Quint sat where the shore met the water with his knees drawn up to his chest. Instead of his usual ensemble that was filled with belts, boots, and other shiny things he just wore a simple pair of black swim trunks with some white lines along them. They trunks were simple and suited his knees. He had been watching the surfers out in the water, he had taken a couple of pictures of them with the waterproof camera he had bought at the pharmacy but somehow just taking the pictures didn't feel like it was enough. He actually wanted to be much more involved in the process doing everything from snapping the image to working in a dark room. He just wanted...Needed someone to teach him but who?
Oh well.
He flicked his thumb over the nose and watched as the water ran up to meet his feet and for now he was calm and ...happy. There was no one but himself to worry about. There was no one around to tell him that he wasn't being social enough or to tell him that he needed a girlfriend and there was no one to call him 'Princess' just because he took an extra couple of god damn minutes to look presentable. Quint could be Quint and no one cared about that.
Yes, it was quiet times like these that he really enjoyed...
Well, quiet other than the others on the beach but they were of little consequence.

"You're gonna drown yourself kid!" Her mother's careless warnings didn't even make it to her ears before the kid tripped on the sand and face planted into the water. The small girl rolled over on to her water logged butt and started tearing up a bit. Attempts to rise from her rump failed, her sari that was wrapped around her in the form of a dress weighing 5 times more than normal. Talic cracked up at Vinaya's desperate, flailing battle to balance. The blond didn't rush to rescue her. She was pretty positive that a foot of water wasn't going to viciously maul the child before she got there.
Vinaya disagreed greatly. The water was making her cold, she couldn't get up, and there was sand in her sari. "Nooooo!" Her crocodile tears soon erupted in an effort her speed up her mother's rescue. It failed. She tried to get up again, but one more failed attempt meant she could do nothing but make her detest more loudly vocalized.

Quint blinked and drew out of his happy little world of half-assed solitude and quiet and gazed around himself as if suddenly not realizing where he was before he then started to look for the source of the disturbance only to see a small girl wailing as if someone had just slapped her around or something. He uttered a small sigh and waited a moment for the parent to get up and attend to the child but no one seemed to be rushing over.
...What the hell was it with parents leaving their kids unattended these days?
He shifted a bit and stood up as he approached the distressed little girl and knelt a small distance away, "Hey, hey girlie!" he tried to catch her attention hoping his voice cut through the tantrum she was currently enveloped in.
