 Dagda shook the sleep from himself once he'd managed to wriggle from the 'pile' he, Tama, Muscail, and Codail tended to sleep in (along with whichever of Tama and Muscail's nearly-grown cubs still hung around the den). Ah...another day, another round of duty. Such was the life of a Warrior in the Mizuka'nyevu. Not that he minded it. Not at all. Dagda was VERY content with a nice quiet life, his mate at his side, watching the cubs of his adopted children grow. It's the sort of life he'd wanted as a cub. And now, all grown and far from his birthlands, he had it.

 Feidhlim too had been up early, but not for the same reasons as his step-father. Unlike many of his siblings, he had no mate, no other den, and so he remained in that of his parents. He'd woken in silence before his family and untangled himself to step outside to think.
Lately he had been dreaming. Strange dreams full of mist, and lions he knew in the pride. There he could talk to them, interact as if he was in the waking world...For a time he'd thought he'd been moving in his sleep, but no one else seemed to remember these incidents. And now he'd dreamed of a female...a beautiful female, sweet and kind and tender...in need of protection from her sorrows, and someone to help her life be filled with joy. But...she didn't even remember that they'd met. And so he sat, outside the den, staring into space and thinking.
"What should I do...?" He sighed.

Dagda noticed Feid, and looked at his stepson carefully before stepping forward to stand beside the paler lion. "What is on your mind? You look troubled, son." Even though they weren't of his blood, Dagda had watched Feid and his siblings grow up and had helped teach them the things they needed to survive.

Feidhlim glanced up as his father questioned him. This would be the way to do it, to ask for help. He knew he could trust the brown lion not to condescend to him, nor to give bad advice. "Father," He nodded by way of greeting. "I am concerned. All of my siblings, or nearly all, have found their mates and begun their families. But I have not. I have...met a female, and she is calm and respectful and sweet and caring, and I should want the world for her...but...It is hard to explain...She does not know who I am." His brow wrinkled. "You might think me crazy, but I dreamt of her before we even met. We spoke, and were acquainted, and in the morning, I remembered as it were real, but she did not. She is exactly as in my dream though. And...this is not the first time I have seen others in my dreams." This was all so confusing...he knew his dreams were strange, unusual, but now they'd begun to concern a lioness of interest to him. He couldn't expect his father to know, but maybe...

The brown lion nodded, not finding any of it 'strange', really. From the sounds of it, Feid had inherited the gift Codail and Muscail bore. "I do not think you crazy, Feidhlim. Simply gifted. Your Mother and aunt bear a similar gift, though theirs takes a different form." He frowned slightly. "It must be hard, though. To know others before you meet them in the flesh. And it sounds like the female you've come across is wonderful."

He was a bit surprised to hear both his mother and her sister also had strange visions. Were theirs in dreams too? He didn't ask. It didn't matter. He was not some oddball for this, at least, and he felt terribly more at ease. "Yes. I'm afraid I will say something they think I should not know about them, something I learned in a dream. I do not want to scare anyone...And yes. She is wonderful. Beautiful, and kind...I've looked for her though, and I fear she may be from out of the pride. I've seen no one like her here...unless she is even more shy in real life than I dreamt." He hadn't thought of that. She could be right under his nose! He'd have to look harder.

"That is quite a dilemma." Though he respected those in the pride with the Sight...he himself was glad he did not bear it. It seemed too great a burden. He smiled at Feid though. "She does sound wonderful. Perhaps...she just hasn't arrived here yet. We do get the occasional rogue within our mists, and some of them have joined."

"True, true. I felt like she was a member...she was chasing a cub. Like...like a minder would. Hmm." Well whatever she was, he hoped he'd meet her again, for real, soon. For some reason he felt drawn to her, almost obsessed...Who was this mystery lioness that haunted his dreams at night and plagued his mind by day?
He sighed. "When you fell in love, how did you know? What did it feel like?" He wasn't sure this was what that was yet...but he had an inkling. Better to know than to be unaware.

"Perhaps she'll join your mother among the ranks of the Sheperds than." If that happened...perhaps there would be an increase in the cubs of the pride. Many of those who had once been cubs were grown or nearly grown now.
"Love...ah, it is hard to pinpoint that. In a way, I've loved your mother since I was a cub. But...when I knew? Shortly after I arrived here, actually. I realized that...if nothing else, I wanted to wake up to see her every day. That her being happy made me happy."

Feid sighed and nodded. He could only hope and dream she would find their pride, if she hadn't already. What serendipity it would be if she was a shepherd too. They could live and work together, if she'd have him. The thought was so wonderful he nearly wept.
"Then I suppose I'll just have to wait. Sooner or later I'll know for sure, right?" He paused a half-moment and then gave his father a small nuzzle. Biological he might not be, and Feid was an adult, true, but he cared for the older male and he cherished him for the joy he gave to his mother. And for his advice and well wishes.
"I've to go to tend the cubs...thank you though. You've given me hope, and patience." With a final nod of gratitude he rose and left, heart both heavy and soaring.
