If you could take any Greek Myth- for example the Argonautika- how would you direct it and who would you cast in the main roles?

Myth: I would chose to direct the Odyssey, purely because I think it would be a challenge to believably recreate all of the myth (or nearly all of it)
Casting Decisions:
I would cast John Hurt as Alcinous of Phaiakia.
I would cast Peter O'Toole as Laertes.
I might cast the actor Ioan Gruffudd as Odysseus, but I'm not too sure.
Changes to plot: As little as possible.
Problems in portraying the myth: There would be difficulty in showing Odysseus' pressing need to return to his wife in the scenes where he gets prevented from continuing in his journey- like where he has to bed Circe to get home.
