AMITYVILLE ACADEMY ENROLLMENT FORM Name: Corbin Nicknames: Corb, will pretty much respond to anything Gender: Male Age: Appears to be in his late teens, has roughly been around since the 1980s.
Faction/Race Ghost - Spirit of Vengeance/Wraith (crow)
Personality: Outwardly calm but emotionally driven, he appears at ease while internally he is swirling torrent of pain, anger, confusion and an intense desire for vengeance with nowhere to place it. Corbin follows a strict eye for an eye mentality and if he is wronged, he will wrong the person in as bad a way. There is a distinct balance in his beliefs and actions; if someone steals from him, he'll steal something of equal value, nothing more and nothing less. Likewise, if someone punches him in the face, he'll punch them just the same, but will feel it's the other person's fault if it escalates. While this is ever present, he usually has a serene, almost haunting expression on and rarely breaks out of this appearance. His highs are just as bad as his lows; if he's happy, he's going to make you happy but if he begins spiraling out of control, he's going to take you down with him.
In terms of speaking, he does not use nick names and rarely ever curses. With elders, even if they are not his teachers, he will refer to them as "Mister" or "Misses", and tends to do this even with those just a year ahead of him. However, when enraged, he becomes crass and reason is lost on him, reacting on pure instinct and this will usually result in violence, but it also makes him sloppy and easy to take advantage of in battle.
While not immediately apparent, Corbin has an intense desire to help people. Perhaps this is a selfish way to constructively displace his need for vengeance but he is intent on assisting others with problems if they cannot get things done themselves and he is not afraid to be the 'bad guy' if the end result is a good one. Of course, he cannot help everyone no matter what he may want to believe and if he should fail in helping someone he will usually sulk in his room and blast everyone out with his grungy 80s metal cassettes. Where he found those is anyone's guess.
A hobby of his is collecting. Collecting what, pray tell? Pretty much anything shiny. His largest collection is of dog tags and other metallic objects, usually of some worth even if very little. He won't go around collecting bottles or cans just because they're reflective, but he may nab chains and jewelry. Only a few will he wear and largely, they are sealed up with their only purpose to be looked at. He makes great strides not to intentionally steal anything from someone, just take stuff it seems no one wants or has thrown away. Despite this, it is a compulsion, rather than a habit, and if he has not found anything to collect in a while he will get desperate, sometimes even to the point of being controlled by this compulsion. It cannot be said that he has never stolen from anyone, especially in his 'younger' ghostly years. At this current time, it would be exceedingly rare for him to steal, but not impossible; Usually when this happens he'll give it back when prompted, albeit reluctantly, but if he can manage to take something without someone noticing he will do it. Guilt then slides in and he will usually admit to the crime, either returning the object later or allowing them to take something of his (in which case of the school, he may be handing out his emblem a bit more than he should).
Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? There are a few layers to why Corbin wishes to attend, but the first and foremost, his drive for seeking it out in the first place, is to get a better handle on his natural abilities and develop his FEAR. Another is to, once his studies are complete, exact the vengeance that motivates him in death and find the cause of his own death, as well as assist in the revenge of other wronged innocents, a deathly vigilante of sorts-- he has big dreams, but who knows if he'll ever fulfill them, especially with how easily distracted he is with his collecting of shiny objects.
Classes: - Literature - Curses, Hexes and Spells - Creature Feature 101 - Stealth 1 - Gym - Human Studies - Emergency Aid
Clubs:
(at least interested in) Freakuent Fliers Occult Oracles (founder; a detective club) [tentative name] . . .
Brief History: Being a Wraith, and by extension a Ghost, it stands to reason that Corbin was once a living, breathing human. Of course, as is inevitable, the memories of life are lost with birth into death. A Wraith being a spirit of vengeance, it's a no brainer that Corbin must have died an unjust death that has left him particularly restless. He cannot recall what this event is, but he seems to think it was quite violent. That said, when Corbin gained consciousness on 'the other side' that is Halloween Town, he was not stricken with grief or apathy or even intense anger as is sometimes characteristic of his race, but instead he felt completely intent to judge people of their sins and exact revenge upon them. Of course, he could not do so without knowing exactly what they had done but this knowledge was lost on Corbin and so he stagnated a while, passing aimlessly through unlife until he heard something about a school from the few acquaintances he made; they said it was a place where they taught you how to be a proper whatever you were and to tap into the abilities that you might not have been aware of and, since Corbin could only see the vague memories of violent events, he set off for Amityville so he might learn to be a proper Wraith to condemn the damned.
Natural Ability: Flashback - Objects and creatures carry with them memories and those memories never fade. For Wraith's of Corbin's particular species, and perhaps all to a degree, these memories are the strongest emotions they will ever feel in their unlife. Merely touching an object with a memory or emotion tied to it will result in that Wraith having a very intense and physically exhausting flashback of what occurred to bring that memory into the object. This works almost exclusively with items with a traumatic memory tied to them, often causing the Wraith to become lost in the memory until it is over (to the point where they are physically acting out the memory they are experiencing) and to Corbin's frustration, he has yet to find an item that pertains to memories of his life.
FEAR: Dark Gun - With great practice, Corbin has been able to mold his ectoplasm into the shape of a gun, particularly that of his arms. There are a glowing few lights (as they appear to be) embedded into either side of the gun, symmetrically; when his 'ammo' is full they glow the same blue as his eyes, when low they glow a warning yellow and when there are no remaining shots they are an intimidating red. The transformation of his ectoplasm itself is taxing on Corbin, and so even one shot fired drains him of energy and thus his FEAR is meant for emergencies only at this time.
Year 1 - It's rather small and merely causes a stunning blast, knocking the enemy back, down, or dazing them and giving him a brief opportunity to attack or flee depending on the situation. The number of shots is limited to 3 for now, with a radius of only a couple yards so while it is a long range weapon, it is certainly no better than throwing something. Between blasts, there is a recharge time which at the current moment is set at a lagging 60 seconds.
Year 2 - design pending
Year 3 - design pending
Emblem: A white badge with a black feather hanging vertically and a drop of blood falling from the tip. Some other ideas:

