Missiles exploded as sirens when off. Light's blinked in and out and music played a dangerous, energetic tune. Cal sat crossed legged on the floor as the TV screen displayed her epic battle for life or death. Skye and Blossom sat on her bed, staring intently at the screen, eyes wide with anticipation. This was it, the final level of the game! The moment she had been waiting for what seemed like ages, when in actuality, it was a few days. Everyone tensed as she grew close to victory when-
GAME OVER
Oh, how those words stung. She sighed and Skye laughed. Blossom hit smacked him with an outstretched vine and used the other to console Cal. She just smiled. "I was supposed to be leaving soon anyway...."
She slung her backpack over her shoulder, picking up the pokeballs and calling back both her pokemon. Skye was more reluctant than Blossom, but in the end he gave in. She wouldn't want him reeking havoc in the store. Speaking of store... Maybe Mau wanted to go? Or more like a ploy to get closer to him. She smirked, heading out the door towards Mau's room.
She really didn't know what brought on this sudden surge of courage, but she didn't care. She went up to his door and calmly knocked. "Mau? You there?" She paused and listened intently. Is he even there? As the seconds ticked by, her courage was slowly fading, leaving her anxious standing outside his door.

Mau was getting used to this one handed thing. There were still pins in his arm, hopefully they would be removed soon. He had just pulled on a red cotton shirt and was somehow buttoning it when there was a knock at the door. He did his best to make himself presentable before opening it.
"Oh, good morning Cal." He said softly. He wasn't expecting company, but at the same time it was nice. Mostly he'd been seeing a lot of doctors and was so bored being told to take it easy, and to take the pain killers. Yeah. The bottle was sitting, un opened, beside his bed. He couldn't risk becoming woozie around his experiments. If he crushed one of his plants... ok that wasn't important right now. "What can I do for you?" Aki and Ire were both curled up on Mau's bed. Aki was sleeping, snoring a bubble every now and then, but Ire had picked her head up and looked at the door.
Mau walked away from the door, leaving it open for Cal if she wanted to come in as he set to the task of brushing his hair.

It wasn't long before the door was opened, but she still picked at her shirt nervously. The door clicked open with a slight squeak, surprising her. "G-good morning!" Cal almost blurted out, blushing faintly. Mau turned and left her standing at the door. She peeked in, smiling at Aki's snoring and the Jolteon watching her.
She hesitantly entered the room, looked over Mau as he left to brush his hair. Her eyes wondered to his casted arm and she cringed slightly. "Are you alright?" She stepped a little closer to examine it. "I remember how it looked during the raid." She shuddered, "It didn't look good then, I'm hoping it's better now."

He blinked and looked at her then down at his arm and laughed. "It's fine. The pin's will be taken out and I'll be better then ever in no time at all. Just wait and see." He set his brush down and looked at her with a smile. "Is there something you needed, Cal?" Even though he had company, he still needed to get ready for the day. Looking at the bed, he gently woke up Aki and shoo'd the two pokemon off. Ire took to hiding at the foot of the bed, and Aki grumbled a little and spread himself out over the bed, refusing to let Mau make it. His tail thumped lazily on the bed and knocked the plush tropius off the bed, startling Ire who ran and hid in the jungle of berry plants.
"Aki, move." The vaporeon rolled onto his back. "Akiiii." With a dissatisfied gurgle, Aki rolled off and plopped on the floor before slowly getting up and wandering over to Cal while Mau made his bed.

Aki sure was a handful, but cute nonetheless. Her eyes followed the quick footed Jolteon run to hid in Mau's jungle of plants. Good thing Skye was in his pokeball; another berry ravaging incident wasn't what she wanted. She patted Aki lightly on his head, keeping her eyes on Mau.
Cal casually picked up the fallen plush, carefully caressing it and taking in Mau's warm sent. Her face heated up even more. If she could melt... She held onto it while he made the bed. "I came to see how you were doing." She smiled, holding the Tropius plush close, "I haven't seen you in a while."
She held the plush up, enjoying the fact that he had kept it with him. "Have you been out?" It didn't look like he could get much done with that arm of his. He said there were pins in it? How painful... She twiddled her fingers nervously, "Any plans for today?"

Mau looked up as he smoothed a wrinkle out of the sheets. "I've been doing pretty well actually. Maybe a little slower because I keep trying to use my left hand and forget I can't." He shrugged.
"I'm sorry I haven't been around. Between those silly doctors, and the lab- it's just been crazy. I trust you've been keeping busy too." He reached a hand out to her. "May I have that back?" he asked kindly. "Plans? Uh... I was thinking of seeing if I was needed in the labs. But... otherwise, I have no plans. Why do you ask?"

