August 2nd, 2011; After longing for quite some time, Yue Lao is engaged to Qian Jianyu.
May 22nd, 2011; Over 8 months since I first obtained her, Yue Lao is now a FIGHTER.
September 1st, 2010; YUE LAO HAS BEEN AWARDED TO ME <3 YESSSS.
September 2nd, 2010; Journal being set up!

✿✿✿Five Main Traits━━━━━━━ "What's in it for me?".....Yue Lao's eyes are almost always half-slit, gleaming. She is bent on assessing the value of a situation and its outcome as they concern her, but has little interest in the needs of others. There are exceptions, however few the exceptions may be. Her talent with observation of others is best employed for this personality trait. If anyone asks her for help, or a favour, chances are she will first consider its ramifications on her life and herself. If she accepts, it would be prudent to be wary; although Yue Lao doesn't really keep tab on "debts", she probably won't accept any deal unless she knows it will benefit her in the future.Drunk.....This personality trait has two sides: physically, Yue always seems like she's drunk. Her eyes, the almost blush-appearance of her bright scales, her swagger, even her way of talking; they all seem to indicate inebriation. She loves to learn about brewing alcohol, and is training to be good enough that she can work for her other-mother. .....On the other hand, Yue Lao loves a different kind of state-altering practice. Physical contact of any degree makes her dizzy and bubbly. She thrives on it and craves it almost constantly. If she believes it will lead to physical affection, she will put her own needs second, but in a way, that's kind of like an investment to cash in on later......Her need for and love of physical contact manifests rather strangely in fights; she loves fighting in close contact and has a much stronger grip than she seems capable of. She lifts barrels for her other-mother's brewery purposes, and it gives her a decent amount of strength for grappling. When she's feeling impatient, bored or starved for contact, Yue will often try to pick a fight. Match-Maker, Match-Maker.....Her desire to assess a situation for personal value stops, strangely, at match-making. That is the only time when Yue sets aside her own benefit. Yue Lao loves teasing others gently into relationships, or, when the situation calls for it, being rather blunt about it. Unlike how she may put her own desires aside briefly in order to secure affection later, her match-making really does involve putting her own wants and needs second so that she can unite some happy couple. She's often very careful when choosing which two should be nudged together, and the unions are seldom unhappy. That's not to say they all work out perfectly, but Yue Lao spends far too much time observing the habits and behaviours of everyone to be anything less than uncannily good at uniting two Lunarians.Sugar, Baby......Yue believes that false sincerity is not the key in any relationship. She adds her own personal touch of “sugar” to every interaction: a brush on the arm, a kind word, remembering important facts about others; all of these details are Yue’s to command, in order to get closer to her personal goals. Sometimes her sugar is taken rather poorly, or unwelcome, but Yue learns from that and will sometimes change her methods to suit the Lunarian. She is capable of some self-restraint, although she can barely help herself as far as physical contact is concerned. If she has the opportunity to brush against someone else, she'll take it.Friendship Binds, Love Unwinds......Romantic relationships seem impossible to Yue, when it concerns her own heart. She picks a handful of friends and is fiercely, sincerely loyal to them—but only so long as her own interests aren’t harmed. However, if she were to find one friend who was closer to her than any of the others... they might just sneak into her heart and undo all her careful planning. ✿✿✿Vices━━━━━━━ Me First!.....Yue's desire to put her own needs before those of others can make her a little cold, emotionally. She is outwardly friendly and charismatic, and loves to associate with others, but her motives are always her own.More!.....Yue Lao's addiction to physical contact can make her prone to indulgences. It can also drive wedges between her and others, especially if they find her way of dealing with them disturbing or awkward. Her behaviour may make it difficult for others to associate with her, or even get close to her. In the end, that works out fine for her: she doesn't really want to be close to anyone. She would be less capable of assessing their personality, if she became too fond of them.✿✿✿Virtues━━━━━━━ Years Later........Yue Lao possesses incredible patience and is generally unruffled by the reactions of others. In fact, she will needle people in order to see their "true selves": the personality they try to hide from others by pretending they are well-mannered and agreeable. Her patience is also clearly visible in the brewing of alcoholic beverages, where she must wait years to see the results of her hard work.

