Welcome to the Demon Days of Summer RP Event! Everyone is welcome to join in as the winiko celebrate the end of summer with an annual party by the beach in the Inbetween.
This is just for fun and a chance for everyone to get together. There will be gift bag prizes randomly handed out in this thread by Sully as we go. Pop in for a quick bite to eat or get cozy and enjoy the party! Day (Lural) will be leading a storyline progression RP line introducing new shop items so feel free participate!
~ ~ ~ Event timeframe: Aug 15th - Aug 31st, bags to open in Sept! ~ ~ ~
General Rules:Keep the OOC chatter in brackets and to a minimum! Go to the main shop for extended chatter, questions, side plotting, whatever! There are no humans in the the Void/Inbetween, and they aren't invited anyway lol. Link a picture in your intro post so we know what character(s) you are bringing to the table. You may use our hosted cert images/thumbs for this.If you RP in a chosen color for a wini please try to stick with it, it gets confusing if a character's colors bounce around. Also, please pick a legible color! Follow normal RP etiquette and remember Sully will kick you out if you are a pain in the rump. Respect each other, and the rules of the shop. The gift bags will be opened at the end of the event, and the nature of the new items will reveal themselves throughout the rp!...::: Setting ::... Although the Inbetween can be a harsh and wild place, it harbors great beauty and tranquility as well. A place where reality thins and the lines blur, out of sight and out of knowledge of most creatures. This is where demons walk freely between our world and the next. Our setting is a vast field of green grass edged by an ancient forest of deciduous trees to the north, and a shimmering red sea to the southwest. The eternally setting sun casts a warm orange pink glow across the scene, causing long shadows. Waves curl up and gently bathe the golden beach. The steady hum of lazy summer bugs sets the mood only occasionally accented by the cry of an ocean bird or howl of a distant demon. A gentle sea breeze ruffles the leaves of trees, and the sparkling lights of fireflies wink in and out of sight.

It had taken all afternoon to set up, but now the lush green grass was dotted with comfortable beanbags, freshly pilfered from that foolish shop that seemed to draw demons to it. Day was quite pleased with herself for this. There were blankets spread out with foods and sweets that she KNEW would attract the others- what self respecting demon could pass up a free meal? And to those who came, she had a surprise.
Flopping down on a small pile of pillows, she folded her paws. Idly, she chewed on the end of plant, humming as she could see a few shadowy figures approaching.
"Welcome, my mortal bound kin." She greeted. "It's summer, and I've got some goods for you from deep within the inbetween. So come, come and enjoy yourselves. This will be a night of fun."

Of course Armada had smelled the food. She had been watching the bright-colored elder setting up whatever event was taking place from her own shadowy vantage for some time, and now she finally rose and began her approach. She eyed the others carefully, calculating, and then settled on a far pillow, languidly stretching her body into a relaxed position.
Oh no, she wasn't going to go to them, they could come to her.

Vienna padded quietly through the forests of the inbetween, yearning desperately to return to the beach of her home. Her bonded had shooed her out of the house and she was feeling rather let down, forced to retreat at least for the time being back to her natural plane.
The scent of food caught her nose and a distant greeting of a distinct female voice caught her attention, and the elder soon found herself following her nose. Her belly rumbled. Grumbling something about wanting the beach instead, she padded silently into the clearing, eyes scanning the brightly colored pillows, blankets, and assortment of food.
She hadn't seen a party like this in a long time...

Loki slowly approached, studying the group so far. He held his head high, calmly peering at the females. He sighed, missing his mate. He hadn't seen Susurro in a long time, but at least there was company here, even if it was not whom he wished to see. He gave a polite bow to Day, in quiet thanks for her efforts in setting all of this up, and found a quiet, comfortable spot to settle, curious as to who would come. Aurianna, meanwhile, walked in proudly, allowing the light to catch on her lovely self. As always, she felt assured she was one of, if not the, prettiest there. She smiled and nodded almost regally to the others, and walked slowly towards a cushion, settling in. This looked to be a good party, she would certainly enjoy herself here.

