Desperate for an excuse to leave the house, Clarissa had told her mother she was taking Lucy for a walk. Her mother had choked on her tea, "C-cats have no need of walks!" She sputtered and protested, but it was already too late.. By the time she had managed to recover her wits about her, her daughter was already gone.

Cradling the purring kitten in her arms, she followed the route that led to a park nearby.

And there she sat in the dark, distracting herself by watching her cat Lucy bat at flowers in the grass with a little smile. At least, someone seemed to be enjoying herself in light of this new environment.. While Clarissa on the other took only misery in her new situation.

Rocking gently on the swing set, she glanced down bleakly at the ground.

She had family, family, and a wonderful home! And over here, it wasn't that the people here weren't nice, both Fiona and Anthony had been! To her surprise, she had even found Kaatje again! "So why? Why can't I be happy?" She said in a broken whisper, as tears began to fall.

She felt so.. empty, terribly empty on the inside.

Clarissa hadn't been the only one who was feeling empty.

Damon had felt strangely hollow on the inside when he had blinked drowsily and woken up from his slumber, that vivid dream that seemed so real, and he kept recounting the events in his mind to make sure he didn't forget. Even though he had discovered that many others had apparently succumbed to a coma; his sister too, and had hugged Delphine pretty fiercely when he found her despite her protests and gruffly told her not to wander away again. He was treated with a retort that she had been looking for him, on the other hand, and he wondered if it was a dream or... something more...

He still could remember the strange townspeople, the tree baby, Sailor Thuban (was there really a Sailor Thuban?), the cross which had said Montrose & Sons, the medallion with the dragon... it seemed too crazy and elaborate to be dreamed up by his own subconscious. And then the news of Killingworth's death, who had been in the coma too... It left him empty, curious and wondering.

He started wandering too, at night. Not just jogging, but wandering, with his hands shoved into the pockets of his dark jacket. He passed the playground and would have continued if not for the presence of the purple-haired girl. "You know," he remarked quietly, while leaning against the bars of the swing set, "it's not safe for you to be out so late."

At the sound of his voice, she wiped her tears away in haste.

She kept her back to him. Her voice was strained with the effort of sounding normal. "I know sir. I'll be heading home soon myself." She didn't once glance over at him, embarrassed but moreso ashamed to be caught in this position. Crying, to say the least, was an disgraceful act she had learned long ago.

Which may have been the reason why she escaped from her house, to this refuge of a park.

Using her sleeves to dry her tears, she then gave the boy a bright smile. Though she couldn't hide her pain; her eyes red and puffy, stained with tears. She could only hope that in the dark, he wouldn't notice. "Really, don't worry about me. I'll be fine!" She said plastering a cheerful smile on her face though she felt her mask waver. She would have gone on to say more, but she was afraid that her voice would betray itself.. and she would erupt into a violent sob.

Therefore, she would stay silent.

Damon kept wondering if he was still in a dream.

He glanced towards the shadowed trees in the park, as if there would be a white piece of fabric fluttering away at the branches, as if any moment now, he would hear the wail of a baby... It was paranoid of him, he knew. It only made him feel as if it wasn't safe here. It wasn't safe for him, it wasn't safe for her either. He couldn't just leave her alone, just like how he couldn't just leave the baby there, even though he had been sorely tempted to.

"Were you in the coma?" He offered softly, wondering if he had found a kindred spirit. Of course, Delphine had been too, but she had seemed to be in an entirely different dream. He wondered if all their dreams had been this strangely coherent.

Falling silent, she realized that he was there to stay. There was a gentle comfort in his silence, a soothing influence that soon calmed her down.

His reserve left Clarissa to wonder his intentions. Than finally, he spoke. "Coma..?" She echoed, finally turning to face the boy in her distraction. She was startled to notice that it was a young man, but she soon regained her composure.

Her voice soft, "I'm sorry. I haven't the faintest idea of what you're talking about." Her lashes lowered to the ground, unnerved by the look in his eyes.

There was a strange and haunted look in his gray eyes, as if he was saw something in the distance, that no one else could see. That I can't see. She corrected herself. The city often struck her as strange, it's people.. and it's secrets. Secret that no one was willing to reveal. She had dismissed it as paranoia, but she had seen that look once before.

The curve of her lips softened in a frown, as she glanced over at him. "This coma.. that you speak of. Is this what haunts you?"

He looked at her, puzzled; who didn't know about the recent events in Destiny City that had everyone in such a distress, which was what he heard from his parents? "You know," he clarified, "the sleeping disease thing that caused the city to be put under quarantine?" No one could explain that still, even though Mrs Amary had demanded the doctors to give her a valid explanation as to why both her children had suddenly collapsed when they were both perfectly healthy.

"It's just... strange." Damon said, crossing his arms. "Then again, things are strange in Destiny City." Yes, it haunted him, although he didn't admit to it. It was just one of those things that was so bizarre that he couldn't forget; he almost didn't want to go back to sleep because he feared slipping back into there and losing his sister all over again. But he had a dreamless sleep when he finally konked out and some vague ones after that were not as coherent as that vivid nightmare.

No, she hadn't known. She supposed she could have told him that she had only recently moved here.. but it seemed to be a mere excuse for her ignorance, for which she was loathe to admit. Instead, she let her gaze trail over the ground as she kept silent- listening vaguely to the boy speak.

"--things are strange in Destiny City.."

Her voice held a touch of bitterness as she spoke. "It seems as if I'm not the only one who thinks so." Her volatile thoughts voiced outloud-- what she never would have said to a complete stranger if she wasn't feeling quite vulnerable and resentful. "It's ridiculous, that this city is unable to handle it's own matters.."

Her composure broke. The words began to spill out of her, as if she couldn't hold her emotions any longer. ".. It wasn't necessary for my father to have been called here. We needn't have moved, then I wouldn't have had to leave my city, my school, my friends, nor Claude.." She wiped the sleeve of her jacket against her eyes, as the tears began to flow once again.

She was being incredibly selfish, and to her shame, she knew it.

Because he was an citizen of Destiny City-- almost instantly, she felt herself apologizing for her rude behavior. "I-I'm sorry."

"It's like we're living in a superhero comic book." He told her. And why not? It was easy to draw the parallels; they had experienced such crazy, mindblowing things. Magical Senshi and Negaverse agents fighting each other to protect the city? Crazy things at an epic level, like the coma, falling across the city and affecting so many? He wasn't even sure what was real and what wasn't, sometimes. She was right, it was entirely ridiculous. He understood nothing, and wasn't sure if he wanted to understand.

"...I'm sorry." Damon offered, a hand on her shoulder. "It must suck to have to move to Hellmouth, where crazy s**t happens." Yes, it was a Buffy reference, and if anyone asked him about that, he would blame it on having watched some episodes while Delphine had declared herself lord of the remote control.

Honestly, he felt no malice towards her. He had no idea why anyone would even move to Destiny City, even though he had grown up in it and did like the place. It was just... everything that was happening in this familiar city he called home that made it seem so unreal sometimes.
