He was determined to get away from the pack for part of the day and decided to bring Kianga along for the haul. Utundu, the purple jackal padded along the crowded jungle in search for the thing he wanted to show the young golden female. She was the daughter of his boss/crush type thing. Either way, he somehow considered them together, but that's besides the point.
Utundu figured it was time to finally go somewhere and have some one-on-one time with Kianga, catch up, and maybe bond a little. He has spent so much time being Evita's b***h that he has barely had time to get to know the rest of the family. Evita barely let the two slide today. The only reason she cracked was because she probably wanted them out of her hair.
"So..." he paused awkwardly.
"Are you curious as to where we are going yet?"
Utundu had left it a surprise.

Following the older male, she traced his every step with a cheerful leap. She wasn't familiar with this area at all and that surprised her from how much wandering around she was doing lately. Maybe they would find something interesting. Kianga kind of expected to see something delightful sooner than later, however. After all, it was a surprise and surprises are cool, right?
"Yes, I am!" she shortly replied. She imagined all of the things they could be: from a ancient stone carving to the biggest elephant in the world! Kianga wasn't sure what it could possibly be, but she was excited!

"Well I'm glad you're excited, but you still have to wait." he chuckled.
They were nearing the end of their travels and Utundu slowed down a bit to breathe in the surroundings.
"Ahh, yes. Just as I remember. This is what I had before I met your mother. Your mother is an amazing being. You know that, right? I believe everyone has their reasons for being the way they are, but a good quality in your mom is that she never gives up."
Even though the whole family (mostly Utundu and Evita) argued and had tissy fits a lot, it didn't mean that nobody loved anyone any less. Everyone has their own opinions and personalities but in the end, they were in this together. It was a very sappy idea, but it was something Utundu believed.
"There it is!" he pointed with his paw.

As he mentioned the surroundings around them, she looked around. She didn't see much at first. It looked just like the rest of the jungle and when Utundu started talking about her mother, she got very interested. He's never really talked about her mother before and he's not so much of a type that shares his feelings. It was surprising.
"Yes, she is." she agreed with Utundu. Although she was cranky a lot of the time, she still loved her mother dearly. She wanted what she thought was best for her and her children.
As Utundu pointed to something, Kianga looked closer. What she saw made a smile grow upon her face. She had to get closer to see it, but she heard the sound of falling water before she could even see it. She already knew what it was. They got closer to see a waterfall that emptied itself endlessly into a pond. It was one of the most beautiful things she's seen.

As Utundu watched a grin appear on Kianga's face, the same happened to himself. He was happy that he made her day a little better. Normally he's causes trouble for others, but he felt different about Evita's children.
"That's not everything I wanted to show you!" he added. He pointed to a large tree that had to be a couple hundred years old!The was an obvious den made in a hole in it, but you could tell it was not made anything recently. Leaves kind of hid it and a build up of dirt and anything else the jungle blew into it.
"This is where I grew up. I learned how to swim in that pond down there. Although my parents didn't want me anymore, I still needed a home, so this was it."

"Oh, wow!" Kianga was impressed that he knew exactly where everything was. It was pretty cool to come back here and see how he grew up and learned everything.
"The waterfall is so beautiful..." She came to the edge of the cliff and looked down. This frightened her a bit, but it took her back to the time when Lazarus and her jumped off a smaller one together. She suddenly didn't feel as scared anymore. It was beautiful, though. Kianga wasn't quite sure where all of the water was coming from, but she figured it was probably from a stream on the other side of the cliff. The mist from it falling sprayed up to where they were standing. It felt quite refreshing actually. She wanted to stand in it all day.

Letting the spray of the waterfall, water his fur gently, he looked at Kianga. He wished that he could take her swimming in the pond below, but he couldn't today. Evita had a short amount of time she wanted them gone and they had to follow that if they wanted her in a decent mood.
"I'm really glad you liked seeing my old home." he smiled at her.
"We should really be heading back soon, though, so your mom doesn't get ants up her bum."

She didn't really want to leave quite yet, but she knew just as well as he did, that if they didn't get home on time, Evita would have a field day with the two. For some reason, her mother liked keeping track of where everyone exactly is. It's to be expected for any mother, but she took it way too far.
"Yeah, I suppose." She drooped her head slightly and started walking back. Looking back at the waterfall, she made up her mind that it was something she was interested in visiting again soon. She didn't want to see something as magical as that just pass by in her memories. Kianga wanted to feel that cool mist again, or perhaps swim in the actual pond below. She must come here again, but with who? Would she even remember the way?

The purple male noticed that Kianga hadn't really talked a whole lot during this whole visit, but he figured that was probably normal. After all, they really hadn't talked this much one on one before. They didn't really have much to talk about either. Every day was almost routine... at least for Utundu. It never used to be, but it is now. He hoped to change that someday.
Perhaps he would come back here again and take a swim. He wasn't really sure. Or maybe he'd do something completely out of the ordinary.
"You know... even if our little trip was short, I think it was fun taking this trip with you, kid." he told her with a smile. He bumped his body into the side of hers playfully, hoping for a response. He was just trying to have a little fun. Maybe he could do something with all of the girls someday.

Kianga wasn't used to individual attention from Utundu. Everyone was always in a group together or he was always with her mother, so it was just something new to her. She enjoyed that he took the time out for just her today, though. It showed he cared about more than just Evita. He cared about Kianga and her siblings as well.
"I thought it was quite fun also!" she said with a smile. When he bumped into her, she made a giggle, but she wasn't sure if she was comfortable yet to play back. She just left it at that. Kianga was glad she took this trip. It created a different view of Utundu.
She preferred this view.
