Nene'jani - Manda
&
Kir - Das Tor

It was such a lovely day today! The sun was shining, birds were singing, there was a nice little breeze that kept it from being too hot out... and 'Jani was busy doing one of his favorite things in the world! Talking to all of his friends. Currently, the largish green male was sitting on his rump holding a -very- engaging conversation with a tree and a little collection of rocks nearby. Anyone watching might assume he was talking to some other creature down in the grass, by the way he was focused and gestured animatedly with his paws. Except for the fact that there was -never- any response to his questions and babble. Not that the supposed watcher could hear anyway. Whenever 'Jani paused for a moment, he started talking about soon after just as if someone else had replied to him.

Another creature was enjoying the nice day, taking in the sights and scents. Kir wasn't traveling with anyone...but for the moment, she didn't need anyone. She was quite happy trotting forward, stepping around anything that got in her way, and stopping occasionally to smell the flowers around and admire the song of a particularly talented bird. Mmmm...such a lovely day indeed! Though...Huh. She blinked and looked about. It sounded like someone was talking. The green lioness finally found the source, and tilted her head, curious.

What an odd male. Was he talking to the tree? Obviously, he had to speak tree, since he seemed to be holding a conversation with it. She trotted over, then sat nearby, smiling, waiting....After all, it wasn't nice to interrupt!

It took 'Jani several moments to even notice anyone else was there. And when he did, the male turned and blinked slightly at the femme sitting there. Oh, she looked nice! "Hello!" he greeted her happily, waving a paw about in the air. "How long were you sitting there? Sorry I didn't notice before!"

Kir giggled and shook her head. "Oh no worries. I didn't want to interrupt! You seemed to be having such a nice conversation!" She puffed up a bit proudly. "And my Mother taught me good manners." Sometimes. Usually. "My name is Kir! And what is yours? And your friends." Obviously, they had to be his friends if he was talking with them so spiritedly!

The green male blinked for a moment, then grinned. She actually understood!! All of his life, he'd been seen as stranger or made fun of for talking to things. But now this femme was asking their names! It was wonderful! Puffing up a bit in return, he answered, "Well, I'm Nene'jani and these guys..." He pointed to each object in turn, citing the names he had given them earlier. Because, well. Usually things didn't even -know- their names til he told them.

Kir listened intently, hoping she might hear a 'hi' or 'hello' from the objects. After all....the other feline seemed to hear them just fine! But alas...she heard nothing. "Well...it is very nice to meet you all!" Perhaps....maybe she could figure out what they were saying by what Nene'jani said? Maybe. She hoped. She looked to the other green feline. "And it's very nice to meet another lion that's green!"

'Jani smiled happily at that. She could hear them!! This was great! "Oh, have you not met too many who are green?" he asked, tilting his head. "A lot of my siblings have green on them, but I've got the -most-!"

Kir shook her head. "Other than my mother, I've never really met anyone with much green on them. I was an only cub, so no siblings to be green with." She pouted. "And it seems there aren't many other green lions out there. It's...well, VERY depressing!" It really was.

"Aww, that really is depressing! I have a big family but I haven't seen any of them in a while," 'Jani mused quietly, staring off into space. Then he turned toward the tree with an expression of surpise. "Oh? Really? You saw someone that looked like me a while ago?"

Kir blinked, tilting her head curiously again. "Really? Perhaps they were a relative of yours, Nene'jani!" Yes, yes....If the conversation kept up like this, perhaps she could keep up! Maybe she'd even figure out how he heard them! (It never entered her mind, poor dear, that he might just be hearing things.)

"Maybe it was!" he replied with a quick little nod. "What did they look like?" This, to the tree again. Then he looked down at the pile of rocks. "Oh, you saw too? Well everyone describe this lion and maybe I can figure out who it was," he said, laughing.

Kir sat, trying to listen intently. She wanted to know what they'd saw! Maybe his mother or father? Or a sibling? Or maybe an aunt or uncle! She'd heard of such things, though never had she had any!

"Ooh, yea," 'Jani said after a moment or two. "I think maybe that could've been Kavu...." He bobbed his head once or twice. "Wonder what he was doing way over here..."

Kir nodded. "Is Kavu one of your siblings?" If so....oooh! Perhaps she could meet yet ANOTHER green lion! Oh that would be most wonderful indeed! She did so miss having another green feline around, even for a short time.

"Yup!" 'Jani replied with a grin. "I dunno what he was doing here. Maaan I haven't seen him in a long time. Not since we played together when we were cubs..."

Kir looked thoughtful a moment. "Perhaps...he was in search of you? Or someone else?" She giggled. "Or he could have simply been passing by, like myself."

"Maybe!" 'Jani said with a nod. The green male really loved his family, even though some of them were mean. And some of them made fun of him, among other things. It didnt' really matter... that was just how they were. Wasn't their fault they were born like that! He could love them either way.

Kir stood, a grin on her muzzle. "Why don't we go looking for him! It would be all sorts of fun! An adventure that we could tell to your friends when we come this way again!" She looked to the objects mentioned. "Unless, of course, any of you would like to come along." She paused a moment. "Well....the smaller ones, anyways. A lion can only carry so much, sadly."

'Jani grinned at that, so very pleased she was talking to them too. He cocked his head to one side, listening for a moment. "Oh, yea that's true... this place is really nice and there's no telling when we might come back. So maybe we'll see you again later!" Turning back to Kir, he nodded decisively. "Okay! Let's go see if we can find Kavu! Or anyone interesting really~"

Kir nodded cheerfully. "Yes! We're certain to come across one or the other!" And maybe, just maybe, she'd learn how to hear what he did. It...was no fun knowing only half the conversation! But she wouldn't give up! She'd stick to Jani until she learned!

The green male nodded at that and set off at a jaunty sort of pace, heading into the grassier part of the plains. "So, Kir! What all kinds of things do you like to do?" he asked, looking over at her as they walked.
