Conditioner? Did he just say something about conditioner. What was he talking about: Delivery? From what Mardy gathered, he was asking her to deliver him conditioner in order to reach her salvation. Not a bad trade off? In fact, Mardy was coming out on top here. Who would pass a deal like this? Conditioner for salvation and a new wife.

Wait.. what? Mardy didn't play for that team. Well, there was this one time. Maybe he meant she would be his wife. Mardy nearly shook her head. She might have actually shook her head in fact. She would definitely have to watch this episode and find out if she did or did not shake her head, but how would she remember to do that? She would have to write herself a note to get a copy of this somewhere. Mardy didn't have a pen though. Maybe she could ask Laund--

SMACK!

OUCH! WHAT THE HELL! What did Mardy do to this guy to make him hit her in the face like that. She was like Snooki in that episode of Jersey Shore that MTV won't play anymore. You know, the only good episode. Damn, that meant that this was bound to go down in history as a good episode, like infamy. She kept her hand against the right side of her face where he hit her as if it would help any of the prickling pain she felt go away. This was going to sting for awhile.

Mardy was kind of scared. It was also kind of obvious too. She had recoiled a little after the smack and her knees were shaking. Her eyes certainly show a lot more fear than they had before. The crowd was booing too. Mardy had the feeling they were booing at her. Did they hate her now?

There was nothing Mardy could say or do right now. She was too scared to speak up because she was too high to run or fight if she needed to. Usually it's not a problem for her. Tonight was just too much. She came up with a very quick idea: "If I don't move then he can't see me."

Okay that didn't work because he was looking right at her and talking. He was saying something about fulfillment, success, and love. Gosh. Fulfillment always made for the best highs, success always guaranteed good highs, but love topped them all. Love was the greatest. Love was everything to Mardy.

New plan: Nod and smile and agree to everything Laundry says. MMMM, is that popcorn?

Landry stood over Mardy with a menacing presence, staring down at her as if to look into her soul, trying to discover whether or not she was truly willing to go through with this.

Without taking his eyes off of Mardy’s he raised his hand and made a gesture towards the ramp, and a spotlight shone on the stage where a no-named stagehand appeared with a briefcase. It was the same briefcase that Landry had with him while he was watching Mardy’s Fatal Fourway match last Sunday. It was blatantly clear now that Landry’s interests no longer included Phoenixfire, Brody, or even the Derific Championship. He was focused solely on Mardy.

The stagehand climbs into the ring and hands Landry the briefcase, and without being acknowledged for his assistance he instantly leaves the ring and heads out of the arena. When he is gone, Landry unclips the clasps on the case, revealing two short metal rods. He drops the case on the mat and takes out the two steel rods, fixing them together to form one longer rod.
Landry held it up in front of his eye and admired it for a moment or two, no one knew exactly what he was holding. Then Landry reached into his pocket and pulled out what appeared to be a pendant of some sort. It had a strange design on it that the camera could barely make out. Then Landry attached the pendent to the steel rod, and the audience slowly began to piece together what this device was.

Landry pressed a button the handle and the rod sparked to life, and the pendant on the end began to glow white hot. It was a cattle brander.

The audience began to boo incessantly in disapproval for what Landry had on his mind. They tried to emplore Mardy to escape and run out of the ring, but Landry was giving her no such opportunity to do so. Slowly, Landry stepped closer to Mardy, glaring deep into her eyes before once again raising the microphone to his mouth and speaking sternly, “Stand up. Face the turnbuckle.”

This may have been the most intimidating man ever. Keep in mind, Mardy spent a month and a half living in Compton. Mike Landry made a light turn on and a person appear just by gesturing towards it. He must be a magician. A terrifying magician, almost like He Who Must Not Be Named himself! Mardy believes that the family she came from was a family of wizards and she turned out to be a squib through all her pot smoking. It was one of the drawbacks to smoking so much. No magic powers.

