 I've been hearing plenty of rumors that after the fifth generation of Pokemon they are calling it quits. As in no more generations of Pokemon. Is it true?

I heard after the fourth one it would end. :/ I hope it wont end. Or Ill be depressed.

I would imagine that it might depend a lot on how well Black and White do. Probably not, but you never know.

I don't see it ending anytime soon. The Pokemon franchise is still going very strong. I mean Black and White have already gotten 1 million pre-orders and they're expected to reach 1.5 before their release. They're doing quite well with the franchise so I don't think they'd want to call it quits just yet.
Though we never know. It might actually depend on how well Black and White really do. If they do well, I wouldn't see a reason to stop making more. Why stop a good thing?

They almost pulled the plug when Platinum came out.
Thank God they didn't, supposedly that was going to be the last game.
So none of you see this ending anytime soon?
Thank God, I wouldn't know what to do if I wasn't able to collect the cards anymore.

all stories must come to an end... the Pokemon world will one day vanish but that doesn't mean it will ever be forgotten.

There were originally 1000 pokemon designs. We're at 649, it won't be over for a long time boys (and girls).

leaderpeine There were originally 1000 pokemon designs. We're at 649, it won't be over for a long time boys (and girls). I find that hard to believe. Satoshi himself said he started with only somewhere around 200 pokemon ideas, some of which merged into other pokemon, such as the form of Dragonair.

I don't know... As much as I enjoyed White it's obvious that they're really running low on ideas now.
I hope it doesn't end any time soon, but at the same time I don't want it to drag on and on to the point were it's clearly stretching them to do so. You can only play out the whole "you're 10 years old, time for you to start encapsulating wild animals and making them fight to the death then inevitably become the champion" scenario so many times.
If it does end though, then before that I hope they make a game with more choice than to just become the Champion. I don't always want to beat the League. I want to be a gym leader sometimes, or even a member of one of the criminal teams. That would be pretty sweet to see, although I have doubts it'll happen.

It would be rather amusing if they released "Pokemon Z" as the remastered edition for "X" and "Y" as a finale for the franchise. Wouldn't that be something?

It would be nice to play from a different side of things. I mean we had ourselves playing as Pokemon in the mystery dungeon set and as Rangers in the Pokemon Ranger set. It would be interesting to be able to choose your side and do something besides fill up the same pokedex and beat the League. With so many branches of ideas that can be made I don't see the end of Pokemon in site. Maybe no new Pokemon evolutions and all but there are getting to be a bit much as it is. I remember my friends and I being able to list all 151 at one time. Don't think many kids now can list all, what is it? 649 now?
