Asali dragged her paws through the dust, this landscape was getting boring. How many days could one spend in near desert? It was mind boggling that some actually lived here. It had been days since she had last found anything of value, and even then it had been near the lake. This, this was just boring. She laid her ears back against her head as a dry wind passed over, an irritated rumble producing itself in the back of her throat. Her stash, now whittled down to just her crystal and a small shell, was packed neatly in her cheek. In the past this had never bothered her, but for some reason today it was only adding to her foul mood. The wind began to pick up, and her mind leapt to the last storm. The rumble turned into a growl and she made her way to a small patch of trees, starting to dig out a small hollow in the ground just in case.

Raaze found himself enjoying the sun high up in a branch. Peaceful, at least that's what he thought. Of course, that was until he spotted something coming his direction. The day had been so grand to. He had time to take a nap, and now he was relaxing. Though, it seemed it was now about to end. He didn't mind being alone, he had for most his life. Except for the rare encounter, or when he happened to visit Nona.

He flicked his tail and continued to watch her from the branch. He hadn't really seen a female lion up close before, this was beginning to bring curiosity to him. Though it wasn't a good type. He could feel himself becoming a little uneasy and perhaps a little irritated.

The lioness did not seem to notice his presence above her, being too involved in burying her items to protect them from the wind. She was talking to herself, a bit of an unintelligible mumble that sounded almost like a song. The few times she rested lately always left her in a strange state, not quite rested but not tired either. Wandering was beginning to take its toll on her, especially having spent time with those that did not. She was almost regretting her decisions, but was not quite sure how to deal with it. Her things never judged her, never made her feel inferior. The thought calmed her, and she nuzzled the small pile of dirt she had covered them with.

He moved slightly, making little noise. Watching her carefully. His curiosity overwhelming now. What was she doing? He didn't know. He raised a brow, unable to understand why she was playing in the dirt. He figured adults didn't do that type of stuff. Finally, he couldn't take anymore. He frowned at himself for doing this. He cleared his throat. "What are you doing?" He simply spoke as he continued to stare at her. Strange creatures, lions were. At least that's what he had noticed with this one. Perhaps they weren't all like this? Or perhaps they were. He could only assume, and find out later.

Asali flinched, slowly lifting her head upward. Her green eyes seemed empty, as if she were coming out of a trance. "Eh?" she asked, realizing suddenly that he'd caught her, "Nothing, keeping safe is all." Did he know her things were there? Her ears twitched and flicked back, out of unison with each other. She blinked, looking him over. Her etiquette with lions was shaky, with anything else was worse still. She didn't think to offer her name.

His ears twitched back a moment. What? Ah never mind, he figured it wasn't his business to ask questions really. He was just curious, and if she wasn't willing to tell him why she was digging into the earth for no reason, then it wasn't something he was going to pry. "So you just play in the dirt to keep yourself safe. Sounds a bit childish." He simply said. He was now wishing he had kept his mouth shut until she left. Of course, that could have been hours, and even then she could have noticed he was in the tree and freaked out on him for it. Who knows how lions where? He sure didn't. He frowned at her, as he continued to watch. For some reason he didn't want to take his eyes off her. What if she tried to attack him?

Asali narrowed her eyes, rolling onto her back so she could face him more easily. She didn't think for a moment that perhaps exposing her belly to him was not the best course of action, never having been taught proper procedure for these things. "Childish? Why's that?" she asked, scrunching her nose, "The earth rarely moves, it's the most simple place to be. That tree of yours could fall over." She wasn't sure it could, but it sounded reasonable in her mind, things that went in the air tended to come down.

Was she seriously asking him why playing in the dirt was childish? He shook his head almost in disbelief. Of course, not everyone was intelligent he figured. "Digging in the earth like a child, is what it seemed you were doing. It has nothing to do with a tree at all." He simply said with a raised eyebrow. "Unless there is something more to this that you have left out that is leaving me confused." He simply said. His tail flicked back and fourth below the branch. He made no movement to get up. Or any movement but his tail now. "Have you ever tried to climb a tree?" To think of it, he never really saw a lion in a tree. Could they not climb? Or where they all just afraid of a tree falling while they were in them? That seemed rather silly. Why would a perfectly strong good tree fall? It'd have to be a weak one to do that, and anyone who could climb could tell the difference.

"I have, but you never find anything in them," she admitted, wriggling a bit to comfort herself, "All the good things are on the ground." She didn't mind being compared to a child, in her experiences she had always found children to be much happier, and it wasn't a bad thing then was it? She lifted her head a bit from the ground, "Do you want me to come up there?" He didn't seem to, but why else would he ask? Perhaps he'd found something in the tree after all, that would certainly be a reason to stay up there.

"You can find feathers." He raised a brow at her. Then wondering why he even said that. It was true though, he found a ton of bird feathers and nests in trees he had found to sleep in. He scared a few from a tree before too. Though, he was trying to eat them. "Why would I want you to come up here?" He asked her quickly. Of course he didn't' want her to come up here. He wanted to her to leave, but he kept talking to her. It was like a drug when you run into someone. It they talked back, you had to continue to talk to them. No matter how much you didn't want to in the first place. It wasn't fun.

"Well you seemed to," Asali snapped, a little annoyed that she felt she was being mislead. Her teeth peered out when she did, an unintentional bit of threat. "You're not very nice," she said flatly, looking away from him, "You don't want me to come up and you won't come down, it's not civil." Frankly she didn't know much about interspecies relations, or if this was normal, she simply knwe that she didn't much want to turn her back on him right now. Her eyes glittered for a moment when she looked back up at him, noticing through the branches an abundance of fluff about his neck. "What's that?"