Physical Description: Eye Colour: A very bright and noticeable blue, the whites of his eyes often look irritated and pinkish. His pupils are small circles, as if there's always a bright light being shined in them, and a dark circle halo's them around the middle of the iris. Hair Colour/Style: Black, messy and long. The top is short and frazzled, rather like this though it is much longer. At its shortest, it would be mid back but any length beyond that is acceptable. It is always worn down and doesn't have much volume to it, once it gets past the layered top. Skin Colour: Stark white, like a China doll. Clothing Style/Colours: A black leather spiked choker is around his neck with matching spiked bracelets on both wrists. Accompanying it are three silver necklaces, two short ones with cross pendants and a longer one with a silver ankh. On the left hand is a grey and tattered fingerless glove. His undershirt is a black, ripped up wife beater with many holes and it shows off just a bit of his waist. Over this is a black and grey flannel shirt, unbuttoned with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. His paints are black and appear to have seen better days with many rips and stitches in them, the bottoms tucked inside poorly cared for (and somewhat untied) military boots. His belt has various different chains hanging from it, one from a wallet, one from a pocket watch, some useless and just for show. All very modern, with a general 'goth' appearance. Extra: Black crows wings sprout from his back, looking a bit battered. His ears are black and blend easily with his hair, being just as feathery as his wings. His nails are painted black. In contrast to the white, Corbin has black lips; the corners of the lips tip up into a Glasgow Smile. Around his eyes are dark circles with mime-styled lines like so. References:

Unfortunately, after everyone beat the Black Santa Scout, Corbin got lost in the smoke. Same as everyone else, by the end of the raid he was transported back to Halloweentown but was decidedly unconscious. Should he ever be Enrolled, more on this predicament will be elaborated upon.

