"How's your breathing been today? Have you been coughing much? If you're feeling tired, then you should probably lie down." Mizu forced a smile as his mother fussed over him, constantly worrying like she always did. It was a fairly typical day at their house; the window to Mizu's bedroom was shut, since his parents didn't want to risk any outside sources making their son sick, and the boy was confined to his bed. Normally, he would have been quite lonely.
However, the appearance of Kouki had helped to make his days a little more enjoyable. It was true that Mizu was quite capable of reading and keeping himself amused, but there were days when he needed more than that. He needed someone to talk to, or just have someone nearby to keep him company. Unfortunately, his parents were still wary of the little shadow.
"I'm fine Mom, really." He tried to give her a reassuring look, but he could tell that she wasn't convinced; she was never convinced. "I'll make sure to take a nap in a bit, okay?" This seemed to satisfy her, and she nodded before getting up to leave the room.
"Alright. Just make sure that you call if you need anything, okay?" Yua eyed the little shadow that was sitting at the end of her son's bed before heading out into the kitchen, where her husband was doing the dishes. "I don't know, Naoki...I don't like having that little thing around him. We don't know anything about it." she said softly as she moved to help him with the chore. "What if it hurts him?"
"I know...but the doctor said that having Kouki around would be good for him. Perhaps he's right." Despite his word, Naoki clearly agreed with his wife; neither of them liked the idea of this strange creature being around their sick child all of the time. If it weren't for the doctor's advice, they probably wouldn't have let Kouki stay at all.
A knock came at the door as Yua began to respond to her husband. She frowned, wondering who would be coming to their door, and put down the plate that she'd been drying as she went to answer it. She was rather surprised to see a young, purple-haired girl standing at the door. "Can I...help you?" Was she holding a plate of cookies?

"Hi!" the purple-haired teen chirped, grinning at the lady who opened the door. "Here!" she said, offering the plate of cookies to the woman. "Someone here needed cookies, so I brought them!" she explained, noticing the older woman's expression. Just how Jaella knew someone needed cookies was beyond anyone's knowledge, including her own. But, she was sure someone needed them, so she'd brought them!
Jaella smiled, rocking back and forth on her heels. Someone was just a ball of sunshine, wasn't she? "My name's Jaella! What's yours?" the girl asked, tilting her head in curiosity.

Needless to say, Yua was quite surprised when the teenager thrust a plate of cookies towards her. For a moment, she only stared in shock; had they met this girl at some point before? She didn't recognize the teenager's face, but why else would she be here? And what did she mean about someone here needing cookies? She couldn't have possibly meant Mizu, could she? He rarely left the house, so she couldn't imagine when he would've met this girl.
"Well, it's...nice to meet you, Jaella..." she managed after a moment, still very confused by this encounter. "I'm...Yua Hamasaki..." So she didn't know them - otherwise, she wouldn't have asked for a name. "Would you...like to come in?" Perhaps she could get more answers that way. "And what did you mean by someone here needing cookies...?"

"It's nice to meet you too." the purply-haired ball of radiating happiness and joy replied, giggling. She had no idea how badly she was weirding the nice lady out. At the invitation inside, the girl nodded her head enthusiastically. "Yes please." As odd as she was, at least she had manners?
"Well, someone here was sad and lonely. So, I brought cookies to cheer them up." Jaella explained, chattering like the little children she was so often compared to. "Cookies always make people smile, so I figured they'd help! I was going to bring cupcakes, but cookies are better for cheering up peoples." This was said with a confident nod of her head.

Well, she was certainly a friendly one. As Yua let the young woman in, she found herself wondering just how old Jaella was. She looked like a teenager, but she talked on and on like a young child. "Sad and lonely?" She frowned as she closed the door behind the purple-haired girl. "I'm...not sure who you would be referring to." In actuality, she was already wondering if this sad and lonely person may have been her son. A pang of guilt went through her, but she quickly pushed that thought aside; Mizu was kept inside for his own good. He could get seriously ill or hurt if they brought him outside. He'd been so sickly, ever since he'd been a baby...
Still, perhaps it would be alright to let this girl see him. She looked fairly harmless, and didn't appear to be sick. There couldn't be any harm in it, so long as Mizu didn't become ill from coming into contact with her. "Well, my son's in the room just down the hall...I'm sure that he'd like some of these cookies." She handed the plate back to Jaella. "If he's not sleeping, then I suppose that you could go see him."
Good lord, she hoped that she wasn't making a mistake by letting this strange girl near Mizu.

