Skye was one of these Crystal girls that you knew went to that school. She wore the clothes that showed off her wealth and everything about her was expensive. She had her hair down today which was a rare thing as she took hours to get her hair right before going out. She was satisfied with the outcome and had decided to go looking for something to decorate the room with. She was thinking of finding a nice painting maybe, one for her side and then maybe a present for Serah. She would quite possibly dote on her room mate a little too much now she was out of her coma but then that was Skye.
She liked to look at the artists that sold their work in the market and at the side of the street. She believed they were the more deserving as they were trying to sell their paintings themselves and Skye always liked a charity case to make herself feel better. Of course if she could give money to someone more needy then her and get something back from it, there was no doubt she would. Skye was selfish, there was no doubting about that.

Billy,...well, he had been sent to Hillworth for a reason. He came from less-than-favorable origins, and he didn't like it. He was determined to rise above and conquer. However, pulling himself up from his station in life would be like trying to build a mansion on a foundation meant for a log cabin. Didn't mean he wouldn't try though. He always wore the best clothes he could afford, and kept his silver hair a respectable length and style. It was just a matter of whether or not one could take a guy with barbie-pink eyes seriously, and if they couldn't, well, he'd surely rectify that.
That day Billy had headed out early with a duffel bag full of carefully packed paintings. He was a self-taught airbrush artist, but he'd never waste his talents on clothing or car plates! Rather, he used large fabric canvases. His paintings, he believed, were meant to be hung on the wall - preferably framed, but it wasn't like he went into the homes of his customers to see just how they treated his work. Billy claimed an empty bench along the sidewalk near the market. Unzipping his duffel back, he unrolled the first of the lot and draped it over the back of the bench, a second following along in quick yet careful succession. The rest were left rolled up on the seat portion of the bench, half unrolled in hopes that the teasing glimpse would catch someone's eye.
Billy's work was usually landscapes. Most featured night skies full of sparkling stars overlooking mountains, or maybe a field of flowers...maybe even the occasional lake and castle ruins. In each he tried to incorporate a ethereal feeling - something magical. This time Billy had a new piece, proudly displayed on the bench - a crystal forest, shining and shimmering. It was a vertical piece. In the center there was a path that seemed to lead to a dark castle off in the distance. It was framed by trees that seemed to glow white in the light of the full moon that overlooked the path. Then there was the scattering of crystals along the path. Maybe the trees themselves were crystal - who knew. Billy was rather proud of this one. It was the first time he'd experimented with sparkly paint. He had been frustrated at having to use a paintbrush to apply it, but the result was satisfying. Billy was always looking for new things to try. He was just glad this one had worked so well.
There was no reason customers wouldn't stop by. He could see the demand for copies of this one now. To say it didn't place a rather devilish grin on his face would be a major error.

Skye wandered around a few stalls looking at various items and pictures but nothing really caught her eye. There were a few rather pink things but they just looked cheap and if Skye was going to get Serah a present it would be better then that.
It took her a while before she came across Billy and however much he may have liked it, the new painting of his didn't catch her eye. It was something else. It was just a painting of the night sky with the stars and the view beneath that sky was enough to make Skye smile. She then noticed the crystal forest and looked at it in a way that made it look as if she knew what she was looking at. Of course she was no artist, she just knew when something looked good and when it didn't.
"Do you do commissions?" She didn't look at Billy when she asked, she just asked. Of course it wasn't rare for her family to commission an artist, she had her portrait done many times. She wasn't sure what she would ask him to paint but that wasn't really the point.
"Oh and I want that!" She pointed to the crystal forest, maybe Serah would like it? She hoped so it was pretty and the crystals did seem to shine. Even if Serah didn't like it the painting would look good on their wall.

Billy was just finishing setting up as Skye looked over his work. Perhaps had he put up his sign first he would have saved the girl a question....and perhaps if he were a less honorable person he would have put it off further and price jack his early customer, but that wasn't good for business. And he wasn't that scummy.
"I do on occasion," he said as he went to get her one of his crystal forest copies. The original was always for display, and he never displayed a new piece until he had made at least two more copies. He located the rolled up fabric without even having to unfurl it to make sure - he knew by the ribbon holding it closed. He'd long since developed a color system with the ribbons.

Skye looked at him curiously trying to work out how much he would cost. She was sure that she could pay him, after all her parents gave her a rather nice allowance and she could always ask for more.
"Do you paint anything other then landscapes?' She was curious, there was obviously the ones that he had imagined and she wasn't sure whether the landscape ones had been painted out at the place in the picture or if again they were just something of his imagination. They were good though, she liked them.
"How much do I owe you for that?" She wasn't really bothered how much it cost as she was still wondering whether he would paint something for her. She knew what she wanted now, it would just be whether he would be up for doing it or not.
