I'm thinking of working with the Fae. But I've heard so many different things about them.
On the one hand, from others on Gaia, I've heard the fae are mean, nasty little creatures who will turn your life (and household) upside-down if you work with them.
But in books and oracles, I hear that there's no issue to working with them (As long a proper respect is given, as with every other astral creature)
So I'm a bit scared to work with them.
Advice or suggestions?

It can go both ways. Not all fae are mean and nasty but there are quite a few out there. There are also things you can do to ward off the darker fae. They say hanging a horseshoe over your doorway will protect you from fae trying to do any harm. You can also plant certain things in your garden to attract the nicer fae as well as ward of the darker. Respect is a large thing to them though, if you don't show them respect they will often just not come to you period but if you disrespect them you better watch out.
In the end though if you aren't feeling connected to the fae it may be time to learn about them before you try to contact them. Let yourself get connected with them in a way before you start focusing on doing work with them.

yea ive heard the same thing. but what ive wondered is on the web and in books they tell you that there are things you can do to attract them but ive also heard that they get very offended by that. its kinda confusing and i want to show them that they can trust me but i dont want to offend them?

Well I was little when I had my first interaction with the fae and honestly I just left honey out for them everynight and whispered sunlight fades stars appear garden faeries gather here. I think what may have caught their attention to me though was my complete and unyielding belief in them, I whole heartedly believed in them before I received any kind of contact. And other than that I'd say I was just lucky to have the connection I do. If you feel you would like to call the faeries to you then by all means look up different ways and as long as you have pure intents and are meaning to respect them they will understand your intent.

okay! thanks! and as to the Sight? i thought the only way you could have it was to be born with it? or they allow you to see them? in books like The Faerie Queen's Deception (book) it says some things can give it to you like 4 leaf clovers but i didnt know if it was real? but i still find myself searching for clovers! XD

I'm curious as well. I've never heard of a spell/ritual to gain sight.

Its said that any medicine from faerie will give you the sight. There are stories of changlings becoming sick and the fay giving their mothers or nurses or other caretakers an ointment with specific instructions not to get it into their eyes, but maybe on purpose because they were curious or maybe by accident the ointment would get into the human's eyes and they would get the sight. Inevitably faeries would find out and scratch the inflicted eye from their head, assuming the medicine only got in one eye.
I did find a spell once for giving yourself the sight, I remember you have to find a solidly clear crystal with no clouds in it and look through it, but I can't remember the spell. I did it but only had the sight for the duration of yule two years ago. *shudder* I saw some scary things.

Klepto- That's one thing that I've always been worried about and been warned by family regarding sight. The fact that they tell me you see some very scary things.

It's because people expect faeries to all be pretty and happy and tiny, flying around with wings and giggling... Most of them aren't. The only fay I know of in Irish mythology that are like that are the ones at the bottom of the garden.

The stereo types are hard to get through, most people think of Tinkerbell when they think of faeries. There is a potion that you can make and smear on your eyes for a night but it doesn't sound like something I'd actually like to rub on my eyes at all....I can't remember where it is though, I think it's in one of my books or online.

It takes time to make the fae trust you but by doing little things to attract them you can gain their trust. I'm not going to search out the ointment because I think it'll do more harm than help but you are more than welcome to find it. Just google potion for faerie sight or something.
