Moving through the forest for some length of time, following the river and streams up to the far end of the forest, almost directly opposing the mountain in it's great height, is the lake. The waters here are crystal clear, enchanting even the local deer into stopping for a gander. It's temperatures vary from season to season, freezing completely during the winter time, as most lakes do. But, not every lake is as bountiful of fish, welcoming to the eyes, and as peaceful as this one. Ducks and geese next around the waters and can be seen enjoying a swim, catching a trout or carp skimming underway. Children may entertain themselves at the shallow edge, where frogs and their young can be seen darting about. Though, be wary of the reeds. Water snakes and the occasional snapping tortoise can be found hiding here, at the center of all the animals of the forest. It is indeed an ideal location for any hunter, human or otherwise. Some, however, are not here to fish, swim, or, on occasion, ice skate, but, rather, to visit the shrine, sitting atop the muddy bank comfortably and untouched. Here, we give worship to the Wood Fairy and all it's past followers.

Today was Saturday, which to Cid meant that today he visited the Lake's shrine. The young monk didn't have as much time as he would wish to visit the shrines considering that most days consisted of rebuilding Romane's home, but since having everyone work every day of the week wouldn't be very nice, he did have this Saturday. The monk approached the shrine, in his hand was a gold ring. He found it nearby the river, someone must have dropped it playing there and simply forgot about it. So the monk placed the ring on top of the shrine. He smiled under his face mask seeing it there. He should find the owner of the ring, but it appears to have been there for almost a week, so clearly the person forgot about it. He figured that it would be best that it to give it as a gift to a fairy than leave it there to be forgotten.

The monk walked a bits away from the lake and sat down facing the shrine. /At the end of the day. After a long day of meditation, Cid stood back up and decided to leave. It was already late night. The young monk simply walked away from the shrine to find a nice place to sleep the night. /Cid exits.

(From the forest...) Hmmm. Incantations of some sort. That was as good as guess as any, especially if they were alters to gods of some sort. Celeste's thoughtful look turned into a frown. Maybe this was getting back into the realm of her Aunt's hokiness. Maybe she shouldn't be galavanting around the island with a man she barely knew looking for strange little alters in the middle of the night... or something close to the middle of the night.

"Mmmm?" She mumbled automatically at his query. She pulled herself from the unhappy turn her thoughts had taken and looked around to see Robert heading off in a different direction. Course correcting she headed after him, realizing that yes, she did hear water now that she wasn't lost in thought. "Maybe we are wrong... maybe they are just part of an old game, or old tour set up around the island or something." She said, half wanting to give up on the whole trip now that he had brought up the idea that they might be more than old religious relics. Though, why the distiction between magic and religion mattered she really didn't know.

There it was. The water. We had somehow found ourself in front of a lake. I had heard that this island had a natural body of water in the middle of it, yet I had never seen if... before now, that is. It was quite beautiful, but that didn't mater to me at that moment. No, there was something more important. A Shrine. Another shrine. I project the light on it, showing to Celeste what we had stumbled upon once more. "Another shrine." I said out loud, pointing the obvious. This was getting really... weird. The hair behind my neck started to raise as I walked toward it. Was it fear? Was it excitement? I didn't know. I wasn't even sure if I wanted to know. My body was moving on it's own, like a robot, like it was possessed by something. I bend down to look at the shrine, that was in a much better shape than any of the previous one. I tried to find if there were any other inscription on it, and yes. Yes they were. Only one line was readable, however. "Cornelius Gaspar Conrad Von Der Bach.... That's certainly a name and not an incantation... strange, that sounds familiar. Does it reminds you of anything?" I asked her. That's why I usually had Catrina with Me. She was the one who remembered every little useless details of my useless life.

Seeing the lake Celeste walked past a somewhat distracted Robert toward the lake. A lake in the middle of an island. So that made the island kind of doughnut looking then right? Maybe a lopsided doughnut? Since Celeste actually had no earthly idea where on the island she and Robert were.

The smile on her face brought on by the idea that they were living on a doughnut faded at Robert's declaration of another shrine. He just kept finding them didn't he? It wasn't like Celeste was choosing their direction, in fact, Robert had found every single stupid shrine they had come upon. She felt the corners of her lips pull tight as her thoughts took on a different train. What if Robert was messing with her? What if he knew of her aversion and had dragged her on this stupid hunt just to tease her? He was a PI right? He could find out why she had left home and moved here. He could make her miserable if he knew that. But why?

