so, this year is my first year being an official captain. last year i had to clean the flag routine at the end of the year cuz the flag captain had to be moved to rifle (cuz we only had like 7 people at that point) but by that time, most everyone already knew it and i just had to do the nit-picky type stuff. this year i'm basically the flag captain, and my whole entire line is newbies. 3 of them did one year at the middle school, and theres also 4 brand-new people. (all with varying degrees of being naturals) usually there is at least one other non-newbie on each line, but they're all on rifle...
one of the brand-newbies is...different. like, i don't wanna offend anyone, but idk if she's "all there". she like, doesn't speak. at all. to me anyways. and even though we've taught the work and gone over it bunches of times, she can't remember any of it, and just watches everyone else (who can remember most of it) and so she's constantly at least a whole count behind, and only does about half the work anyways. it doesn't help that she missed the first day of guard camp, and then had to sit out for a bit of the 3rd/last day. so now i gotta have a one-on-one sectional with her. i asked my instructor and she said it only had to be like 45 minutes or an hour and just get as much done as i could, but idk how much i can do cuz i have no idea how to teach her or get her to remember work. and since she doesn't talk to me, she doesn't ask questions, or tell me what she doesn't understand. i ask if she has it and she just nods, but then its obvious she doesn't have it.
sorry thats such a long post, but doesn't anyone have any advice for me? like different ways of teaching work or any experience with people who need different kinds of help with work??
