This was just another long day in the making for Jonas. He stood in the front portion of his shop leaning against his the counter he normally sells his weapons from staring up a extremely large whole in the roof in his shop. He didn't have a expression on his face as a gentle breeze moved through the roof and a few more pieces feel down onto where his weapons forge had been located. Now he was guessing how much it would take to fix this mess.

Worst part was the rest of his shop had started to make a creaking noise and he was starting to worry that it would transfer all the way to his roman style that his shop was connected too. This shop was technically the front door to his home so he wasn't taking chances. Last thing he wanted was to go on his Hraapea hunt in Nuan then come back to his home in Aerr and find his shop and home caved in on itself.

He had contacted a company to come out to inspect everything but it was already mid afternoon and he wasn't in the mood for some halfwit. He looked at a mirror on the adjacent wall that survived the cave in and saw how he had dressed himself this morning after hearing the crash. His white button dressed shirt was open at the collar while his slacks were wrinkled and laced with dust he had to sweep up.

He had a casual look overall even though he wasn't up to his dressing stander he had a casual air about him. He never got his house fully inspected in the last few years.

It had been a long time since she had been called in to take over her former teacher's work. The last time had been because he was taking a new student out on a lay of the land. This time, the reason had been just that he was too busy and though she could use the work.

"As if I cannot get my own work." Sera mumbled as she came up to the building she had been told to inspect. Her first reaction was to wince. Even at twenty five, the woman knew enough to say that the stucture needed help. I wonder how the owner would feel to just knock it down and start over?

Giving a single groan, Sera pushed open the front door.

What she saw took the girl's breath away. A giant hole in the ceiling let in the afternoon sun. Dust covered the floor and mostly everything else one could see. That included the man Sera suddenly assumed to be he owner.

Keeping her stance near the door, the woman crossed her arms over the white corset she wore. Black pants matched an open black jacket. With a pair of basic heels, the woman looked a mix of professonal and womanly.

"I take it you are the owner of this place? My name is Sera Alexander. I am here to take a look at your..." Her eyes turned skyward and then back towards the man. "lovely home?"

The sight of a bird coming into the shop and landing on the exposed beam was the last thing Jonas needed. He lowered his head in defeat wondering how much he really needed this portion of the house at the moment.

His musing were cut short as he heard the sudden sound of his door opening. The only stable thing probably. He was in such a rough mood he forsaken his usual looking a pretty woman over. Just showed how bad his day was going.

"Ahy, this is my 'lovely' home and shop. God forshaken roof collapsed on my forge." He sighed pushing himself off the counter and walking over to the pile and seeing a blade handle pulled it out only to find it cracked and bent in multiple directions.

"I'll take it your the inspector." His voice came out low and tired, he was finally acting his age.

Following the man's movements, Sera steped over towards the so called 'forge' and looked up. What she saw didn't surprise her for the mess it made. Wood rot covered many of the remaining boards. What looked like termites and other bugs had come and gone leaving quite a few holes. I'm surprised it took him this long to call someone.

Shaking her head as she looked down at the remains of everything, Sera only gave a long shake of her head. "You would be correct Mr..." Leaving the statement open, the woman leaned down and picked up some pieces that looked slightly burnt. His own work could have made this an even bigger problem in the long run.

"You are lucky this didn't happen when you were in here. From first look, you are working in a ticking time bomb. Not to mention you have been out populated by bugs and other animals." Her finger pointed upward towards not only the bird resting there but a small mouse that seemed to be inspecting the suddenly shorter beams. "Is this the only place that was damaged or was there more?"

Jonas was still depressed over his hard work being turned into bent scraps of metal. He gave a tired sigh as he tossed the junk blade back into the pile. "Valentine. Just call me Jonas, I really don't care..." He said as his eye went over to the mouse before shaking his head. Now he knew why he always thought his pantry was a little thin at times.

"Yes this is the only damage currently. I'm more worried about my home. It's old, maybe historical...doesn't matter what they call it to me." He said as he walked to door at the back of the shop and opened it to revel a short tight passage way that opened out to reveal his atrium with a rectangular pool in the middle and a mural of a shield made into the floor.

He held the door open for her patiently. "I got the shop portion of this place about thirty years ago. The couple died and left me the house portion of it. It's mainly stone but the study is wood and so is the kitchen." He said looking it over.

"I haven't caught your name? They gave me a males name but I'm guessing it was misinformation."

Nodding as she listened, Sera walked past Jones and into the small hallway that was behind the door. Running her hand along the walls, she glanced around and took in everything. Even this wood was starting to give way. While it wasn't as bad as the working room, it was still showing age.

Stopping at the opening, her eyes shown with the water. "Well you got lucky. They had pretty good taste for their age. However," Her feet slowly carried her over towards the pool. Leaning down, she picked up a loose stone leaving a small hole in the floor. "They seemed not to remember to have it updated."