Peering from behind a tree, the adult female's purplish-blue bangs slipped into her eyes and she snorted, shaking her head with irritation to clear her vision. Something was going on out there...looked sorta' like...a party? How curious. Still, Dyani was reluctant to go strutting off into any strange situation, especially if there were other Wini about. She'd just wait here and watch while... "Oof! Hey!" She stumbled out of her refuge, nearly landing on her face before regaining her balance. She whirled about with a growl, turning on the source of the shove. "Aponi! I swear, if you do something like that again...!" "Why, whatever dost thou mean, mine dear, Dyani?" the fairy-winged Elder chuckled, smiling warmly. "Now that thou art here, however, perhaps thou should'st come along to explore yon gathering and celebration, hmm?" Aponi took a few graceful strides, easily outstepping the smaller adult...who followed after, looking more as if plotting revenge on the Elder than showing interest in the party itself.

"Why are we doing this again?"
"Because, Dad, you need to get out more and get a life."
"...where's the respect anymore...? Kids these days..."
Shiye rolled his eyes. Who was acting like the child here? Really, besides his family, he couldn't remember the last time his father got out and talked to another Wini. Not that he was stalking Aukai or anything, that'd just be weird...plus he had his own life. It was just...Shiye noticed his father seemed reluctant to socialize, to seek out even conversation with others. He would have let his father get by with that...if Shiye hadn't noticed that his father seemed...a bit saddened by his own behavior. Sure, he had Mom, but really, didn't he need more friends?

"Come along, old timer. I'm sure they'll have something appropriate, even for you. Maybe some prune juice and soft foods..." Snickering, the slug-koi slipped away from his father's half-hearted swat, keeping a safe distance as he lead the way, the two water-dwelling Wini males joining the party in short order.

Unlike some of the more shy, reluctant, or just awkward Winiko, the latest lady to arrive strode proudly into the clearing, fins shining in the sunlight and tail swishing slowly behind her. She cast a smile towards each Wini in the clearing, lingering on some of the males, then laughing softly made her way over to grab some refreshments from the table. Having snagged a couple of sweets, she finished them off and licked her lips before looking towards the shoreline. Making sure that at least some of the others were watching her, she made her way to the shoreline and lay down in the shallow waters. With a stretch, she made herself comfortable, water washing over her perfect skin and making it shine all the more. That's right, take a look at Calypso, lovelies...

Sakit came racing through woods towards the clearing where she could smell food. The soft grass caught her off guard, and she slipped, her paws sliding forward, and her body falling back. She landed in a squirmy heap. She laughed at her foolishness as she detangled herself and stood, shaking bits of grass from herself and inspected those who were with her. There were lots of winiko she didn't know, and they were all HUGE. At least she thought they were. The range slug changed direction when she saw an elder with shiny things on her tail, and a shiny mask, and shiny wings and... well, she just thought the elder was shiny. Kodran sighed. Somehow he had been coaxed into being a chaperon for the evening. He watched the orange demon skitter off. Honestly, they weren't children. They were demons. And adults at that! But he had grudgingly agreed. So while he was here, he may as well enjoy himself. After all, there were a number of others here, and they all seemed like they were enjoying things. He paused at the edge of the apparent party, standing a few paces from a butterfly-winged winiko. "Greetings." He said to the female. Gypsy had begged and pleaded with Kodran to take her to this. She didn't want to go alone, because she was sure she wouldn't know anyone. She would have asked her mother, but who wanted to go to a party with their mother? So as soon as they reached the void, Gypsy grinned. Sakit had run off one way, and Kodran seemed to have stopped already. So Gypsy was free to meet everyone! But what was this? Gypsy saw a winiko who looked familiar, though she'd never seen her before. She looked a little like dad. Like dad and like herself. She was a little to shy to go and say hello, so she just stared, slackjawed at Vienna.

Asgard hesitated on the edge of the line of trees as he looked out to the gathering crowd of winikos. His optic band flickered as he observed the scene before him - blankets and pillows spread out over the grass invitingly, many with various types of food piled on them, and demons coming from all directions as if drawn by some supernatural force - possibly the scent of the offered sustenance. It did little to entice Asgard who needed only sun and moonlight to keep himself functional, but he was not exactly here by choice. Perhonen shoved his way between a tree and Asgard, pushing past the much larger demon to follow the scent of the offered food. "Come on," he scoffed gruffly, slapping Asgard's armored shoulder with his stub of a tail as he passed. "You need to get out of that library more often. This will be fun."
"Assumption: unfounded," Asgard protested but only allowed himself a few more seconds of hesitation before he reluctantly followed the smaller demon.
"Shut it," Perhonen grumped as he fanned his wings to catch the sun's warmth. "You're just as dull as Scylla. Get out and away from that mortal more often - see the world. One wonders if you've ever been to a party before." Frankly, he rather doubted it. Asgard rarely left the archives below their home unless it was to watch the clouds or shuffle around in the snow, and since it was summer, the latter was out of the question. The demon needed a good, solid round of socializing as far as Perhonen was concerned.

