Kifaranga was happily fed and nursing her three perfect cubs. Yes they were smaller then Thuraya's but according to her mother this is how cubs were born on her side of the family. And if her mother was right they weren't soft either they would be rough and tumble cubs with no fear. She was actually happy to be caring on this trait. Though it made detection harder it seemed birth would have been easy he she had been as well fed and rested as Thuraya.

Kifa looked over to her sister and the many cubs she had given birth to and gave a smile. She was so happy to be sharing this experience with her. They took turns sleeping so the cubs would never not have an eye on them, but at the same time it could get lonely during the day. She looked towards the den entrance hoping to see either Amara or more preferably Kwea.

Kwea padded in to the den just at that moment, his bloody red head held high. He was very pleased with himself and having completed his rounds he was ready for a rest beside his Banu. He still worried about Kifa and Kifas cubs but he hadn't had a chance to speak to her about it yet, she had been so tired, but he knew she was fed and rested now so he would ask her about the three little bundles whom were wonderful surprises.

A smile lit his face when he saw that Kifa was awake and he glanced at Thuraya too, she seemed to be sleeping her five cubs either suckling or sleeping too. It was a happy atmosphere.

Moving towards Kifa he lay down behind her shuffling forwards so that he could prop her against his large comfortable body and wrap his large maned head around her shoulders, his chin virtually on her elbow so he could look at the three tiny cubs.

"They are beautiful Kifa." he whispers smiling lovingly at the three tiny bundles, they were so small, and they looked even tinier thanks to their overly large paws. A sigh broke his voice though and he lifted his head slightly to nuzzle Kifas ear. "I am slightly worried Kifa, they are so small. I don't understand." he whispers, the fear for the tiny cubs evident in his strained voice. He didn't want to lose the little litter just as it had started to be real to him.

Kifa grinned as he walked into the den looking so proud. "Wishes do come true I was hoping you would be back soon." She purred to him careful not to raise her voice and wake Thuraya.

Kifa cuddled into Kwea and watched as he looked at the cubs. She smiled feeling so proud that she had given Kwea cubs to be proud of and each were healthy she knew it but how tight they would latch onto her.

She gave Kwea a worried looks as he sighed, had he wanted more boys or something? Kifa then smiled and laughed a bit at Kwea's remark. "They're supposed to be that way Kwea. It runs in my family. We're born small then grow huge. Least that's what my mother has always told me. As she described me I looked just like them when I was born. I wouldn't be surprised if little Nuri grew larger then you actually. Males on my mother's side are huge, you're lucky my uncles weren't around when you caught me." Kifa said nudging him a little to let him know she was joking. "Im sure you could have taken them though my pad." Kifa said giving him a lick. "Do not worry you could never have weak offspring in you lines. If they are anything like me and my siblings were they will be the death of you if you worry to much." Kifa said this with great honesty. She was a trouble maker as a cub to...only more so if one could believe it.

Her jibe hurt him a little, he was a strong pad, a big pad but when she licked him and fluffed his ego once again he smiled and grumbled a little nipping her cheek as a slight rebuke. He didn't want to hear such things as this and she should know better, even as a joke.

His frown remained on his brow as he looked down at the little cubs, they seemed active enough, hungry, he could even see that their little stomachs were full of milk, round and soft. He could but accept what she said as the truth but he was still worried about them. "If you are sure Kifa. They are just so tiny, Thurayas cubs are larger and she, wells he is a lot smaller than you my love." He looks the rainbow eyed lioness in the eyes a look of pure concern flashing in his own blood red ones.

"Just promise me they will be okay. They are mine, I want them to be okay." He smiles a smile he doubted he had ever used to Kifa before, a smile of pure concern, of love, of something paternal, he loved the three little tiny big footed babies already if they should die, if they vanished before he god to speak to each of them and tell them what he thought of them, he knew a part of his heart would break. It was odd, he knew, to think like this, but he had felt similarly about Amaras cubs, even though they weren't his and now his own were here well that instinct had kicked in once again and all he wanted to do was make sure that his babies would be safe, sound loved and healthy.

Kifa frowned realizing the joke had not gone over to well with him. "I'm sorry Kwea, it was only a joke, I've felt your strength first hand you could take on a herd of elephants." She said giving him a lick on the nose. "I will not make such jokes again."

Kifaranga looked at Thuraya's cubs they were indeed bigger, but the only thing that brought a frown to her face was thinking about what Kwea said. Thuraya was just an adolescent and yet she had more cubs, that bothered Kifa a bit, but not to much. "Yes, but think of it this way if things go as my mother described and they do get bigger then its healthier for me. Imagine if I had been rested and well fed like Thuraya birthing would have been nothing. I'm confident in what my mother told me we're born small then grow tall. Adolescent is when she said we had our growth spurts." Kifa said revisiting the night she had had and interesting version of the birds and the bees told to her.

"I promise Kwea. Why just today I saw your little piglet of a boy Nuri shove Odelette away from one of the faster flowing milk areas, but then she nudged him back. Weak cubs could not do this my love. At least I assume they couldn't." Kifa admitted seeing as she hadn't been around newborns much before.

Kwea smiles, just a slight, quirk of a smile. He liked that she no longer really spoke wistfully of her ex-home any more, she spoke joyfully of being in his harem and even more so about their cubs, he could see the smile in her eyes and hear the tune in her voice.