PERSONALITY;; I like that he has the eye for an eye mentality, as well as his inherent belief that if the situation gets worse it's their fault. xD I really enjoy the fact that someone isn't afraid to dish out what's given to them, and it'll be interesting to see how he interacts with people in RPs. Especially with the more cut-throat students at the Academy.
In concerns to his like for pretty things, and being a crow, I think it would add a nice element to his character and have more RP potential if you made it to where he did steal people's shinies. A compulsion to do so, whether then a will, would suit him just fine I'd think. It would also be interesting to watch how he would deal with this personally, as he has such strong convictions for an eye for an eye, and how that would play out. You could always have him grow as a character into not stealing, but it could just be a nice basis for character development and interaction.
NATURAL ABILITY;; Something that might be beneficial to add to his personality section is how being able to judge whether a person is innocent or guilty affects his personality. How does he treat those guilty? Those innocent? Is he constantly barraged by feelings of innocent/guilty when he meets people or walks the halls? Things of that sort. I'd also like to throw out there that the ability to discern exactly what sins a person has committed, and maybe even just the sense itself, could sit weird with people. It may seem like a power that makes Corbin too strong. I don't have this worry, because you've been RPing for years and understand what you can and can't do, but you may want to implement a flaw to this ability or make it seem less powerful. Maybe he only can tell when someone is innocent/guilty when discussing something that brings the topic to the forefront? Just a general idea.
FEAR;; It's an interesting concept! I like it. Quick question though! How many shots could he fire off before he had to rest? Is there a lag period between each shot? How big is the blast radius?
Extra;; I like both your emblem and your tektek. 8D Monochrome, ftw!

Mm! Definitely things to think about o w o I'll ponder over the stealing thing, but I didn't want him to steal anything because it seemed like a contradiction to his personality in the eye for an eye mentality but I'll ponder it :Ua
As for the Natural Ability, I'll definitely give some heavy thought to that, that's an excellent point.
I'll flesh his FEAR out a bit there > w > Definitely not going to be many shots able to be fired, a rather small blast radius at first, and there will, indeed, be a lag period, like that of a tazer.

I must say I LOVE him. His personality is fantastic, and you don't see many like that around. I also like the reasons he is at the academy >w< i think when he gets further along it'll be very interesting to see how it all turns out.
Has he ever gotten in trouble with his collecting? i noticed you said its a compulsion, so is there ever an instance where he really can't control himself? like maybe when he is over stressed or anxious?

THE CROW + PENANCE STARE. scream heart
Revenge stories are my favorite kind of stories. I am VERY GLAD he is from the 80s.
My question is this: There are bound to be a lot of ill-intentioned, gruesome, and downright evil folks in school. So as a bastion of JUSTICE how will your dude deal with them? Is he only interested in personal wrongs, or in wrongs carried out against any innocent party?
Additionally: Any particular interest in contrapasso? twisted
I'm really interested in the vigilante side of the character, and I think leaping around off of tall buildings and giving criminals a PROPER frightfest makes for a great Halloween bogeyman. I also like the gun fear manifestation, majorly eager to see this guy kicking butt! PS, as he matures I think it would be interesting for him to start more sinister collections...
I think my main critique is that his basic personality (calm but super emotional) is kind of confusing. Maybe find a way to clarify this some?
Otherwise can't wait to see this guy in action!

8DDD CROW + PENANCE STARE INDEED
These are good things to think about o w o I can't answer outright but I will update when I have decided! xO
Also, contrapasso sounds AWESOME, I think that would make sense in cases where committing the same crime to the perpetrator would be counter-intuitive to Corbin's nature O u O
Omg the image xDD the sheer image <33
And mmm o 3 o -nods- I will try to find a way to clarify that. Basically, he ACTS calm on the surface (thus if he's really happy, he'd probably only have a small smile or if sad just a tiny pout), but his actions generally speak out his true emotions, if that makes sense? If he was pissed off, you probably couldn't tell just how mad he was from his expression but he'd probably punch a wall 8D

When you say between calm and emotionally driven, do you mean he's a bit bipolar? Actually reading further in indicates that he is bipolar with how his moods effect others around him. You do go on to almost make it sound like he has two distinctly separate personalities, rather just being manic and depressive. You also basically make it sound like he's a heavy-drawn empath, but being bipolar would make it difficult for him to sense the feelings of anything but himself. Sure the outside sources could play a heavy influence but more or less he'd be the one affecting them, not the other way around.
You say he follows the code of Hammurabi ( eye for eye, tooth for tooth, wrong for wrong etc) but does that apply to good as well? Or is he only driven to punish? Will he go out of his way to reward someone who had done kindness to him, or will he just let it go and stick only to vengeance? Also, does he react to the wrongs inflicted on others, or is it only about him?
I still don't think Wraiths are strictly creatures of vengeance, at least not in all the sources I've read, but it is possible for him to be only made of that. There is a race of beings already dedicated/created to be judges of sins (and therefore have such a natural ability like what you're giving to Corbin)

