Today was the day! Dormin had finally shaken loose of her pride, in a fashion, and gone right out into the rogue lands. She didn't intend to be gone too long, of course. Maybe a day or two, a week if she felt like it. Stretching her paws and seeing more of the world would be good for them all. It'd get rid of some of her excess energy (which would take the edge off her temper, something everyone would like) and she could report back anything she heard or saw. The patrols were nice, but only went so far...she'd find out what was going on outside the pride!

Excited and enjoying herself for the first time in a long while, she ambled through the long grass at ease. No one was around, but that was okay. She'd find other things to be interested in. Like those little animals over there! was that a hare? She'd go see...

...Hours later, having still seen no one, her good mood was gone. Her head hung low and a snarl curled her lips...This was NOT as fun as she'd anticipated!

Dysi loved being a parent, it was one of the best experiences in his life, but sometimes having cubs was a bit of a problem, because he simply couldnt' wander as often as he'd like. Thankfully, there were nanny's within his pride, and that allowed him some freedom of wandering. He sighed, and kept his pace fast. He shouldn't have been out this long, but he didn't want to turn back, not yet. His elder girls would watch out for the youngers, at least a little, so he was not afraid of leaving them too long but still, it was worth the worry for a chance to finally move.

He hummed -badly, as the leopard was anything but musical - as he walked, enjoying the rhythmic thuds of his paws on the ground, and a slight smile was twisted on his face.

What was better than walking? He didn't know, but he hadn't seen anyone around for most of his walk. Which was odd. Usually he stumbled across others often, but this walk was almost...lonely.

He began to make more of a conscious effor to scan the surroundings, hoping to spot someone to make the walk a little more interesting. He was a rather social creature, afterall.

She was so caught up in how upset she was to have seen no one that she nearly missed him at first. He was shockingly white, but lower to the ground than her; he parted the grass like some fish in water. She knew what leopards were, certainly, but shed never met a rogue one before. Of course his coloring made her think back to the unpleasant encounter with the male before, and also the nicer time she'd had with the pale lioness. Were most rogues this pale? Hmm. How would they know who they were related to then?

That was a silly thing to wonder at, and she shoved the idea away.

She slowed her pace and eyed the fellow. Surely he'd seen her, and she lashed her tail eagerly. For someone like her, it was never bad to meet someone new. If he was nice, she'd be nice. If he was mean? Well she could get rid of some of this pent up energy! She flexed at the thought. The last fight had left her with some faded scars on her perfect green pelt. That part at least she wasn't eager to repeat. Better see if he'd play nice first.

"Hello!" She called to him.

Now that he was actually paying attention, it was rather hard to miss the brightly coloured lioness, and he visibly perked up. Ah, company! He cried inwardly, pleased to find someone else to share some time with, even if it would only be for a short while. When she seemed to slow her pace, he drew to a stop so that he was not far from her, but not crowding in on her. He had learnt to be cautious after years of wandering, though he was not afraid to approach people, he just knew better than to outright barrel into their space.

"Hello,"
he called back, a smile working across his face. "Nice day for a walk?" He sounded politely interested, but the smile on his face was more friendly than polite. No one could say the leopard was not a friendly creature, afterall. It tested the waters as well, on how she would reply. If she was unfriendly, he could still move on without being rude.

Hm. Well he'd perked up when he'd seen her. Usually mean people didn't do that. He seemed cautious, which was also a good sign. Someone out to start trouble usually knew where things were gonna end up, and wasted no time...from what she'd been taught, at least. This fellow though, he seemed alright.

"Nice enough, I suppose. Not many folks around though. Kind of borin'." She frowned and shrugged as if this was no big deal even though just moments before she'd been growling over the prospect of a walk alone. "But I s'pose that's no big deal now. What's your name, guy? I'm Dormin, from the M-...from...well around." No need to give the pride's name, right? Just in case he was a bad guy who was extra good at hiding it, he wouldn't know she was out to stop his ilk.

Dysi tilted his head slightly at the female, the smile staying on his face as she spoke. "No, there don't seem to be many people around today. Perhaps something is happening that we're not aware of?" It was said as a joke, though it was a poor one but the leopard was not well known for a good sense of timing or humor. He seemed to notice her pause, and her correction of whatever it was she was going to say, not giving away details and he inclinded his head.

"Dormin? A pleasure to meet you,"
he told her, quite honestly and flashed another smile. "My name is Dysini'mbus, but it's far easier to call me Dysi. I am from around as well, but not the around near here, a fair while back the way I came." It was a rather odd way of saying he was just passing through the lands and that he had somewhere else that he usually was.

He didn't seem put off by her lack of information, which comforted her. She thought he'd pick out for sure that she was from a pride by her non-rogue-ish ways...but he'd done the same. A general lack of willingness to share all your details must be normal when you never knew just who you were chatting up. "You think so? Like what," she chuckled, "A meeting of rogues from far and wide? If so, it'd seem more like the rogue lands were a pride than a bunch of individuals. Irony, huh?"