The big white male laughed. "I see, yes my boy would try that out wouldn't he? He should know better than to try and dislodge a female from her meal." He nuzzles Kifas cheek softly. "I am very proud of you Kifa, but I think we need to be cautious, they may fall and hurt themselves, or something worse." He realised as he said this that he had certainly become a worrying father, an over worried father in fact but Kifas cubs were just, just so small he felt a little twinge in his heart imagining them fall and hurt themselves.

"I trust you Kifa, I do, I think I may be a worrying father." he smiled an almost sheepish smile, something which he had never done before, he never felt awkward or sheepish, he always felt confident, it was just with the new cubs he felt afraid for them. It was very odd.

"Will you sing us a lullaby Kifa?" He whispers nuzzling her ears lovingly.

It was true Kifa didn't really miss her old home anymore, she only missed her family there. Wished she could see them and that they could see the cubs. What she wouldn't give for her mother to see this, but that was impossible either way she had pasted on when she was still a very young adult. And her father had never been a stable figure he would appear every now and again, but she didn't know him well. Her siblings though she missed the most followed by other family members.

Kifaranga giggles at Kwea's comment. "I'm betting he will be a handful. Not so sure about the girls yet though, I'm sure they will be perfect banu with help from you though Kwea. Promise me you will pick good pads that won't abuse them Kwea? I know they have to stay in line but....I've heard of some pads that are mean just cause they feel like it." Kifa gives him a concerned look she did not wish for her daughters to go to someone they would be unhappy with.

"Its alright to worry, I worry to ,but its also my job to give them confidence and not squeal every time they get a bump of a scratch. They will fall and get hurt Kwea its a part of growing up strong. Its our job to make sure they don't fall to far and they have someone to pick them up and dust them off afterward." Kifa smiled at him she could tell his worry was real.

"Of course my love." Kifaranga purred as she thought over what she could sing for them. "This one might not make sense, but I used to like it as a cub." Kifa cleared her throat. "Great Grandfather met Great Grandmother when she was a shy young miss and Great Grandfather won Great Grandmother with words more or less like this.

Lavender's blue, dilly dilly, lavender's green,
If I were king, dilly, dilly, I would need a queen.
Who told you so, dilly, dilly, who told you so?
'Twas my own heart, dilly, dilly, that told me so.

Lavender's green, dilly, dilly, Lavender's blue,
If you love me, dilly, dilly, I will love you.
Let the birds sing, dilly, dilly, And the lambs play;
We shall be safe, dilly, dilly, out of harm's way.

I love to dance, dilly, dilly, I love to sing;
If I were king, dilly, dilly, You'd be my queen.
Who told me so, dilly, dilly, Who told me so?
I told myself, dilly, dilly, I told me so." Kifa purred loud it felt so good to sing again for her pad and now their cubs.

Kwea smiles at Kifa. 'I would not let anyone hurt our daughters Kifa." He licks her ears gently, nuzzling her cheek. It was the truth, although he knew that he himself, was a particular pad, not afraid to strike a female, he would not with that upon his own flesh and blood. having children, having his OWN children had certainly changes his perception on life as he knew it.

He laughs lightly at her assessment of letting them grow up with a few falls. "I suppose you are right Kifa. I think perhaps I am a worry-some father?" He smiles and chuckles grooming Kifas ears.

Closing his blood red eyes, the big pale male sighed gently. "That was beautiful Kifa." He smiles resting his head on her shoulders once again, his breathing become gentle and content. "It's so nice to hear you sing again my song bird."

"Thank you Kwea." Kifa purred in reply to what he said. She would raise the girls to be good banu so their pad would never have a reason to be mad at them anyways.

"I like that Kwea it shows you really care for the cubs and their well being. There have been males I've seen that don't worry about their cubs and I'm glad you aren't one of them. Just don't make yourself sick over it. That can happen you know." Kifa licked him trying to reassure him of any worry he might have.

"I'm glad you liked it Kwea." Kifa could see he was getting tired. She turned herself slightly and started groom him mane. Even though she used to think he was lazy it was obvious the the pride's lands were large and hot to walk. She wanted to do something for him even though she wasn't up to doing much at all.

The big pale male smiles calmly allowing the beautiful bird like female to groom his blood red mane. "I am very proud of you Kifa, do you know that?" He smiles a sort of crooked handsome smile his deep red eyes smiling down.

He sighs lightly resting his chin on her shoulder and closing his eyes. "I know you'll be a good mother and raise our children right Kifa." The big male smiles in a pleased manner, as far as he was concerned nothing could be better, he was young, healthy surrounded by beautiful women and best of all, he was finally a father.

Kifa's purr got loud as he said he was proud of her, at this moment she felt very at peace. "No, I did not know until you told me." Kifaranga was being honest she never really felt like she knew what he was thinking.

"I won't let you down my love." Kifa purred for once using a title other then his name or his title. She cuddled up against Kwea leaning her head on him. "I'm sorry I've caused so much trouble for you. I'm sorry, I'm not like Amara..." She wasn't trying to start anything she meant it at this moment. Kifa wished she could be well behaved like Amara was, and in charge like Amara. It was silly but she was still a bit jealous even though she knew she was not beybanu material.
