As in most islands, or just bodies of land in general, a beach is necessary. The outer rim of Nirvani Island is a beautiful, peaceful beach, the sand is white and soft underfoot. In the sun, the area is thriving of pesky hermit crabs making their way across, the occasional ghost crab squirming out from under the sand to scare a relaxing visitor. At night, however, most locals would agree that it beats the sun tenfold. The sand sparkles like crystal under the moon and the ocean, though threatening in it's shimmering waves scaling high above the ocean, the water itself is a beauty one could only hope for. Simply breathtaking. If one were to travel out along it's shore, enjoying the occasional gull watching for their chance to snack upon the passing crab or waiting for a visiting family to leave their food unattended, basking in the warm rays of the sun (given that one chooses to visit during the warmer times of the year), they may find a cave off under an overhanging cliff. That is, however, a different place.

It was Spring. How the young woman loved to draw this scenery each year... or rather anytime she decided to visit the beach. Still it had been a while since the white haired woman did so... Now she sat in the sand, at an adequate distance from the water, sketch pad in hand. Her attention shifted ever so often with her daughter's babble at the sand castle-er mound, she continued to make. Ellie smiled at that, how happy that girl could be. She didn't have much work to do right now, and Blaire needed a break from babysitting, so the woman figured a trip to the beach would be nice. It seems the toddler agreed. Too much. The moment Ellie had started to space out a bit, Rune decided to wander off to the waves that stopped at the shore. It didn't take long for the young mother to grab the girl from behind with a laugh. "Where are you sneaking off to?" chuckled the mother as Rune simply squealed and giggled. Conniving little sneak...

Today had been a pretty long day. Waking up before even the birds, Yoakim had went directly to the mine. Lately, he had been late in his work and it was starting to show. He had to do some extra hours to be able to finish everything. Oh, it was not that he wasn’t working, au contraire, it was because he wasn’t working on the right things. Who cared about the stupid how that needed to be fixed and sharpened when he could be working on making a beautiful opal broche? A pearl necklace? A sapphire pendant? Those were beautiful work! Those were piece of arts! No some boring grunt work like normal smiting. However, it wasn’t like if he had any choices in the matter. With the whole island destroyed by the hurricane five years ago and then once again by that useless mayor, what was needed was regular smithing and anyway, no one had enough money to buy all the jewellery he was doing. The best course of action would have been to hire someone to do the grunt work, but who was a blacksmith in theses day and age? Even him hated that part of the job

It was around then that he heard a highpitch scream. It was one of danger or anything like that. Only It was more of a child playing around. But… where was the child? He looked around in confusion trying to figure where the voice was coming from. It wasn’t further on the road… nor was it behind him. The playground was completely empty. It left only the beach, but wasn’t it still a bit too cold for it? He walked toward it, still trying to find out who it was. It was then that he saw a silver sparking from the corner of his eyes. It didn’t took anything else to tell him just who exactly it was. The only people on the island with the color of hair were the Vatonage. Well, minus Cassandra, he swear, she had to be adopted or something, with her bright red hair, but she had moved away some years ago. Now it was only Ellie, her sister and her daughter. All three with silver hair.

Indeed, the white flash and the little scream were Rune’s. God, that child had grew up a lot in the last two years. He still remember the day Ellie gave birth. Everyone was running around all stressed out. He even had to slap Kade twice as much as usual to calm him down. He stayed over the small cliff that was over the beach, spying on the kid and her mother. It’s not that he wanted to be creepy or anything, but those two seemed to be enjoying themselves and he didn’t want to bother… That and the fact that he still had feelings for Ellie. He could, however, imposed himself like that to her. She had gone through a tough time and had promised himself to be her friend way before being her lover. That’s what she needed and he didn’t minded giving it to her. He was ready to sacrifice his own personal feelings for her in exange of her being happy. Anyway, he still had Kade. It wasn’t like if he was alone or something…. Even thought “alone” would have been more relaxing some times…

Eleanor brought the happy child back to that small spot in the sand they had set up. She took out a few toys to distract the child from the ocean in front of her. Actually that was kind of silly to do... but if it kept the kid on land, then perfect. Luckily for the young woman, it did. Picking up the pad that fell to the sand just a few moments before, Ellie ended up glancing at her previous sketches. Many of those were scenery, though others were people. And a few of those were a certain someone... She smiled slightly at those sketches before flipping back to her current work, and glanced at the view in front of her to continue. Of course, Ellie was kind of unaware that someone else was nearby.