Rown When you say between calm and emotionally driven, do you mean he's a bit bipolar? Actually reading further in indicates that he is bipolar with how his moods effect others around him. You do go on to almost make it sound like he has two distinctly separate personalities, rather just being manic and depressive. You also basically make it sound like he's a heavy-drawn empath, but being bipolar would make it difficult for him to sense the feelings of anything but himself. Sure the outside sources could play a heavy influence but more or less he'd be the one affecting them, not the other way around. I actually don't mean this outright. I'll quote what I said to Toshi in regards to him being calm but emotional. "Basically, he ACTS calm on the surface (thus if he's really happy, he'd probably only have a small smile or if sad just a tiny pout), but his actions generally speak out his true emotions, if that makes sense? If he was pissed off, you probably couldn't tell just how mad he was from his expression but he'd probably punch a wall 8D" I don't mean that he'll be calm one second and then a raging b***h at the drop of a hat, and while he is empathetic to a point, I didn't think it was particularly important enough to say that he IS one, but it's pretty obvious that guilt, if nothing else, does affect his mood. I hope that makes sense? Quote: You say he follows the code of Hammurabi ( eye for eye, tooth for tooth, wrong for wrong etc) but does that apply to good as well? Or is he only driven to punish? Will he go out of his way to reward someone who had done kindness to him, or will he just let it go and stick only to vengeance? Also, does he react to the wrongs inflicted on others, or is it only about him? I should make this clearer, but in terms of his reactions following that code, it is strictly based on wrong doings. However, kindness will not go unnoticed and he will find SOME way to repay it, but it will not always equal that which is given. Say someone saved his a**, he'd say he owed them a favor. In regards to him wanting to punish, it is most definitely NOT just about him, so I see him as a defender of the downtrodden or bullied if he finds out about it. Quote: I still don't think Wraiths are strictly creatures of vengeance, at least not in all the sources I've read, but it is possible for him to be only made of that. There is a race of beings already dedicated/created to be judges of sins (and therefore have such a natural ability like what you're giving to Corbin) The sources I've looked at have been pretty strict on them being creatures of vengeance but the TYPE of vengeance varies; some are listed as creatures of pure and destructive rage while others just want to avenge themselves or a loved one of wrong doings. I was not aware of the race of judges already in existence, but I'm not sure how I would be able to change his Natural Ability to something similar while still being different enough that it doesn't step on that race's toes.

[ Critting time!!!*0*
Sizing up: I love how you have developed him but he has a very suspicious personality and it works well when all he can sense is the guilt people feel, but who can he trust, what have they done? Was it bad? Will they do it to me? These questions must drive him crazy! If he feels all around him are guilty of something (which we all are at one point! And some of us classify the smallest events as guilt ridden) does he even want to make friends with these people? Or on the other side, could he keep them due to his gift? We all have dark secrets to hide and often we want them hidden. If he starts snooping about many people will feel threatened by him, it could lead to some dangerous events where the ‘not to bothered’ students do something criminal and they know he can sense it. He could be a prime target for many bad eggs!!
Eye for eye: This mentality can lead to a lot of problems in the near future!! He will be labelled a trouble maker by the teachers, it only has to be more than one ‘unoffical fight’ with him involved with someone else involved before they start to think Corbin’s behind the whole thing! And what happens if someone makes a genuine mistake? What if they trip and stab him, or loose control of a curse, and make it so he is unable to control his ectoplasm? He would have to take ‘revenge for this, but they didn’t mean it! Would he care?
Collection: Love the connection with crows for this. Surly though he asking for trouble if he steals from people, of course someone may react badly to him stealing something, aka punching his lights out! (I know I would!) yet he deems his behaviour acceptable because it something he wants, but will punch said person back! He is very mean, even if he himself doesn’t realise this! And for someone who would like to protect the innocent, surly he would need to protect them from himself!
And also are the bullets he fires made out of his ectoplasm? Doe they disappear once they hit something, or fall like slim? Does he reabsorb them?? This is just general interest from me!!! <3
I am sorry this is rushed, i may add more later because I like him so much <3 ]