Listening, Sera smirked, fingering the stone in her hand. "That would be my mentor and teacher. He called me last minute to do this for him. Call me Sera."

Turning away from him, she looked up at the top of the walls. "I promise I'm just as good, if not better, than him. And I can tell you now that you are not going to be happy with my report so far. Have you considered rebuilding parts?"

He followed behind her silently listiening to the clicking of her heels for a moment before standing behind her watching as she picked up the loose stone. "Ahy..." He watched the stone for a moment before clicking his tongue. "That might be partially my fault. I practice and train in this portion of the house.." He said pointing a part of the mosaic where a large streak or broken stone ran through the edge of it.

He nodded hearing her statement about who the name he got earlier was. He lifted a brow at her when she spoke about how good she was. "I would hope so. As much as I'm paying you guys" He said frowning at her question.

Jonas could stand losing some of his stuff but his study was almost entirely wood and important on his hraapea search. He was so close. "Anything but the study I have important...research..." He said frowning looking toward a door that was down a short hall.

"I guess I still need you to check it..."

"Well that could explain more of the damage than any other creature I could come up with. Have you ever thought of doing something less..." She paused and glanced around. "Destructive?"

Smiling as she glanced towards the side room, the young woman nodded. "Yes. If you want all the work you are paying me for. Though I don't mind getting done early and still getting my check." Sera smirked slyly as she crossed her hands just under her chest. The jacket had fallen back around her giving a rather lovely view of her cleavage.

"And you know, Mr. Jonas, I cannot undo what has already been done. They recommend you have these checks quite often if your profession causes such damage. The stone can be repaired decently but any place of wood..." Her tongue clicked as she glanced away. "Well, why don't you show me the study and I'll be the judge of it. Don't worry. Whatever you are doing will be fine. Wood rot doesn't seem to eat ink."

Research hm? The last scientist she was with gave her a 'daughter'. Well, as close to a daughter as she would ever get. Lorena was her pride and joy and was home right now under orders not to touch anything outside her room. What would this man provide her with?

Jonas got a chuckle out of her statement. It was funny how he always prided himself on being so precise with his weapons in a fight. Although for training he was used to showing of for girls and well they always loved seeing sparks fly when steel met rock. "If I did that I wouldn't of made a good guard."

He gave a small smile as he listened to her speak. Yeah she pretty much would be getting over, although maybe he could make a friend. Once again he was intrigued by the fairer sex, although he still wasn't in the mood to give her his hundred and ten percent. "I guess you wouldn't." He said admitting defeat and was glad he mastered the skill of not looking when he was a lot younger.

"I understand that." He said to her as he looked around. "I wasn't paying as much attenction to my home as I should. My recent trips to Nuan hasn't helped." He said with a sigh as he started to feel his personal bank accout might have to go into his shop's at this rate.

"I hope not. As much time as I spent working on it." He said walking to the door. "Well, since I seem to enjoy you company. And getting the full value of my money you get to invade my privacy." He joked as he opened the door to his office and bowed slighlty as part of his joke.

It was riddled with information on Hraapea's from guessed pictures on the walls to a strange training schedule left by itself. Papers were left on the desk that held different infomration on a few hraapea he had meet although their names were all coded.

"My research is on...mythical being that affected the past." He lied, they were based he, he supposed, on the hrapys of the past. So it seemed plausible if no one looked too closely at the papers.

A single word caught her attention in his language. A guard? Well that made this a very interesting situation. She would have to watch this.

"Nuan? An interesting place. I have been there quite a few times with a new client of mine. Not my choice location but it suits their needs." She smiled back, rolling her eyes as he mocked her with a bow. At least he was starting to warm up to her. This would make her job about ten times easier. A happy client revealed more information about how damage came to be. Less likely to hide embarrassing details.

What her blue eyes caught almost made her gasp. Women with wings. Men with talons. All shapes and sizes lined the walls and littered the floor. It was hard to look at something else until she noticed someone on the desk. A female she had seen. One of Amerald's daughters.

"Harpies?" Her voice cracked as she looked from the papers towards Jonas. "An interesting choice. I wouldn't know where to begin with them."

She smiled and pulled off her jacket. Bare shoulders and a lightly toned arms folded the jacket over her left elbow. "But I take it this is your passion, outside of causing damage to the frame of your house?" Looking up, she tried to watch his gaze. This was really thin ice.

"So have you had any trouble in here as in the other rooms?"

He got a small laugh from her rolling her eyes and shrugged a little, Nuan has been many things to him. "For me has, I hate it though." He said following behind her and blinked as he heard the gasp. "That bad?" He asked as he started straightening up a few papers.