Yoakim kept watching the two girls for a while. He didn’t took any notion of time and later, while recollecting this even, would think of himself as some creepy stalker. He had even sat down on the edge of the small cliff, simply looking at the two of them, smiling in a strange for of happiness, dreaming of what he knew he would never be able to have. Yet, he was contempt with what he had right now. A boyfriend who loved him and who he liked back and the most wonderful person on earth as one of his best friend who had the cutest kid in the universe. What was there not to be happy about? Sure, he wanted more, but that was just him being greedy. ”Let it go, Yoakim… it’d be two years already…” He allowed himself to think. Two years of wanting more. Two years of wanting something he knew would never happen… No, when they had meet, Ellie was the last person on earth ready for a relationship. They had become friends instead. Now, he held their friendship in so high regards that he wouldn’t want to risk it at any price. Sure, he might end up dating her, but then, who knew what could happen. They might just not be compatible and breakup. If that was to happen, he would have lost his boyfriend, his girlfriend and two of his best friends. No, that was too risky for his own selfish interest.

He shakes his head, pushing that thought away. He tried to think of that as less as possible, yet, sometime, it came back to him. But that was enough for today. He stood up and jumped down the small cliff. It wasn’t even high enough to hurt a child, less a full grown man. Walking toward the little girl, squatting down at he height. “Hey there, Little Jewel… You were able to force your mother out of the house, finally?” Little Jewel, that was his nickname for the small girl. Why? He had no clue. He just randomly started to call her that. It must have had something to do with him being so obsess at making jewellery , he didn’t know. What he did know, was that his original nickname for her, that is “Precious”, where met with a laugh from Kade and a stare from Ellie… Not his fault if he had never watched or read Lord of the Rings…

Hearing the slight footsteps in the sand, Ellie slowly stopped her movement with the pencil to glance at Yoakim just when he spoke. She was about to retort to that when Rune smiled widely at the man and moved to hug him, well... try. Her arms were small. "Aki!" exclaimed the little girl happily. Ellie couldn't help but laugh a bit at that. That was as close as Rune would get to the man's name. It made it sound pretty cute actually. Though she doubted a blacksmith would like that... "Hush you" replied the white haired woman, flicking Yoakim's forehead as she often saw him do to Kade. Ah her two best friends. It was... a little odd to say the least. But it made for some fun times. "It's not my fault she's irresistible" countered Ellie with a smile. She was kidding... slightly. The kid was adorable but it wasn't why they had gone out. "...And for your information I DO get out." Ah, Ellie tried to defend his accusation but... both of them knew the sad sad truth.

Yoakim couldn’t help but to smile at the little girl trying to hug him. Sure, he wasn’t her father, not had he any role as such, but he sure cared of her as much as a father would have. But for that little bundle of cute joy, who wouldn’t? He gently pet her head as she called him by his name… or at least tried to. He hated nicknames and most of his fights with Kade were over the boy trying to give him different nicknames. The only one he had settled for was ”Kim” and only because it was a shorten version of his name. For the girl, however, he didn’t mind it at all. In fact, he even founded it cute and in the back of his mind, knew that she would keep calling him that when she grew up and he would let her do it. But only her. Kade had tried calling him that before, but it had resulted in the blacksmith hand meeting the hairdresser’s back of head.
”Hey! It’s my move!” He complained to Ellie as he lift run over his head to put her on his shoulders. ”Don’t lie Ellie. I’ve been barely seeing you lately. You’ve been busy?” He genuinely asked, not that he wanted to see more of her… well, yes he did. A lot. But that’s not what he meant… he thought… or maybe.. No, no. Friends. Only friends.

While Rune let out a couple of excited squeals when placed on the man's shoulder, Ellie smiled softly at the two. It was so high, at least in the little girl's mind, but she seemed to loved it. Now Ellie had to admit... Yoakim was right there. "Just a little bit... I was pretty swamped with some work to hand in" admitted the young woman. "I should be free. For now at least." It would take what? A few weeks before their new curriculum continued, and even then after taking a look at it, Ellie could balance it much better than the last one. She needed some time away from the books. More importantly with some friends. In this case her best friends. Yoakim... The woman often wondered about him. But she couldn't really trust herself to know what she was feeling, so she opted to guess that it was just a friendship, a wonderful friendship. Now if it was-Ah there went Rune... pulling on the man's ears playfully. "Rune!" laughed the young mother watching that funny sight.

Yoakim didn’t mind that the little girl was playing with his ears. Oh, he probabably would in a year or two, but for now, she wasn’t strong enough to hurt him, and in all honesty, he just found that adorable. He started to spin on himself, just to play with the girl that was still on his shoulders. Young kids were so easily amused. He tried to remember if usually, he liked kids or not. The same answer always poped into his mind : No. he wasn’t the kind to enjoy being surrounded by kids. However, for a reason that escaped even himself, he loved to be around Rune. At first, he thought that it might have something to do with the fact that she was Ellie’s daughter, but he had came to realized that it was much more than that. ”You know… if… If you are busy… I could, you know… Take her home for a day.” He told the young mother as he stoped his spinning. He could feel his head to be slightly spinning, he could only imagine how dizze the girl must’ve been. ”What do you said Jewel? Want Aki to kidnap you for a day? I’m sure gran would feed you so much you won’t be able to do anything but stay on the couch watching cartoons” Sure, overfeeding a kid and plugging them in front of a tv wasn’t the best parenting solution, but he knew that the two of them would still have fun, weither they did it or not.

