Miki smiled and leaned her head down and set her book dowk on the ground. Nosing her way through the old stiff pages she found the picture she was looking for. A swamp monster! A few days a go when her aunt had given her the picture book of monster she had flipped through it and found the image of a swamp and been fasincated. Her aunt had informed her that there was indeed one not to far away.
And so this day had been planned. Her father had moved out the day before and left her the cave as her own home and she was free to do what she wished. That wish was to find monsters. They were so interesting, all the stories and myths and the way they were shown to look and how people said they acted. So awesome.
Shaking her head to clear her rambling thoughts, Miki nosed the book close and lifted it tucking it between the two of her largest trees on her back. Turning then she headed off toward the swamp lands. When she finally reached them she wrinkled her nose and tried ignore the smell as she did a little dance. This was gonna be so great and even better if she found a monster. The swamp looked so cool all watery and things hangy from all the trees giving the place a spooky and dark look.

Jarl was wondering out in the swamp today, looking for some mushrooms to nibble on. He'd paused amongst the weeds and cattails that lines the banks of the streams and creaks that ran through the swamp, his eyes watching a rather large lizard in the distance. He was muttering quietly to himself about how the gators were bringing in a bad influence and the whole swamp was just going downhill.
He'd failed to notice the mare walking about the swamp, his mind lost in his own irrational train of thoughts.

Miki giggled softly making her way through the swamp. She was certain she was going to find some sort of swamp monster and it would be awesome. Her eyes always searching both the waters around her and the horizon for any signs of monsters or danger she at first didn't notice the stallion wander around in the swamps along long with her. But rather she saw a water snake slicing through the water a few feet away from her. Growling low in her throat she lowered her head for moment pointing her horns at the snake then quickly changed her mind.
Rearing up the mare perpared to stomp down into the water when she finally noticed the stallion moving around. Her eye widened and she let out happy laugh as she crashed down into the water. " SWAMP MONSTER!"

The kelpi stallion looked up, then around the area. He'd heard someone shout about a monster. That was just silly, there were no monsters here. Perhaps a giant gator or a random soquili wearing a dead animal....but certainly not a monster.
Jarl found who was shouting, then shook his head. "If yo keep splashing like that, the gators will be attracted to you. It's all fun and games until someone loses a hoof...then it's just a game...find the hoof...."

Blinking Miki looked over to the stallion." Hi mister swamp monster! Don't be silly there aren't any gator around here! I've been very careful watching for them, it was a snake I splashed it away!" Smiling Miki danced through the water toward the stallion.
Getting closer she frowned softly." Aw your not a swamp monster.. your a..a Kelpi!" Huffing softly she tossed her head to get her bangs out of eyes. " I was looking for swamp monsters and your just not one!"

"There's no monsters in this swamp...save the random oversized gator," Jarl explained, glancing toward the gator he'd been watching earlier. It was out of site now, so he returned his gaze back to the mare. "Sometimes one of those strange soquili that wear dead animals passes through. And sometimes, there's a fireball....but no monsters."

" Aww are you sure? My book says there might be monster here. Ooh like ones looks like a horse but it tempts men into the water and then it eats them! Plus I know monsters are real. My best friend is zombie and my daddy might be a demon!" Glancing around Miki frowned again. " there has to be monsters! Where else would fireballs come from? Its wet everywhere! Plus swamps are big and mysterious the monsters might be hiding!"

"The gas here makes the fireballs," Jarl shrugged. He really didn't want to argue the matter. Besides, he was hungry and he had some warm stew at home. He turned and made his way toward his 'manor.' "You can look if you like...I'm hungry and going home to eat."
He paused and cocked his head, as if hearing something. Blinking, the stallion shook his head. "No..mind your own business..."

"What lights the gases then?... Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to disturb you on the way to your meal." Blushing Miki shook her head lightly. " I'm going monster crazy again. Wha? Who are talking to mister?" Looking around Miki dipped her head down to look under the stallion. " Do you have a familiar your talking too?" Wrinkling her nose to think for a moment, the mare's eyes widened as she looked around again. " Are you talking to a ghost?!"

Jarl paused and looked at the mare, "I don't know what lights the gas...."
He glanced down when she did, then back at her. "I do not have a...familiar. I'm speaking to the voices in the swamp....when they decide to speak. They say things...sometimes...."

" Oh! Are the voices ghosts or something else?" Glancing around Miki let out a soft sigh. If the voices where ghost why couldn't she see them? Did they not like her? That would totally suck if she couldn't see them." Do they talk to you alot? Do they talk to any one else?"

The stallion shrugged, not really knowing how to answer the bombardment of questions. He looked toward his home, "You should eat. I have stew at home."

" are you inviting me to eat with you?" Miki giggled once again tilting her head questioningly. " Stew? isn't that hard to make with out a two legger? Whats in it? I like fish and spiders"

"I suppose I am," Jarl muttered, looking at her as if for the first time. He shrugged slightly, "A two-legger keeps coming to my manor and making sure the fire is tended to. I add in the stuff I want to cook, or...he does when I set it out. Right now I have a few spider's eyes, some gator tail, and mushrooms."
He started walking home, almost as if he forgot about her. He hummed slightly, something light hearted.

Watching the stallion for a moment Miki debated what to do before shrugging to herself. Why turn down a free meal and what could be a chance to find out more about the swamp voices. Following after the stallion, the mare shook her head gently before dancing foward to catch up with him. " Spider eyes? I can barely catch the whole spider how do you get the eyes out?"