"You know," She tilted her head down and smiled, "I would've been glad to help out." She rocked back on her heels looking back up to Mau, "I hope none of this has stressed you out..." She gave him a wide grin and handed the plush back, sad to part with it, but glad it was given back to him.
"Well, haven't you been cooped up here?" she waved her hand around the room. I know I sure have. "Would you like to go out with me?" She pause, blushing and breaking eye contact. "Uh, I mean, get some fresh air. I'll be heading out to Camphoreon soon." She bent down to pet Aki to play off the blush on her face.

He set the plush on his bed, like it was guarding the space. "Well... I've gotten out a little. Wakked out in the desert a bit. Also had a nice chat and a battle- sort of- with one of the grunts from the robotics department." He waved his hand at her. "You don't need to help me out. I'm sure you have other responsibilities." He wasn't going to be a burden to anyone if he could help it.
"An outing? Well, sure. Let me guess, you needed someone to drive you, right?" He had no idea if she could drive or not. Didn't matter really.
With the attention again, Aki was just pleased as punch and rolled onto his back for bellyrubs. He was letting out happy sounds, which perked Ire's interest, and she was peeking out around the berry plants to watch.

"I'm glad you've been getting some time out." She rubbed Aki gently. "And it's no problem if you need so help. I'd be glad to help out with anything, just remember that."
Cal focused on petting Aki to keep a pout from forming on her lips. "I can drive just fine, thank you." She turned her eyes back up to him, "I just thought you might want to head out. Somewhere farther from HQ." She placed both hands firmly on the Vaporeon, indulging in his plea for more bellyrubs and giggling at the happy sounds he made.
She noticed the the Jolteon peeking from the jungle of berry plants. "Hey there," she beckoned it closer. "Would you like a bellyrub too?"

Mau shook his head as he watched Cal play with Aki and chuckled. "Well, if you can drive..." He shrugged. Aki seemed to know what Mau was doing, and despite his happy gurgling at being pet gave his human a hard stare. Which only made Mau laugh. "Sure sure. It'd be nice to get into town again." He looked down at Ire, who was still pretending to be invisible to Cal.
"She's timid... Shy really." He walked over to where he kept his mini fridge and rummaged around a moment until he found what he needed. He came back over to Cal and handed her a Watmel berry. "If you want her to even attempt to get to know you, this is her favorite berry."

Cal sighed but smiled, "Don't worry, I've never been in an accident." Close, but never wreaked a car or anything. "I'm ready when you are." She rubbed Aki absentmindedly now, but looked questionably at his stare.
She turned her attention back to Aki and the Jolteon. "What's her name?" She took the berry in hand and offered it to her. "Come on sweetie, I don't bite." Maybe seeing her play with Aki would help coax her out of hiding.

"Her name is Ire." Mau said softly, deciding not to tease her about driving. Mau knelt down a near Aki and Cal. Ire was still watching Cal questioningly. She had something she wanted. And Ire wanted the berry very much. She lifted one paw and took a half step and looked at Cal, then back at the berry. Another half step, and a pause.
"Jooo..." She crouched down, still unsure of what to do. She glanced uncertainly at Mau and Aki. Aki was cooing and snuggling into Cal, trying to encourage the timid jolteon to join them.
"Ire, it's alright." Mau assured her. Still on her belly, she crawled to Cal, just out of hands reach. Her nose twitching wildly at the berry.

"Ire.. That's a pretty name." She smiled at her, "Come here Ire," she called out in her sweetest voice, "won't you join us?" She gave Aki a few more rubs so that maybe see him enjoy himself would get Ire to trust her. Truthfully, Cal wanted to go up and hug the little Jolteon scooting towards her on her belly, that was just adorable!
The wait was agonizing! Ire was so close, but she couldn't make a move toward her or she might run away. She leaned forward a little more, offering the berry closer to her nose.

Ire bumped her nose to the berry and leaped back several steps, then, like a cat, walked back over, eying Cal and the desired fruit. She lost her nerve, and just laid down with a pathetic "Jooo!" and seemed to cry, now totally overwhelmed.
Mau moved closer to Ire and gently pet the frightened thing as she tried to hide her nose under her paws. "You did good, Ire." He looked at Cal. "We should probably go before we stress her out too much. Maybe later she'll warm up to you." He pulled out a pokeball, and Ire was all too happy to return to the safety of the sphere. "So, you said Camphoreon, right?"

Cal sighed, defeated by the timid Jolteon. That was a bit of a let down, but hopefully Ire would warm up to her soon. She stood up giving the backpack on her shoulder a shake; it gave an odd chime back. "Yea, Camphoreon. Let's go get the car."

She huffed and moped a little all the way to the car. "And I assume you'll let me drive?" She looked up at him questionably with the keys in hand, "I wouldn't want you only driving with one hand anyway."