In the world without magic, Mardy was face to face with a burning brand. It was clear to Mardy now that Landry was not a nice man. He had evil in him. She began to feel dizzy. The noise of the crowd all mixed together and Mardy could barely make out what the fans that were shouting were saying. Everything was hazy. As Landry steps closer, Mardy crawls back to her feet. She stands just in time for him to be standing directly in front of her. He was literally backing her into the turnbuckle now.

Landry knew his intimidation factor was working, but in order for him to achieve full and undieing loyalty from Mardy, he had to make her believe he truly did care for her the way he did. A gentle smile grew across his face and for a moment it seemed the old Landry was back.

Landry got right up into Mardy's face, closeing his eyes and planting a kiss directly on her lips, kissing her for several moments. It seemed as if Landry had had a change of heart.

Landry broke the kiss, and once again raised his microphone up.

"Mardy...I need you to turn around. Now."

Mardy was a sucker for love. She was a romantic deep down in her heart. All Mardy wanted was to be loved. Pot was Mardy's favorite past time, but love was Mardy's kryptonite. She fell in love at the drop of a shitty a** AT&T phone call.

She was freshly single too and still very much broken hearted. This was a dangerous kiss. Mardy backs away from Landry after their kiss. She steps back until she is stopped by the turnbuckle. Mardy felt even dizzier now, almost like she was going to fall. Her hand catches hold of the top rope and Mardy turns to face it.

She pauses then. Mardy was facing the crowd, they were telling her to run away. Mardy could see them crying out to her. She took in where she was in life right then. She could walk away, or keep turning. Walking away would make everything go back to the way things were. She places her other hand on the top rope and it looks like she was walking out.

Mardy turns and face the corner. She holds the top rope on each side of her and gets ready. Mardy shuts her eyes and softly weeps.

Mike Landry smiles as Mardy shows her obedience and steps forward. He takes Mardy's shirt and raises it up over her head leaving her solely in her bra. He takes a moment to smell the shirt with a long sniff before dropping it to the floor.

Landry sparked up the electric branding iron once again, waiting for it to get white hot. He leans in without a microphone this time, whispering gently into Mardy's ear, "I love you Mardy."

And immediatly he jammed his iron right into Mardy's bare back with full force, watching her skin sear from the iron's intense heat!

Mardy broke her collar bone when she was seven. She was bitten by a dog and had to get fifteen stitches above her right eye when she was eight. She watched her parents fight and break up. She sprained her ankle while running across a row of metal chairs at a house show when she was fourteen. She has had five concussion. She has three tattoos. All of that pain together couldn't describe the feeling of a scorching piece of metal burning your flesh.

It was horrible. Mardy did not want to cry. She had no choice though. The moment she felt the brand Mardy screams. She clutches onto the ropes so hard that they kept her from falling on her face when she collapses forward into the turnbuckle. She hugs the top of the turnbuckle and cries into it. She would forever have Mike Landry's sign burnt into her back.

The thirty seconds it took for Landry to brand Mardy seemed like an eternity to everyone watching. Smoke was risign up from the sight of the burn and no one knew if Mardy would even be able to compete again after having a branding iron shoved into her spine.

However when Landry finally ceased his branding it was as if he had fallen into a fairy tale. He took Mardy's now weak body into his arms and held her tenderly, laying her down on the mat and supporting her neck so that he could once again gaze into her beautiful eyes.

The cameramen were able to position themselves so to see the new brand that was placed squarely on Mardy's lower back. It was the symbol of a broken heart with cursive M and L inside of it. Truly Landry must have spent a long time working on this design.
PostPosted: Wed Sep 08, 2010 9:28 pm

Mardy sobs heavily in Landry's arms. She buries her face in his shoulder and cries harder. There was just so much pain.

The obvious pain was her searing lower back. The skin around Landry's logo was red and raised now. The black color of the brand was striking against Mardy's pale skin. The broken heart was clear as day, however the M and L stood out like a transvestite at a NASCAR race. All of the fans wanted it gone.

Once the branding ended Sandra comes running out from the back with a steel chair in her hands while the crowd cheers. Sandra then slides into the ring and runs up behind Landry and would attempt to hit him in the back with the chair.