"That's okay. I'm not sure, either." Jaella said, smiling and shrugging. "I just know it's someone here." She wasn't sure how else to explain, so she didn't. She just knew that she was following her gut instinct, and that it hadn't steered her wrong yet. Key word being yet.
The teen smiled, taking the plate of cookies back. "Okies!" she said, nodding. "I bet he'll like them." She nodded before dashing down the hall, in a gait that was a mix between running, skipping, and bouncing. She skidded to a stop at the bedroom door, a grin plastering itself on her face as she knocked out a little rhythm on it.

Mizu looked up as he heard a knock at his door. Strange, since his parents normally just came in. Perhaps they were trying to give him more privacy? That wasn't like them, but perhaps they were trying something new. The boy smiled as Kouki fluttered over to the door and grasped the handle, pulling the door open. It was only when the little shadow began to chirp in confusion that Mizu realized that the person at the door probably wasn't one of his parents. Who was it then? He didn't usually get visitors.
"La? La, la la la!" Kouki lowered himself to the floor and stared up at the purple-haired girl that was standing at Mizu's door. She was definitely unfamiliar to the shadow, which was enough reason for the little creature to be curious. It also gave him a reason to be shy.
Moments later, Kouki had scurried back over towards Mizu's bed and had ducked behind the sickly teenager. The boy smiled at the little shadow before looking back at the girl, his tail flicking slightly behind him. "Hello." She certainly seemed excited. Perhaps she was the child of one of his parents' friends? And was she holding a plate of cookies? "Are...you a friend of my parents'?"

Jaella smiled at the little black thingie that had answered the door. "Aww, aren't you adorable?" she squee'd, kneeling down to give the little shadow a pat on the head. Blue eyes widened as the little winged fellow scampered off before she could. Her eyes followed it, landing on a....kitty? Kitty! She grinned at the boy, standing back up. "Hiya!" she chirped, beaming at him. "Not really; I just met your mom. She's a nice lady." The girl giggled before skipping over to the boy, holding the plate of cookies out.
"Here! Help yourself!" she said, grinning before nabbing one of sugary treats for herself. "They're nummy." she assured the boy, plopping down to take a seat on the floor.

Just met her? So...she didn't know his parents? Then where had she come from? The girl came over next to his bed before he could ask, offering him a cookie from the plate she was holding. He hesitated for a moment before taking one; it wasn't very often that he got to eat stuff like this.
"Thank you..." The impling glanced over his shoulder, smiling to Kouki in an attempt to reassure the little shadow. "It's okay." He took another cookie from the plate and offered it to the winged creature; it didn't take very long for him to accept the treat, after which he inched out from behind Mizu. Apparently, sweets helped with his shyness. It was then that the boy returned his attention to the purple-haired girl before him. "What's...your name, if you don't mind me asking...? I'm Mizu." He took a bite out of his cookie after asking the question, finding that it was, in fact, quite good.

Jaella smiled brightly, devouring another cookie in what seemed to be one bite. Mmm, sugary-baked goodness! "My name's Jaella. It's nice to meetcha, Mizu!" she said, offerning the boy a grin. "You look like a kitty. I like kitties!" Judging by her tone and sunshiny expression, that was meant as a compliment. She looked over to the little shadow, waving to it. "What's your name?" she asked it, tilting her head to the side in curiosity. The little black jelloy-fellowy hadn't said much; she hoped all was okay. Maybe he was just one of those quiet-like people?

"It's nice to meet you too." Mizu found himself wondering if Jaella had eaten any of the cookies before coming to visit; she was quite hyper. She was also probably the first person who'd ever said that he looked like a kitty - not that he ever got to MEET people very often, but that wasn't the point.
"Oh, um, this is Kouki..." The impling boy glanced back to his shy shadow, who was now munching on the cookie that he'd been given. "He's a little shy..." Actually, a little was putting it lightly. The winged creature rarely interacted with anyone who wasn't Mizu. He didn't even seem to like Mizu's parents very much... "C'mon Kouki-kun; say hello." It look a moment, but the little creature stepped out a little.
"La...?"
