Couches should have their backs to the wall or at least have a straight angle to them, not be all off kilter like that.

DON'T TRY TO DAMPEN MY FREE SPIRIT.
I would agree with you if that didn't mean the couch would be so far from the TV. The area behind the couch is just empty besides that futon mattress.