"Dysi. I see. Well you're the first leopard I've met in a while. Though it seems like all I'm meeting lately are pale critters. At least you've got some nice spots, huh?" She chortled. "So what's this area like, huh? Gotta say, I'm new to this, er, region. I'd ask if you come here often, but that seems a bit overdone..."

Dysi laughed at her comment, amused at the idea and pleased to find that she had a sense of humor. This meeting would have been very boring if she had not, he realised, already enjoying her presence. "Ah, well," Dysi chuckled, voice almost a giggle, "That would be rather silly. Perhaps there's a more likely conclusion. We were simply meant to meet each other, rather than random rogues," he suggested, with a joking wink, though he was partially serious. The male did believe in fate, which meant he did actually some-what believe his words.

He looked amused and shrugged, "to be honest, I am new to this region as well. Haven't passed through here before. From what I can gather, it seems a rather bland place, with the occassional interesting sight though" Dysi would deny looking straight at her when he said those words. "Were you looking to seek out anything particular?" He asked, thinking back to whether he had seen a watering hole or not recently, if she was after food or water, he would be happy to help out.

She shrugged. Never one to believe in fate she couldn't control or at least have a say in, she was fairly sure it hadn't been 'destiny' that they'd met up. Still, he was fairly amusing, and she smiled back when he winked. A sense of humor was always good.

Aha, so he didn't know the area either. Figures. What were the odds of her wandering into the one patch of roguelands that were even MORE boring than her home pride? Apparently pretty high. "Me, interesting? Heh. Probably the most interesting thing you'll see all week." She flipped her hair and lashed her tail. She did have an ego, true enough. "As for what I was looking for, eh. Adventure, I suppose. There's nothing exciting going on at home, so I figured eh! Might as well go see some of the world, right? Meet some interesting characters?" And now it was her turn to eye him pointedly.

Dysi smiled at her comment, and didn't deny it. She would likely be the most interesting thing he saw all week. Her coat was stunning, the bright colours standing out and certainly catching his eye, and her personality was certainly not one to scoff at. She was definitely an interesting feature in this landscape, and he was very pleased to have stumbled across her.

He tilted his head to the side, ignoring the burning question to ask where 'home' was for her, but he had noticed her lack of details earlier and thought it perhaps rude to ask. "Interesting? Me?" He repeated, a half smile on his face, jokingly batting his eye lashes - which were admittedly slightly more feminine than should have been, as he was a male leopard. "I do hope you mean that in a good way, or you may crush my fragile ego." Again, he was joking, but she seemed like she could use a fun, relaxing day. You didn't always need adventure to have a good time, after-all.

Hmph. Why was he looking at her like that? It kinda reminded her of the pale lion, which got her right on edge...but at least THIS fellow had it in the right and was praising her, not belittling her. She knew she was a catch. And feminine eyes or no, he'd piqued her interest.

"Sure a good way. If you were boring I'd be long gone by now." On a whim she decided to go for it. Why not? She had no doubt in her own attractiveness, but since that one male she'd had a nagging doubt. She was strong, right? She was smart too, AND good looking. What male wouldn't enjoy her company? If Dysi did, she'd feel vindicated again.

"But you must think I'm interesting, right? I mean, why else would such a...handsome leopard," Okay so she wasn't the best at complimenting, "Be wasting his day with me, hm? Now be careful how you answer...my ego isn't fragile, but it gets cranky oh so easily..."
PostPosted: Mon Sep 06, 2010 5:05 am

Dysi was rather amused by her bluntness, but it was a good thing. Too many people didn't say what they meant and didn't mean what they say, and Dysi was often one of them. It was refreshing to meet someone who just said it.

“I wouldn't dare insult your ego,” Dysi responded, pleased at her compliment. Were they flirting now? Dysi was not the best at flirting. He tended to come off very feminine or look ridiculous while flirting. He hoped he wouldn't scare away with his bad woo'ing techniques. “Trust me, if I didn't find you interesting-” he tried to purr the word, but was not sure if he succeeded “-I would be making polite excuses to leave right now.”

He tilted his head to the side, and flashed her a smile. “And I certainly wouldn't think of my day as being wasted. I think any time with you would be time well spent.” Too bold? He wasn't sure he cared at the moment. He was watching her closely, to see how she would respond.

Aha! Well that went well. Dormin had to admit, she liked a male that could play along with her prodding and semi-playful banter. And he was good at complimenting. Really good. The surest way to her heart had always been through her ears...

Alright, alright. He'd worked hard enough, and she rewarded him with a matching toothy grin. "That so? Well, seeing as it's just terribly-interesting you and fascinating me around, it's good that we get along." She lashed her tail and took one more step towards him, partially closing the gap between.

"You got any other plans for the day, or can I steal you away? Such a well-worded fella...I'm inclined to try to keep you all to myself!"
