Fushigisou & Taru
Fushigisou & Taru
Taru was resting in the place he was most comfortable, a tree branch. He had spent most of the day lounging around occasionally moving from tree to tree. The green male let out a yawn as he chewed on the end of a weed he had managed to grab the last time he was on the ground. He didn’t particularly enjoy the taste, it was rather bland and well, grassy but he liked to think it gave him the appearance of looking cool or tough.
Whether it did or not, well that was a completely different matter. It was probably all just in the leopard’s head and frankly he didn’t care. As long as he could pretend, then all was good. Standing on the branch he stretched out his limbs and let out another yawn.
He was bored, there had to be more to do than just lay around. Maybe there was some rabbit or other small creature he could terrorize. That sounded appealing.
Fushigisou stretched lazily as he dragged himself to his feet, first dipping his front and lifting his hind quarters up for a good stretch, then switching so his front legs were pushing up his head and shoulders. He yawned and shook out his big mane, clicking his tongue behind his large teeth thoughtfully for a moment as he considered his options.
He looked around, thinking himself alone, and spotted a strange moving shadow under the tree he had been napping near. Well, almost under, save for the bush he had chosen as a den between him and the tree. He had leaves sticking to his bluish fir.
Looking up, he saw the source of the movement, surprised to find another cat in the tree. Though this one wasn’t like him. Not a lion, at any rate, as even though it had no mane it certainly didn’t look feminine. Fushigisou had never seen a leopard before.
“Good morning!” Though, it probably wasn’t morning anymore. He had no idea. He just napped whenever it felt like a good time.
It must have been Taru's lucky day because just when he was about to announce that he was bored to the world something, or rather someone, showed up! A grin spread across the leopard's lips as he used his tongue to move his weed to the corner of his mouth. "Don't think it's mornin anymore," he replied looking the lion over. He didn't leave his branch, instead he simply slithered down a little father before laying back down. He let a paw dangle off the side and he was so tempted to tap the lion's forehead but decided he would do it later. He wanted to ease into his game. He wouldn't be happy if it ended too quickly.
"Now who are you and what are doing round these parts?" he asked cocking his head to the right. He figured it wouldn't hurt to get to know a little bit about the other male. Knowledge was power and power was an advantage. Right?
It didn’t take long for the lion to notice the leopard had some kind of stick or grass in its mouth. He tilted his head, wondering what that was about.
“Isn’t it? Oh well, whatever,” he laughed, looking up at the sky to see that the sun was pretty high. Maybe it wasn’t morning, but he had just woken up so it still counted. He chuckled, thinking that logic was pretty sound.
He sat down, looking up at the leopard. Always game for making new acquaintances, he thought it would be worth sticking around for this conversation.
“I’m Fushigisou. I just wander around, so I don’t really know where ‘these parts’ are. Or if they’re any different than the other parts from before. Do you live here? In trees?” He had never seen someone who lived in a tree, but it sounded like a great place: he loved nature, and liked to sleep in bushes. Mostly because he was too big to climb trees, and he never even thought about it.
"Naw," he replied drawing out the sound of the A just a bit. "More of an afternoon now," he nodded. "Gettin' close to evenin' now," he said in a matter-of-fact kind of way. It wouldn't be too long before the sun decided it was time to set. It didn't matter, there was still plenty of time left in the day. There was plenty of time in general. Nighttime often was the most lively.
"Names Taru, nice ta meet cha," he replied with a gruff nod. "That I do," he confirmed when asked if he lived in the area. "Wander around though," he shrugged. He seemed to have a habit of forming half finished sentences. "Sleep in trees," he yawned patting the branch he was on. "What about ya?" He asked.
