I have to say: Japan has some very interesting junk food. A classmate of mine bought some junk food at the asian market and brought it to a study session. They were like little sugary versions of Japanese food, for example, they had what were suppose to look like mochi balls but it was breaded instead of having a rice paste. I've noticed they do that a lot, have mini gummi versions of sushi and things like that. They seem to make gummi and hard candy in every conceivable flavor. Sometimes it's good . . . and sometime it takes some getting use to. I once had a piece of hard candy. it was suppose to be apple or something, but it was disgusting.
Has anyone else encountered interesting japanese junk food?

Yes, actually. I bought a bag of candy at a festival and there were flavors like cherry and apple, normal ones. But then I encountered a corn flavored one. eek It was nasty. But my cousin liked it, so I gave the corn ones to her. I never ate corn flavored candy again.

I just can never get used to Japanese chocolate in ANY form. I think it's because of the milk.
But I did like a few products of chocolate, like "Melty Kiss", I think it's for winter-only...
For hard candies I loved "Koume". In fact that's actually all I really tried for hard candies......
I also liked those "Giant Cone" in the summer. Really tasty!

I go to anime conventions a lot, and I always seem to find a new candy at each convention. I am not sure if drinks count, but oh how I love Ramune. xD
I am such a con-whore though... >_> lol

I haven't tried much but I absolutelt love Pocky and some kind of rice paper candy? Any ideas? I have lots of opportunity now though, since we have Saraga store close to my house! heart I swear its become my absolute favorite store. I was gonna try a green grass jelly pop but after some research on the net decided against it. (Really funny stuff though on the net.) Durian is an interesting fruit too. Lets see... I got a sake set which I love and any idea where to find sake?

I'm not an expert on Japanese junk food... but it sounds very intresting. Especiall the way it would look... I mean, the Japanese value how the food looks over how it tastes... so it'd probably loiok friggin' awesome.
Btw: I have some Japanese candy "santa" gave me for chrismans... one was "Kiss candy" and the other one was milk.. something.
I don't like pockly (DON'T SHOOT ME YOU HENTAI LOVING FANS) I mean it doesn't really have a taste... so I'll numble on it while I read.
and yeah

I really like the gummies that come out of Japan. I also am experimenting with green tea gum. Is there any kind of green tea gum that is not also mint?

Me and my friends have grown addicted to Baby Star. It's basically dry flavored curry noodles. I had 3 boxes from a lecture by the president. I've also had some good gum, gummis(which taste amazingly like their fruit counterparts), and hard candy

I was at my local Japanese supermarket, and I found a bag of dried fish parts that was, supposedly, snack food. O_o Thank you very much, but I'll stick to Pocky and gummis. 3nodding

Hm... Pocky... I don't like regular, but I like Reverse. Reverse pockey is teh 0wnage. 3nodding I also like Pucca and Ramune. ^^
Anyways, I haven't really had too many Japanese snacks, but from what I've seen they're pretty interesting. I've seen some candy though. They sell it at the Hong-Kong market my friend goes to. It's a Vietnamese/Chinese market, but they've got some Japanese candy too. (Like these marshmellow things.) My friend gets all upset when I'm trying to read the stuff that's written in Japanese. ^^;;

I LOOOOOVE POCKY. I am addicted to the stuff. If you've ever seen Please Teacher... I'm like that. Chocolate Pocky, anyway. I don't care much for the strawberry flavour, and I haven't had much else.
Also, anything from Japan I do enjoy. I have never had Japanese food that I didn't like, and some of the Japanese exchange students at my high school shared their candy and what I've tasted was delicious.
