"Left!" Mau barked out. Aki very quickly shifted to the left, avoiding running into a cactus. The pokemon's blue paws sliding only slightly on the loose sand atop the stone-hard baked clay earth. They were working both on agility and endurance. It was hot out, and even though he was a water pokemon, the heat and dryness of the desert would wear down the vaporeon. "Up!" Aki paused for only a half second as his legs bundled under him and he leaped over the next cactus. He kept running till he passed a cactus. Something caught his eye as he ran past, and so he slid to a stop, turning around. His blue eyes focused on the figure sitting there.

"Por?"

It was warm - no, it was hot. It was very, very hot. But Aila was tired of spending her time indoors, and so she had settled in the shade of a certain cactus, her sleeves rolled up and her boots removed, to read. It was a more interesting book compared to her other investigations as of late, detailing the different geological formations one could find in a desert. She heard someone's voice in the distance, but she paid it no mind. The other Rockets, she found, were wont to training in the desert at all hours of the day. However, the sudden shape blurring past her, blue in color, served as enough to draw her eyes from the page. She lifted her gaze just as the intruder's found her.

She recognized those eyes. Oh, did she recognize them. Her expression shifted to one of utter distaste, and she had to restrain herself from striking with her book. No need to dirty perfectly innocent literature on such a putrid and filthy creature, after all.

"Hello," she said, her tone venomous, "you interfering whelp."

"Por?" Aki tilted his head at the girl's tone. It wasn't as though he had done anything wrong, right? Well, nothing anyone should have found out about yet. He just stood there, looking curiously at her, ignoring Mau until the tall male came stalking up behind the cactus.

"Slacking off, are we?" He addressed Aki before glancing down at the young rocket that had gotten the vaporeon's attention. Huh... another child in the organization. What was with all these children? Well, whatever.

Having been slightly scolded, Aki's fins seemed to droop. "Poreon." He sighed before stalking over to stand beside Mau, opposite of the girl. Mau's eyes narrowed slightly at the child. He was sure he'd seen her before. He vaguely wondered why she was reading a book like that. "Intending on using desert terrain for a tactical advantage? Or just leisure reading?"

Her fingers twitched towards the pokeballs at her waist as she toyed with the idea of attacking preemptively. Those blue eyes, the same color as that Blue Orb that slipped out of her reach because of an Ice Beam to the ankles. She redirected her attention at the sound of a man's voice. Aila couldn't recognize the male for his features, but the fact that he was with this Vaporeon affirmed his identity. Mister "Attack First, Talk Never," was it? She stood, snapping her book shut abruptly.

"I wonder," she replied vaguely with a sideways glare in the direction of the Vaporeon.

Mau's brow raised in question to her unfinished statement. her actions spoke volumes about her. She held herself in high regards. She thought herself above others. Spoiled brat. Ah well. Mau had better things to do then waste his time with a child. "Aki." The vaporeon snapped to attention. "Back to work." He was about to step away before looking back to Aila. "Unless of course you wish for some training as well."

An opportunity to pay back that Vaporeon for its past actions? Yes. A thousand times yes. She adjusted her sleeves slightly to tidy her appearance.

"Such a generous offer," she said, her smile betraying no ill will. "I dare not decline." Her hand hesitated between the two pokeballs clipped to her belt before she seized one, her decision made. "This is work time," she muttered to the container before pressing the release, an Ivysaur promptly emerging. Fleur, in light of the warning, arrived fully equipped with her game face.

Mau nodded, walking back a few steps. He thought about calling Aki back, but seeing the ivysaur, he put together why he knew her face. "Let's see how much you've improved since then, shall we?" There was no ill intent in his tone. It was as if a teacher was testing a student. Aki positioned himself for battle. There was nothing at stake this time, he had no qualms with letting her make the first move.

So he finally recognized her. All the better, she mused. She would feel no guilt in treating this as more than a practice match.

"Fleur, I seek your best," she informed, receiving a confident "saur" in reply. "Razor Leaf."

A whirlwind of blade-like leaves exploded from the Ivysaur, advancing on the Vaporeon with deadly speed.

"Aki." Mau didn't need to give the command. The vaporeon had been with Mau long enough what he was expected to do. Using his tail as a shovel, Aki scooped up sand and rocks from the ground and flung it in front of him as a shield against the leaves, slowing, if not stopping most of them before charging at the Ivysaur through the rest of the leaves. "Surf."

The vaporeon didn't need to be told twice as he planted his feet suddenly and let loose a torrent of water with tidal wave force at Ivysaur.

"Dodge away." As the charge of a thief, escape and evasion were the Ivysaur's specialty, even if her attacking force was largely sub par. Fleur had been educated thoroughly in a number of different dodging tactics, and she rifled through her memory to select the one most applicable to her circumstances. The grass pokemon, using a pair of vines, quickly thrust herself into the air, hurdling over the Surf and landing at the Vaporeon's side in a cloud of agitated sand.

"Sleep Powder." Aila's favorite move. Fleur gave a short shout as the spores burst from her flower.

The water from the surf attack soaked into the ground, making the dry earth marshy and constricting. Even though he was hit with the sleep powder, the ground was now quite hard to move in- almost like a marsh as the clay tried to soak up the remaining water.

There was no need for Fleur to struggle with the wet earth, and so Aila recalled her, reaching now for her second pokeball. The light it emitted took the form of a creature with doll-like features atop a skirt-like body. The Misdreavus turned on Aki, delighting in the idea of battle.

"Revenant, demonstrate your Psybeam," the trainer commanded. Revenant, however, had other plans, and instead employed a Mean Look.

Aila scoffed at the ghost pokemon's disobedience, but the battle would continue regardless.

Mau smirked slightly as the misdreavus ignored the order. It was just a little thing. Aki snored out a couple bubbles but blinked awake. He shook himself casually and looked at misdreavus and yawned. One good sleep attack deserved another.

"Perish Song."

Revenant spun in a half-circle to eye her trainer. What an insolent thing. Was she simply calling out any move of which Misdreavus were known to be capable? What use was Perish Song, at any rate? Instead, she would repay the Yawn with her Spite.

This was getting boring. The poor little thing couldn't possibly know those moves. This girl was a failure as it's trainer. So what if Aki wouldn't be able to use Yawn much anymore? Spite would have been better used earlier, he figured. "Icebeam."

Vaporeon rolled in the mud once then fired an icebeam attack at the misdreavus.