Kayin had heard there was going to be another big shindig this year to celebrate the end of the warm season. He had heard about it all too well, from the grumping grousing tantruming Gwen. She was still at home, pouting and refusing to come. The large chocolate brown male on the other hand, would never pass up delicious free food and good company! After shifting over to the Inbetween, Kayin made a beeline for the noms, but only made it two steps... "Daddy dad DAAAD! Wait for me!" An all too cheerful little girl voice tinkled over the hum of mellow conversations. Kanika pounced excitedly up and around Kayin's now-paused legs, giggling merrily that she had invited herself. This was AMAZING!"This is no party for kids, runt -" Kayin glanced around, but before he could finish his thought on how to ditch the offspring, another sight caught him off guard...Vienna. More beautiful than ever! He wanted to run to her, but it had been so very long, and he had been such a deadbeat lately. In his hesitation, he caught site of the other demon watching her as well and his stomach sank just a touch. That one wasn't theirs...well, wasn't his... but the stripes, the spiked fins, the angular horns? There was definitely some resemblance.

Vienna eyed the newcomers, paws and talons stretching into the soft grass from her blanket. Her gaze caught sight of someone gawking at her; her first instinct was to call them out, but upon further inspection it became apparent that there were indeed similarities... the spines along her back and the crooked horns mirrored her own. Was that one of Styx's children?
Her grandchild?
She thought about asking, but something else caught her eye. The chocolate brown elder that had waltzed into the clearing tugged at her heartstrings, and she found herself staring intently in his direction. It had been a while since Vienna had last seen the elder male, but the affection she reserved for him only still wormed its way into her stomach.
Armada eyed the viking demon distastefully. She contemplated ignoring him for a minute, an odd grin snaking its way across her maw. Her wings fluttered flirtatiously for a moment, eyes locking sternly with the elder male's.
"Evening," she replied, "Can I help you with something, or were you looking for conversation?"

Having already partook of some of the delicious foods laid out for the gathering, Umber had retreated to a secluded area he had already staked out for himself, before many of the other demons had arrived. Arrayed in a quiet spot on the beach by the red sea, with a grand view of the sunset in front of it, was his easel, canvas, and an array of paints, thinners, and even brushes, custom-made by his human to be more easily grasped by his clawed feet. Although, many times, he preferred using said feet and claws to paint instead of the brushes.
Yes, he knew this was technically a social gathering, but he rarely made it back to the InBetween very often, and his muse was practically screaming at him to take advantage of the situation. He could go socialize later.
Waiting for him was his familiar, and sometimes co-artist, Sepia. Flitting around the canvas he had been guarding, the familiar looked at Umber expectantly.
"No, Sepia, I didn't bring you any chocolate. You know how you get with sugar." At the obvious deflation as the familiar drooped a bit in the air, Umber sighed. "Besides, you wanted to help, remember? And I don't need the work looking like one of us was having a seizure in the middle of it." He gave his companion an apologetic smile.
"Tell you what. You can choose the music, okay?" He pointed a claw at the 'boombox' he had swiped from his human's home, and the pile of CDs sitting on the ground by it. He sometimes liked to use the interesting human 'iPod' contraption when he was carving, but when doing something like this, he usually got paint all over it. "But make sure it's something that fits the mood, okay?" he commented, gesturing at the beach and sky beyond. "No Rammstein this time, please."

Sakura could smell something delicious wafting through the air. She had been on her way to the beach to relax and be sexy. She wandered towards the sent and soon found a gathering of winiko. Wow she thought to herself. She had never seen so many gathered in one place. Than it struck her, "This must be a party." She had heard of such things and had always wanted to go to one. She excitedly strutted down to the gathering, a little too excitedly to be the sexy strut she intended it to be. Not knowing who to talk to she directed her words towards those closest to her as she made her way to the food, "Hello, it smells so delicious here."