Rune was dizzy, but that didn't stop the girl from yelling "More! More!" right after the blacksmith stopped spinning. It really was nice for Ellie to see him with Rune. Though the girl seemed to melt everyone's heart, but it was a nice feeling. "Are you sure? She might wear you out" teased the young mother. She stood up from her spot to be as close to his height as she could, which was still a little off. Okay a lot. Maybe a little less than a foot difference. "YAY!!!" Well Rune was already cheering for that plan. "I think that sounds nice. If you can promise me Kade will not get anywhere near her hair" Ellie added with a small nervous chuckle. Though she was serious... Kade was beginning to worry her on that. Even more than a possible overfed Rune on cartoon overdose.

The Blacksmith too the young girl off his shoulder and brought her in front of his eyes, lift her up and down as she she was a dumbbell. ” Should we keep you away from the big bad hairdressers? Oh! I know! We should give him and haircut! What do you say Jewel? Wanna give Kade an hair cut?” Sure, Kade was his boyfriend but sometime, he could be a lot pushy. Especially when it came to hair. Like that one time when Yoakim had asked him to cut his hair when they were getting long. He still wasn’t sure how it had happen, but by the end of the day he was blonde with blue highlights in his hair. Kade had only accept to dye back the blacksmith hair to it’s original colour after he had refused sex for a week. He sat back the young girl on his shoulder, looking at the mother directly in her eyes. There had been a time where he was unable to do so. His eyes could never stop on her face for more than a second before moving away and making his face blush. Now, although he was passed that phase, it was his lips he couldn’t control anymore. It was a bit strange for him. He had never been able to smile automatically, always needing to do it on his own will, but when he was looking at Ellie, it was impossible for him not to smile. ”Don’t worry. I deal with Kade on a daily basis. I can handle Rune for a day.”

The little girl could only nod as she was lifted up and down. "Yeah!" The kid was always so happy. Though it was good Yoakim set her back on his shoulder, that had been a lot of up and down and twirling and-MORE! Later. "Oh really? I'm sure you can seduce Kade to do your bidding. But how are you going to handle a two year old?" Ellie was curious though. A few moments were fine, but he was either brave or... let's go with brave to ask to care for a toddler. Sure she was exaggerating, Rune normally behaved. Unless it involved cake... Then they would be in trouble. In any case... she just had to return that smile to Yoakim. So contagious.

What? She didn’t trust him? Why not? Sure, Yoakim wasn’t the most people-person around, but him and Rune were always getting along so well. Ellie knew better than that. She was probably only being a worried mother. With such a jewel as Rune, who wouldn’t be? ”Well… fine then… If you don’t trust me enough… I’m sorry Rune. Seems like Mommy don’t want us to spend some time together” Yaokim tried to guilt trip the mother. Not that he was serious or anything, teasing each other had always been part of their relationships, but still. He was a bit hurt that she seemed that reluctant to let him watch over the young girl. But really, just a tiny bit. He couldn’t have any negative feeling over Ellie. It was against his very nature. He sat down on the beach, fake-sulking while putting Rune on his lap, facing him, all while he did the biggest pout he could do. It wasn’t that hard, he just had to mimic Kade when the boy tried to guilt him.

Oh he did not! "Yoakim Leblanc that is not what I said!" countered the woman, dropping to his position to fake a stern look at him. However that didn't go as planned with Rune joining along Yoakim with a pout. 'You're kidding me...' All right new plan-Ah... the pouts! Both of them... Not the point! But just look- "Oh fine. I was only saying it for your welfare..." said Ellie, moving to sit on the sand, besides Yoakim. She felt a little bad though, if she had sounded like the didn't trust him. After all she was only kidding...

Yoakim grined like a fool at his vitory. He took Rune and put her right in front of his face, facing her mother. "Don't hit me! I got your child!" He said, using little Rune as a shield. Not that the girl minded, judging from the waves of giggles coming out from her. He stood up on his feet, after putting the girl down and smiled at the mother. "Anytime you want, you can just drop her at my place. If you want a day for yourself or an everning to study. She won't bother me. How could she? She's even more cute than her mother, if that's possible." Oh dear damn. Did he just said what he thought he said? His eyes started to go in every direction possible trying to find something to give as an excuse. His own heartbeat going faster as time passed. Not that much time had passed. Barely a second. "Uh.. I mean.. uh.. You know.. You are good looking... not that I'm eyeing you..or anything really... just that.. uh... she's... uh... a little sunshine?" Was the the best he could do? Oh well, that would have to do for now.
