Devi was in one of the last places she wanted to be. She was at Meadowview High School, during the summer. It wasn't summer school, no, it was orientation for freshman and other new incoming students. As an incoming senior, Devi was a volunteer student helping the new students figure their way around the grounds, and promote the school.
This type of thing wasn't at all her cup of tea, but her mother had forced her to sign up, thinking it would do Devi some good to get out of the house and stop sulking about her multiple weeks spent in a comatose state as she was put through emotional hell. Besides, she'll get community service hours for it, which will help when she applies to universities soon.
Devi sat on the floor of a nearly empty school hallway, between the water fountain and the lockers, biting her nails as she waited for some lost students to ask her a question. Or more honestly, waiting for this thing to be over with.

Just on the other side of the water fountain was another girl, this one blonde and tiny and much more uncertain. She had never been to a school that wasn't a private school, and it seemed like if her green eyes got any wider they'd fall out of her pale, pale face. It was worse because she was alone; she'd walked to school by herself, and then got separated from her group, and now... well, Meadowview was like a maze, much bigger than Crystal for all it lacked the dormitories.
Look for an orientation leader, she thought to herself, they're in the bright orange shirts...
A cursory search of the hallway revealed nothing, and then she took a few steps forward and spotted a girl in a bright orange shirt, chewing her nails.
"Hi," she said, wiggling her fingers in something like greeting; "Hi, My name is Elke... Where is group 'B'? They said they were going to the physics classroom but I do not know where that is."

"Physics classroom...," Devi thought for a moment. As if she needed another reason why she shouldn't be at school that day, she realized she knew very little about where some of the rooms were. "I think that's on the second floor? Or it might be on the first floor. And its either on in the left wing or the right wing. Or its in the center. But its definitely on campus."
She was such a helpful orientation leader. "I can help you find it, I know my way around the halls at least and can help you avoid getting lost traveling in circles."
Devi stood up and dusted herself off from having spent so much time on the floor. "My name is Devi Gellner, by the way." She was pretty sure there was some way the orientation leaders were supposed to introduce themselves, through some kind of cheer, but Devi wasn't the personality type to do something like that. "What's your name?"

The directions were not very helpful. She really didn't think she could find the classroom by herself just by 'it's on the second or first floor', even if she'd also been given a definitive wing on campus, even if she'd been told a general direction. So she just stood there, looking helpless as she could--it wasn't hard, Elke was exceptionally good at looking completely helpless.
"That would be so helpful," she said, bending a little at the waist in a sort of half-curtsey, half-nod. "Crystal was a lot smaller than this." The blonde reached out to brush a bit of dust off Devi's orange shirt, but stopped halfway through as if embarrassed and tucked her arms up against herself. "I'm Elke Arma. I'm transferring from Crystal. Have you, uh... been going here long?"
Awkward conversation was awkward; there really wasn't much else to say.

"Yeah, I've been here for all of high school," she said. "I hate it."
Devi was the worst orientation leader in the history of orientation leaders. But at least she was being honest. However, not wanting to get in any trouble, she thought it might be best to clarify. "Well, its not so much Meadowview as much as I just hate school. Its so boring. And the people here can suck my d**k."
Repeat: worst orientation leader ever.
"Sorry if that's gross or something," she half-apologized. She was a little embarrassed by her vulgarity, but the kids here could be very cruel sometimes, and she didn't like a big majority of them. She thought she needed more clarification. "I don't actually have a...you know. A p***s." She said the word in a soft whisper. Apparently p***s is more offensive than d**k.
That's as much clarification she felt was needed.
"Do you have any other questions?"
