Apples. It was apple time again, and Diego loved nothing more than reaching the juicy, red fruits off a tree and crunching away with happy abandon. Now and then he dropped half and it bumped against his foot, but it wasn't a chore to pick it up.

Unless it rolled underneath him, like the last one had. Common sense, perhaps, might have suggested he back up, or move, so the apple was exposed and easy to get. Diego, however, opted for a more creative route.

Spreading his forelegs until they were wide and he could bow toward the ground, he spread his wings to balance himself and thrust his head between them, straining for the apple, making him look not so much a stallion as a curiously positioned bird of some sort.

Nadia had been sent off to get her parents a bushel of apples, since they were starting to drop. She held the basket that her mothers two legger had given her in her mouth. Her longer hair curled around her ankle, and she walked along the path to the orchard. It didn't take her all that long to get there, well to her at least.

Looking forward though, her auburn eyes landed on a rather peculiar sight. She looked at the stallion that head spread himself, and sent his head under himself. What on earth was he doing...? That wasn't a proper way for an adult to behave...

She walked over to stand behind him, a look of not being impressed on her face, and she clear her throat.

He'd just closed his teeth on the apple when he noticed something. Heard something, first. Hoofbeats and then a set of hooves and lovely feathered fetlocks. No, he wasn't in a dignified position and he knew it. How best to get himself out of this one?

By straightening up, head lifting so quickly that he was, in fact, a little dizzy from the movement. He only had to sidestep once, thanks to his wing-held balance, but for a moment, there were two mares in front of him. He shook his head a little, but didn't lose the apple.

And he smiled -- or, well -- grimaced around it at her, mumbling, "s'fnace day f'rabbles."

Nadia stared at him. Not so much in disbelief but more in a, you need to grow up. Kind of way. But then again some other horses might say she grew up to fast. All she knew was she hated being around immature horses.

"Yes... It is." She looked away walking to another tree and placing the basket down, starting to carefully collect, and place apples into the basket from the tree. The stallion had been right. It was a nice day for apples. Nadia had no intention of talking with the stallion; when a gust of wind came and shook the tree canopies. She watched as an apple was starting to come loose.

"Watch out for the apple." She warned him.

Fortunately, he was paying attention. He managed to sidestep the apple as it fell. That would have been embarrassing, getting clonked on the head by an apple with the mare standing there to witness the whole thing. Of course, he might have gotten lucky. It might have rolled down his neck and settled between his wings so he could make it look like he planned it.

Probably wouldn't have worked out that way.

So he settled for a smile, and a "Thank you. For the warning." Then he looked at the basket by her hooves, looked at the fallen apple, and went over to pick it up. Carefully, mind. Wouldn't do to put tooth marks in someone else's fruit.

He carried it back to her, and her basket, and plopped it gently in with the others. "Thought you might want that one too."

Nadia raised a brow, and she thanked him. There was something about him, she couldn't tell if it was him being genuinely nice or if there was something else there. But she shrugged it off, wasn't much of her business. She plucked some more apples from the trees, and when the basket was full, she wanted to get going.

But she noticed that the stallion was still there. "Do you need help with something?" She always offered her help, that was what being a knight was all about.

Did he need help with anything? Diego flicked an ear, thinking that over. He wasn't stuck. He wasn't lost. He'd just been here, eating, and he didn't really need help with that. Still, he didn't mind company and she hadn't tried to kick him. Yet. That was something, wasn't it?

"I don't think so," he answered, picking up each foot in turn and giving his wings a ruffle and refold. "But. I could carry that basket for you, if you wanted. Wherever you're going. I don't mind." He smiled.

Nadia was capable of taking her apples back alone... And she was a little frustrated at with the stallions unwanted attention. "Listen, I know you're just trying to be nice, but I don't need it." She picked up her basket, and she started to walk off back toward her teepee.