Celeste narrowed her eyes at Robert's back, debating whether to yell at him or simply turn around and just leave. But her anger left as quickly as it had come because when he had read the name a funny feeling twisted in her gut. She felt her face go pale and for a few moments she forgot to breathe. Van Der Bach... Van Der Bach... Van Der Bach... She knew that name. She knew it, it was right there, lurking just out of her mind's reach. If she could just focus she could catch it in her peripheral. That name belonged to "Freja." She breathed the name as it came to her. "I can't believe it..." Her voice growing in strength and her eyes re-focused, narrowing on Robert accusingly, which of course looked all wrong on Celeste who was normally so happy and friendly. But, the whole magic this was a sore spot, and the idea that she it had followed her all the out into the atlantic was just too much. "She told you. She told you and for some horrible reason you're picking on me. Why?" Her voice was growing louder in her anger. "What did I ever do to you?" She shouted the question, seriously wondering what she had done to make someone go to all this trouble just to... what? Make her mad? Make her cry? Make her... leave? "Why would she tell you?" Her voice had dropped to a whisper, hurt replacing the anger.

I snapped my finger when Celest spoke that name. Of course! The girl who owned the Magic shop! That was her family name! Maybe her family had something to do with this whole thing? It was possible. From the little information I had been able to find on her when doing my initial investigation of the island, I found that her family had been living her for generations. Same with the town representative's family. Still, for some reason, most of the records on her had mysterious disappeared a hundred years ago. I hadn't found time to look further into it... yet. I regretted that poor decision immediately. However, I didn't regret it as much as whatever I had said to make Celest that angry toward me. I lift both of my hands, surrendering myself. There was noway I could compete with a fairy. If she wanted to kill me, I was doomed. I had been doomed from the very beginning. "Woah, woah! Calm down! I have no idea what you are talking about!" I told her, trying to calm her. I didn't want to die! No here, not now. So many things I had still to do, like going sky diving or swimming with the dolphins. Yes, I always wanted to swim with the dolphins, can you judge a man by his secret desire? No, you can not. "Nobody told me anythign! That name was written there, you can check it yourself! There's others too, but it's the only one legible."

The hurt in her eyes quickly gave way to suspicion at Robert's reaction. He had thrown his hands up and and pleaded ignorance, seemingly genuine ignorance at the fact that his talk of incantations and Freja were upsetting her.

She did nothing but look at him for a few minutes, the suspicion never leaving her eyes, her lips pressed together as she decided weather or not she believed him. Finally, she blew out a breath, and shook her head. It wasn't in her to stay mad, especially when he had been so believably unaware of what had upset her. "I'm sorry. You brought up a sore subject..." She moved farther away from the shrine instead of toward it. "I'm not going near that thing. I will just have to take your word for it." She said softly. She wasn't having fun anymore. "Maybe Freja is where your clues are leading you? Either way... I would like to go home now. These shrines are giving me the heebie jeebies." She wrapped her arms around herself and gave a little shiver as if to prove it. "Do you mind.... pointing me back toward the inn? I don't exactly know where we are..."

It would appear that my life was saved for now. I didn't really understood what had happen, nor why I was allowed to live, but I wasn't one to complain when something like that happen. Being alive was such a better experience than dying. I tapped the flashlight agaist my right cheek as I thought. Did I knew where we were? No, i did not. It was Celest guiding us though the forest and everything. "I am afraid I have no idea. You were the guide after all.... She had been the one leading us here, wouldn't she be the one knowing the way back? I looked around us, trying to find something that would guide us out of this forest, when I saw it. Of course, even if it didn't lead us to the Inn, it was still leading us out of the forest. it was better than nothing, so I risked an answer. "We can always follow the river stream. It's out to bring us somewhere with people around."

Ayil, on another one of her blind independence-seeking-adventures, found the lake. She dipped her toes in, holding her shoes in one hand. Her other hand had her skirt bunched up in it, not that it was in danger of getting wet, it was just a precaution when you couldn't see the water. Her empire waisted dress was, as usual, in cream, a nice light cotton. Her thigh length red hair fell in waves to her mid-thigh, scarlet lengths drifting down. She stepped a bit further into the water, carefully.

Now, obviously, something had been wrong. He had came out of the ferry, walked toward his new apartment, which was suppose to be close to the beach, and yet, he had found himself walking through woods and arriving at a lake. He couldn't put his finger on exactly what had went wrong. Maybe the five thieves that had attacked him and he had to fight off using only his cane as a weapon? Or maybe the giant bird and had taken him for his next meal. Both were really possible. Then again, maybe he just shouldn't have trusted the ferryman for directions. He could have saved five gold pieces by trusting his instincts rather than the old boat man! From what he knew, those people were just good at surviving ferry incidents after all....

