And Vynnessia makes me think of Hawaii which makes me think of volcanoes. ]]The breeze was carefree and carried the scent of a morning storm long past. Grassblades glistened with the water that was still clinging to them. A wonderful collection of song birds sang not too far off in the multiple trees of the orchird. Everything was at peace with each other.
Trey had gone out amongst the apple trees to pick some for the house. Since all too many of them were eating unhealthily. Since the other males of the house were out and about most of the the days, Trey had taken it upon himself to care for the make-shift family. He even enjoyed moments like this where things were easy. Even if he was a bit lonely.
A girl he had hung out with as a kit had recently stopped coming by to see him. Trey had debated going to see her himself but felt he might intrude. It would be impoliet to come over unannounced but he had no means of getting in contact with the girl otherwise. It seems Trey would just have to get used to doing things on his own for a while.

Vynn bounced down the path as she admired the scenery around her. She had stayed up late listening to the rain trembling in excitement at the prospect of being able to play in it the next morning. So what if everyone else saw her as a child or immature. There really wasn't much point to living if you didn't take time to have fun.
Although...the downside to living that way was that you ended up getting lost quite frequently. Which she had. "Ah well. At least I'm lost somewhere pretty." She slowed her pace a little as she started to notice how hungry she was. It didn't help of course that she was in the middle of what seemed to be a small orchard. She looked around a little guilty as she veered into the trees looking for something to eat. Maybe she'd even find someone to give her permission to take some of the fruit. Then she wouldn't feel like such a thief.

The sound of approaching steps was obvious in the relative silence of the scenery. "Hello?" Trey called down below him. He peered through the branches of the tree he was in as best he could. Try as he might, though, he saw nothing.
Trey was about to chuck it up to paranoia when figured appeared from around a tree's trunk. "Ah! Hello." Remembering his manners Trey climbed back out of the tree and landed on the ground right before the new arrival.
A poliet smile was on Trey's face as he survayed the femme. Her overall demear seemed to be that of someone lost. "May I be of service somehow?" The question sounded way too formal, but that was just how Trey spoke to strangers.

She was pleasantly surprised as she watched him climb down from the tree. He sounded stiff and a bit formal, but she sort of liked the way it made him sound. As if he were some sore of exotic dignitary. As she let her imagination create a sordid and difficult past for him in some far off place she struggled to decide how to answer his question. She didn't mind being lost so much, so she decided to start with the problem of her being hungry.
"Ah..well, I was out for a walk and got a bit turned around. I wouldn't mind so much if it weren't for the fact I missed breakfast. Would it be to much trouble if I asked to have some of those gorgeous apples?" She smiled a pretty smile as she looked around. Whoever kept the place gardened did a wonderful job.

Trey nodded polietly as the femme related her tale. He listened intently but wondered why she was not more concerned about being lost. If it were him, that would be very troublesome. Not one to butt into things, however, Trey stuck to what was requested.
"Have all that you want," he said with a glance up at the tree tops. "It's more of a communal orchid so it is open to everyone." Once more Trey looked from the stranger to the apples hanging above. He shook his head ever so slightly before turning as if to leave. "I have some already picked over here if you would follow me."

"I see! Thanks a lot!" Vynn moved to follow him, glad to have found someone so polite and willing to help her out. With the problem of her hunger settled she pursed her lips in thought as she tried to mentally re-trace her steps. She realized with a start that she had yet to introduce herself. Hanging her head in shame she cleared her throat. "Its really nice to meet you. I've never met anyone who's so polite. My name is Vynnessia, but everyone calls me Vynn." Her father would be ashamed at her lack of manners. He had done his best to pound it into her head to always introduce herself as soon as she met someone new.

The smile on Trey's face this time looked a little more sincere. "It's nice to meet you as well, Vynn. My name is Trey..." Some emotion flickered on Trey's face suddenly as he looked downward.
His smile had slipped and he now seemed very concerned about something. Trey's face was scrunched up as if trying to recall the oldest memories he had. Finally he lifted his gaze once more to Vynnessia's before continueing. "And I don't believe I have any nicknames. So 'Trey' will have to do."