Raaze felt a little rumble in his chest. He was beginning to growl without noticing it. He didn't like this female. His ears went back. "Now if I wanted you to come up here, I would have asked you to." He snapped. "I figured I was comfortable up here. What does it matter if I stay up here?" He said irritated with her. He didn't see why someoen couldn't have a conversation like this. Then again, he also didn't WANT one. Quickly as she had snapped at him she was now asking him something. "What? What is what?" He completely forgot about his fur around his neck.

"That thing you're wearing," she sighed, exasperated with this leopard. Were they all this prickly or had she just been particularly lucky? She blew into the air, pushing around a bit of fluff that had come in on the wind. In concentrating on it she became a bit cross eyed, giving a strange undertone to any sort of threat she posed. "You don't have much fun do you?" Fun, in her mind, was not exactly the same as it was for most. She had begun to learn this lately, but the pieces had not quite been connected yet.

"It's fur." He simply said. It had come off something he had killed awhile ago, not really sure what exactly it was anymore. It didn't really matter. It made him look nice, and that's what he liked. Of course, it probably made him look like he was trying to be a lion too. "I don't see a need for having fun." He simply said. If she had been through the things he had, then she'd be the same way as him. Of course, he'd never enlighten her with why exactly he was the way he was. No one would find the pleasure of hearing it. At least that's what he hoped. He wasn't going to be opened about it. "There is no point, in my opinion."

No point in fun? That was certainly a strange perspective. She lifted her head up a bit, bringing her paws close to her chest, "I like it, it's... Fluffy." That was a kind of fun, she wanted to argue, collecting lovely things just like that, but he didn't seem to be in the mood. "Fun keeps me going," she offered, "That's a point. I don't have much else to do." She'd taken on her troubles in a different way, shutting them into a deep recess of her mind and letting fixations take hold. Perhaps his method was better, healthier at least.

"Fur tends to be fluffy." He said with a raised brow. He hoped that she wasn't going to ask for it, cause he wasn't going to be willing to give it up. Not now, not ever. Unless of course, someone who he loved wanted it, but that was besides the point. "Everyone to their own." He simply said. he wasn't about to continue a argument and try to make her understand why it was useless to have fun. That would involve doing stuff he sworn not to do. He lashed his tail about a bit more irritated like. His eyes never left her.

She seemed confused, as if she hadn't thought of that herself. It made sense of course, but she tended not to think in those terms. "Would you like to see my things?" she asked warily, feeling it only fair since he had told her about his. After all, he couldnt get them from way up there, and even if he tried she felt herself quite fast. She puffed herself up as best she could, though years of little food had left her markedly small. "They're quite nice I think."

Was she thinking he was her best friend know? Why had she all of a sudden changed her mood? Females were almost crazy, it seemed. Then again, she was a lion too, so it could be part that? He gave a mental shrug before raising a brow. "Not really' of course he was sure that wasn't really going to stop her. He wasn't particularly interested in useless treasures. Just one thing he kept on him. That was all he needed. Even then, he wondered why he kept it. At one point he knew, but he had long forgotten now.

Asali scowled, "They're very nice." She realized on some level that she had no real right to be offended, but her things to her were all she really had. "You're not very pleasant you know." She'd never met anyone quite like him, and didn't seem to realize the sort of trouble she could be starting. All she really knew was that she didn't much like this. Perhaps this was why she tended to avoid others, though her past few meetings had been quite nice.

"I'm sure they are nice to you." He said. Not really going to say that he didn't think they were nice. For all he knew they could be the best things in the world, or perhaps not. Then again, it didn't matter to him. "I'm not trying to be pleasant." He simply said with a raise of a brow. "I don't feel the need to be pleasant to those I don't care to know." He simply said. He wasn't ashamed of it. Perhaps he was a bit more harsh then he should be, but that didn't stop him. He couldn't help it. It was just who he was.

"You could have left you know," she said with a bit of irritation resounding in her voice, "Or are you afraid you can't get past me?" Her expression turned into a perverse sort of grin, never feeling she had the upper hand before. "I'm not going anywhere." The rare instances she met with others in these lands were not something she would readily pass up. She wriggled again, accentuating the fact that she was on her back. Surely he wasn't afraid, but she wasn't sure what else to make of it.

"I was here first, I don't see why I need to leave" He simply said. It was true, why did he have to leave? He was very comfortable in his branch. He was about to take another nap before she came around, but that had stopped him. "I'm not afraid of anyone" that was half true. He was afraid of something, but it wasn't this female here. He could easily pass her, and if she tried to attack him, he'd defend himself if need be. Then again, he didn't like hitting females. "Then it seems we are stuck with each other for the moment." he said irritatedly.

Asali sighed, resigning herself to the fact that he wasn't going to get much more interesting. She was tired, and the wind had died down. "Fine, you win." She understood the concept of firsts, and he was right. "Be alone if you like," she grumbled, turning herself over with some effort. She had been told there was another lake ahead, and she aimed to find it. Her stash was so small now, she could hardly abide by that. She picked up her things, turning a last irritated look at him, and slunk off. Little did she know she was yet again turned around, heading back where she had come. "You know," she called out, "You really should consider a bit of fun."

He huffed as she started to move. Good residence! He didn't say anything as she picked up her things and started to leave. He could finally get back to what he was doing... What was he doing? He wasn't sure. He yawned and folded his legs crossed. Then he heard her call to him again. Nah, he wasn't gonna do that. At least not willingly.