 ✿✿✿Hobbies━━━━━━━ Observation.....As stated just about everywhere, Yue Lao loves to observe others. She keeps bullet point notes of the information she learns about someone every time she meets a new person or learns important information about someone she already knows. It makes for a sort of permanent guide to everyone she meets, and that journal is a closely-guarded secret.Brewing.....Because her othermother owns a brewery, Yue Lao has been learning about alcohol since she was young. It's more of a profession than an addiction, since she usually forces others to try her alcohols for her rather than getting drunk. She always seems drunk, though... Yue is constantly trying to invent new and elaborate drinks, but she's still building her groundwork, so the alcohols aren't yet stunning.Eaves-Dropping.....She picked up this particular hobby from Kiran; she'll climb up high and listen in on people's conversations on the street. It's pretty harmless, since she doesn't really use the information for anything, but she enjoys it as a kind of relaxation anyway.✿✿✿Habits━━━━━━━ Pursed Lips.....Yue tends to purse her lips when she's thinking or concentrating. Cryptic.....Yue Lao tends towards speaking in riddles, or using such strange patterns of speech that people find it difficult to follow what she's saying. Her level of cryptic speaking is directly dependent on the person she's conversing with, however. If she's motivated to be sincere with someone, she may be relatively clear. If she finds that someone is very unlike her, and possibly has a poor temper, she may be cryptic, knowing it is likely to irritate them more. She also loves to play games with riddles in her speaking, so that appears a lot and confuses the meaning of her words.

✿✿✿Blood Relatives━━━━━━━ Chishio.....Her blood mother, and only blood relative Yue has ever known. She has no siblings, no uncles, no aunts and has never met her other parent. When she was little, she was pretty sure she only, genetically, had a single parent. Then, when she was a little older, she thought Yowai Hone was her other mother; that was cleared up, but the nickname stuck. Chishio is a wonderful cook, and Yue's mothers rule the house in harmony. Chishio is gentle, but was not educated in writing or reading; Yowai had to teach her these things, as she taught Yue Lao.✿✿✿Other Family━━━━━━━ Yowai Hone.....Yue Lao calls her "othermother"; Yowai has been around since before Yue's earliest memories. At first, Yowai was just around the house a lot when Yue was younger. She was told that Yowai was just a very good friend of the family. After she had grown up more, Yue realized that Yowai and her mother were romantically involved, and although Yowai seemed to sleep in the spare room, Yue saw her sneaking out of Chishio's room one morning. The jig was up! Not that it changed anything; her mothers are very conservative and hide their romance with utmost care. Yue is cool with it, and loves both her mothers, though she understands that they don't want anyone to know, so she doesn't tell anyone about their relationship......Yowai Hone taught Yue Lao the fundamentals of brewing, though it wasn't a purposeful lesson so much as the efforts of a very curious child. She also taught Yue Lao how to read and write, especially so that she could understand which drinks in the brewery had which labels, rather than the child get hurt.Jianyu.....Who is listed here because he's the closest Yue Lao has ever been to anyone other than her mothers. He's her closest friend, and she cares for him more than she considers prudent. Turns out it wasn't a bad idea to list him under family, as he has now proposed to Yue Lao, and will officially be marrying the two families together.

  The main room of Yue Lao's home.
-----Instead of the glass windows, she would have the shoji sliding paper screen doors. The narrow hall to the right leads to two rooms, one which is Chishio's, the other which belongs to Yue Lao's "othermother", in practice. Yue knows that they usually share the same room, now that she's older, but when she was younger they kept up the careful charade of being just friends, sleeping in separate beds.
-----To the left of the main room, there is a ladder against the wall up into a platform built with the rafters. Yue's sort of den is on that platform, and she loves being in the comfortable, high up and small place. It feels like her safety zone. No one, including Chishio and her othermother, has ever climbed up into Yue's den. On the ground floor, to the right of the ladder, there is a small washroom with a tub dug into the ground, lined with tile. The bathroom is very nice, because all of Chishio's work and care has gone into keeping the bathroom and the kitchen, as far as renovations go.-----There is a garden in the back, and buried in the garden overgrowth is a sort of door in the ground, as if leading to a cellar; Yowai keeps her liquors in the cool darkness beneath the door. The garden is so chaotic because Yue Lao is largely in charge of tending it; there is one patch of garden which is better than the rest, and it's where Chishio grows all kinds of vegetables for their meals.