Vynn laughed, though she did her best not to. "Well that's fine. Trey isn't half as long as Vynnessia, so it's not as hard to remember." She picked an apple and bit into it. It was luscious and she had to try very hard not to eat too fast. "These are really good! Thanks!" She looked around deciding to worry about being lost later. "So what do you like to do Trey? Maybe we could do something in the future so I can pay you back for being so nice!"

Trey's brow furrowed as he noticed that Vynn was laughing. She was trying not to show it, but he had been around the cheerful sort enough to know the signs. He didn't mind, though. After all, Trey was laughed at by his friend all the time.
She was also polite in other aspects, so Vynn was not seen as annoying to Trey. He nodded his head in response to her thanks, but otherwise just contented himself with checking the apples for bruises. Vynn's question, however, brought him out of his concentration.
"Like to do?..." Trey asked. It wasn't so much that he did not understand the question, as he did not know how to answer. "Well... I suppose I like picking apples and cleaning the house." Honestly Trey had never thought about things he looked forward to doing, only things that had to be done.

[She's fine. She just wouldn't hold still to put calamine lotion on her and was quite cranky the whole time.]
Vynn wrinkled her nose. The part about picking apples sounded like it could be fun, but cleaning was more of a chore. And she detested chores. She happily munched on the apple a little longer before grinning at him. "If that's what you find as enjoyable....but I prefer things like having coffee with friends or just acting like overgrown kids. It can be a bit embarrassing at first, but its a great way to relax and let off some stress. You should try it some time."
She decided that Trey seemed like a decidedly un-fun sort of person. Which of course was her cue to invite him out to learn to be a bit more fun. "In fact, you should come to coffee with me one day!"

It appeared that Vynn did not approve of Trey's favorable tasks. He must have given a bad list. Oh well, it wasn't like he had much to chose from.
Trey listened to Vynn's choice of activities. The coffee he could understand as it encouraged conversation and a pleasent morning. However the 'acting like overgrown kits' had him confused. Kits are rambunctious and often times rude, but messy had to be their most detestable attribute.
Then suddenly Trey was being invited to have coffee with her. "Didn't you say you liked having coffee with friends?" Not that he wouldn't enjoy a cup any day, but Trey didn't want Vynn to feel that obliged to repaying him.

The idea had taken root in her mind and she wasn't the type to let a good idea go. "Of course! We will be friends! You've been so nice to me, I'd like to get to know you and be friends. If you want that is." Here she paused and looked uncertain for the first time. She had been enjoying herself and the conversation this far, but what if he hadn't. Her father had told her once that not all people were as friendly as she was, and might not appreciate her attitude and pushiness. Not that she thought she had been pushy so far.

Trey's brow furrowed when Vynn offered up the idea of them being friends. The young male had only had one friend so far and he had known her since he was a kit. Back then he grew up knowing how to interact with her, but this new female was someone new. Would he be able to make a friendship with her?
A small smile and a light blush graced Trey's face when he finally made to answre Vynn's invitation. "That sounds great, Vynn," he said with a small laugh, "I will be happy to join you in coffee." He had long since been used to the foreful sort so he found himself comforted by her eagerness and cheer. Besides, the only other alternative was wasting away in lonlieness waiting for a friend that may never return. It was time he moved on with his life.

She perked up at his positive reaction and her tail swayed happily from side to side. "Neat! Maybe we could go later today, after I stop being lost." She finished the last bite of her apple and turned her attention to the problem at hand. Again she looked around herself, taking the area in and trying to get her bearings. "So where am I? You said this is a sort of community orchard, do you live near here?"

Trey nodded his head as he remembered the current situation. "Ah, yes," he said rather uncertainly. He looked around the orchid, lost for a second himself, before stopping and pointing out a house that was slightly obscured by the trees. "I live there with a few others. Perhaps in there we can find a map so that you may find your way back home?" Trey moved as is to head toward the house before remembing Vynn's first question. "You're in The Moon's Orchid. Don't mock me for the name; it was called that long before I arrived."