Jonas caught the picture she had been looking at. It was a picture he got drawn of what a person said was Annabel. He never actually met her but a few people said they seen her when she landed or something. He had doubt of that since all the other Hraapea had been with guardians.

"Angels among humans in view." he said giving her a smile, ignorant o what she knew. "Just look at it in recent cultures."

He blinked as he saw her pull of her jacket. She had a nice body he give her that, "For now anyway. Once I...acquire something I will probably become a regular customer." He said imagining how much damage he could cause teaching a hraapea how to fight like a monster. He had so far collected enough data to make them the best at war, and maybe his own child at the same time.

"Not really. I upkeep this room actually. I can't have my research getting ruined." He said leaning on his desk watching her. She seemed tense now.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 27, 2010 8:38 pm

"I wouldn't say it's bad. Just..." She searched for the right word as she took another look around the room. Was there I right word for what she was looking at? Angels? That was one way to put them. From the sisters she had met, angel would not be the word she picked. Still, she could see how the man got that.

Letting out a sigh, she turned her blue orbs skyward. Pretending to inspect the ceiling, Sera let her mind wonder. This could be interesting. Why would someone, outside of Amerald, be interested in the hraapea was just mind blowing.

"It's messy." Her words came in a breath as she seemed to snap back into reality. "Frankly, if you do not think this room is in disrepair then I shall believe it because to fully inspect it would require about two days worth of cleaning and I do not think you wish to hire a maid and then pay me to come back." With a smile, Sera looked back towards the door they had come in. She wanted out of the room. It really brought a chill up her back.

"Long story short, your courtyard needs a few new stones or a good deal of concrete. As for your shop area." Closing her eyes, Sera ran the figures in her mind. The roof had to go. Completely. A new forge and store front would most likely be in order as well. If the man wanted to save a bit, she might be able to reuse some of the lesser damaged bricks and blocks. "Well that's another story."

Turning around and looking at his face, she held her jacket in front of her stomach. "Frankly you would be better off just rebuilding it to whatever design you had wished. To restore it would cost quite a bit. Though do I remember you saying something about this being a 'historical' building? If that is the case then we have an entire different battle ahead."

Work. Talk about work. Get him into it and leave this mess behind. Last thing she needed was to slip up about her daughter.

Jonas lifted an eye brow as he waited for her to finish her sentence. Moving all the things he collected might take a few hours but he could manage. Although paying for her to come out again wasn't something his bank account wanted.

Finally getting tired of waiting he looked at a sheet of paper on his table with a few facts he had about a child Hraapea looking it over with notes he took. Finally he lifted his eyes to her and gave a click of his tounge. "True."

"That's not too bad..." He said but a sad frown came on his face at the thought of having his shop torn down but he probably needed it. He let out a pent up sigh, "Guess I'm going to be the owner of a stall for a while. I'll worry about that when it comes." He said rubbing the side of his face.

"Why is that?" He said looking at her saying it was a different battle. Another sigh escaped his lips as he remember when he realized that "battles" weren't always just physically hurting another. "If it has somethign to do with the goverment don't tell. Last thing I need is them ruining my life...again."

A soft look appeared on the woman's face as she watched his tone shift. The government, royals, whatever you wanted to call them, had a way of coming into everyone's life and just throwing it to the wind. But this wasn't something she could do. A historical building had rules and methods that needed to be followed.

With a sigh and a drop in her shoulders, Sera let it all out on the table. "Look, it's not that easy. If someone knows what this place is or was then there could be problems involved for everyone. You would be fined and your designer could lose their ability to work. That's why I ask. Not just to jump in and throw you to the blood hungry hounds we call a royal family."

Walking over towards him, she stopped just an arms reach away. Sera had to make sure he understood this wasn't something to take likely. "I'm not here to make your situation worse. I want to help you. I hate seeing people unable to work their trade. So, if this is historical, then I could jump a few hoops for you, free of charge, and get this process rolling. Though it would require you to make up your mind about a few things and prove that you did not cause the damage in the first place."

Sera stopped and chuckled. "At least to the shop area."

Jonas didn't notice the look on her face as he looked at the ground scowling. He wasn't going to let them ruin this life now. They stripped him of his military career without even a hearing now this place? He was older now and didn't have anything else to live for other then the cigars, alcohol, and women. Often not in that order.

"Figures, take away my military career then my home and profession...." He blinked as he looked at her hearing the end of sentence. Why help him? He really hoped this wasn't the 'old' man thing people sometimes gave him. "Why help me Miss? You barely know me."

He leaned back against his desk staring at another picture on the wall. The male was one he knew wasn't in existence but he pictured what he could do with that. Train him hard, teach him throughly, then at the end unleash his protege. He needed to keep his home, the seclusion would make it all happen.