Hearing the sound of another human being close, he raised his voice, hoping the whoever was there would answer to him and be more useful that the ferry man. "Excuse? Can you help me? I seem to be lost. I was suppose to head toward the residential area of the island and yet... I seem to have found myself in a forest... or a really big garden."

Ayil jumped at the sudden voice in the serene setting- well... it felt serene. As she had jumped she splashed into the lake, her hair spinning around her on the surface along with her dress. "I'm sorry." Ayil said, feeling around for the shore and crawling up it. "Uhhhmmmm" Ayil said, pulling her flats on and finding her way to standing. She wrung out her dress, showing her panties to all who could see, and then wrung her hair out. "I think.. I think if we stick to the dirt path I can find our way out of the forest. Are you... blind? Too?" Ayil said, she had no cane because Ayil didn't do canes, and eventually her hand skimmed across his arm, but only for a second saying she tripped and fell. Her damn hair was collecting dirt, as with her dress. She could tell she would need a shower when she got home.

Had she... had she really felt in the water? Why, that was something unexpected. Then again, who jumped forward like that when they were startled? Maybe someone with a mental deficiency.... he should take a note of that. It could always be useful for later. Still, the man didn't move to help her getting out of the water or anything. He was blind too! How could he possible save someone from downing. Oh well, at least he didn't knew her so it wasn't a big lost... Yet, the woman had seem to have found her way back to the land. He left out a sigh of relief. It's not because he didn't care about her yet, that he wanted her to die. It would have just been a unfortunate event. "Ah! Yes, I am. You are too? What... strange coincidence, for two blind people like us to meet in the middle of a forest... In fact, I might even say, it's ******** weird." He frowned at that thought. What were the odds anyway? He would need to look into that later. Not like it had any importance right now. "But yes... I am blind. Glaucoma, you see... uhm... Do you mind helping me out of the forest, then? Blind person to another one? What IS a blind person like you doing here, anyway? Are you really blind or just trying to fool me into trusting you?"

Ayil found her way up again, "Yes, I was born blind... I was... On an independence adventure." Ayil said, awkwardly. It was hard trying to find a way to explain that her twin sister basically put her on this tiny island in hopes that Ayil would stop depending on others. Or maybe, it wans't so hard as it was extremely weird. Ayil slipped one of her shoes off and felt the ground, "So you... you've seen before?" Ayil said, her voice had gone from awkward to awe-stricken. "I don't suppose... you'd tell me about things?" Ayil said, feeling around for the dirt path with her naked foot. "Like the sun? and the grass? what about the sky?" Ayil asked eagerly, finally finding the path and reaching out for the other man's arm, "I'm Ayil, by the way..." She said.

Ah, born with blindness. The unluckiest kind of Blindness...or was it the best? Not knowing something was better than knowing it and then loosing it, wasn't it? Uhmm... He felt philosophical right now. That never was a good sign. He should stop thinking about that. "Oh yes, I see... from time to time. It's... periodic. I can be two years without seeing anything, then it my visions comes back for day, or I can see for a month, then not see for a day. It's really random. However, I do spend more time in the dark than in the light." He moved a bit closer to where he voice was coming from, trying to reach for her. It was good to be guided, but what use would it be if he didn't knew where she was going? In the end, his fingers brushed against her owns. He wrapped them together, feeling the woman's skin. It was... quite pleasant to the touch. "The sun? It's.... a big round ball that you can't look at. So bright that it hurts you. A warm colour that's too warm. The sky... it's like a large field, but colder. Yet, it's a good cold. Like water in the summer. Refreshing. The grass, on the other hand... are like dancing hair, moving to the beat of the wind." Had he say he was feeling philosophical? Throw a bit of a poet in that too."

Ayil tilted her head as she listened, "That must be tragic, my sister sees, but I was born without sight. She is in the city... She moved me here so I could.. try and be independent." Ayil explained, her long fingers ring-less, with extremely long nails, since she didn't know how to cut them, and refused to put them in her mouth to bite them. She smiled as he explained everything, maybe he might be the one to ask all her odd questions, concerning things like physical beauty, or... yea, that was pretty much the main thing Ayil had issues understanding. She walked slowly, not too fast for anyone, and making sure she kept to the dirt path. "...What makes a person beautiful? I've never understood the concept of physical beauty." Ayil said, though many had complemented her own looks, she had never taken any of them to heart... except with her hair, Ayil adored her hair, and would never cut it. Ever. Which was why it fell to her mid-thighs, she had never cut it to begin with, except to get rid of damage every month.
