Part Two; Lake Ha'tooka

Well, the good news is that Iban decided to let you go. The bad news... well, he made you go in a direction of his choosing, and he followed you to make sure that you were not a threat to his mate and firmly out of his territory.

Cranky old man.

He's marched you straight from the oldest part of the forest and right to the banks of Lake Ha'tooka. It's late, you're tired, and you just want to get back to the festival.

Now, now, young one, you look exhausted. I'll let you go soon enough. I'm not quite done with you yet. You see this plant? I need it. It grows on the banks of this lake and within its waters. Some say the spirits plant it where a creature falls in battle. My mate uses it in her healing poultices and she's almost out.

Iban looks down the bridge of his face at you, eyes dark.

And whatever she wants, she gets.

Not again... maybe you should have stayed closer to the tribe instead of exploring under the safety of the festival. The herb that Iban wants you to find is known as ronata leaf, and like he mentioned is prone to growing where an adahy or di'taki has fallen in battle. He doesn't care HOW you get it... but you better bring him some back, and quickly.

Rules!
*- One response per person.
*- No, you cannot kill Iban or his mate, sorry.
*- This is an ongoing game! (Though if you miss one, you can still play in the next!) Each round lasts for a week to give everyone enough time to respond. Your reply can be a couple sentences, or it could be two pages! There is a prize to be won at the end of each round, and one big prize at the last round!
*- Iban responds to everyone. Whatever you say, you'll know if you made it or not. :D No, he's not going to kill off your pet, don't worry. Whatever happens here may influence your next round, or maybe not!
*- This is not a CYOA. You can't be "eliminated". The response that Iban feels is the most adequate will be the one that takes the prize that round.

If you don't own an adahy or di'taki of your own, feel free to respond using a made up one! This event is open to owners and non-owners alike. When responding, try not to use Iban or Menetae, though a small action thrown in is okay. Results will be announced Monday, August 16th.

If you didn't participate last time, feel free to join us now!

User ImageUsul found himself dragging his feet unhappily in front of the large Di'taki, his own Di'taki eyes of five sets staring down at the ground angrily. He'd wanted a shiny glowbug. That's all. Just one pretty to take home. Maybe ten, if he got lucky.

His tattered human bag swung from his jaws and he fought to keep going and not get distracted by all the wonderful, useful items this damned male was making him pass by. His claws itched to grab it all. He shuddered visibly and forced on.

But the male wasn't done with him. No! Why would he be? Usul was destined to have an awful night, after all. Why not continue to worsen it. He stared back defiantly at the dark male Iban and snorted after a moment, then turned and trudged down to the lake, ankle deep in the water.

Where a creature falls in battle...

His eyes scanned the area, looking for the plant Iban sought for his mate. And he saw it. There, growing between the ribs of a dried, rotting carcass, was a deep green plant with red veins, curling elegantly toward the sky. It was beautiful. Absolutely breath-taking. He wanted it.

He rushed towards the plant, grabbing in gently with a clawed hand and holding it before his eyes. His head cocked one way, then another, and he gurgled his appreciation, the sound bubbling from the back of his throat and over his tongue. This specimen was beautiful. It was precious. His claws clenched and unclenched in greedy excitement, and he slowly began to lower it to his bag. So much preciousness in that bag. So many knick-knacks and pretties. Another pretty to add. Just a little closer and he could gently drop it in.

He paused. He was here for a reason. He'd sought this plant for a reason. Slowly he turned his head to Iban and frowned, his claws worried over the stem of the plant. It was his! He'd done the work to find it! It was so precious.

But this male. He had a mate that he cared for. This was for his female. If he didn't hand over the pretty, he'd probably lose all his pretties. He looked down at his bag, worried the stem a little more, and then headed back towards Iban. He set the plant before him and averted his eyes. No pretty for him. No pretties at all today.

Damned male.

Iban's tail swats back and forth, his eyes burning into you. It is clear he has finished waiting.

“Did you find it?” Iban's eyes flicker to the herb clutched in your paw, maw tugging into a slight smile as you hand it over to him. He delicately tucks it inside a small sash at his shoulder. “I thank you, young one,” he begins, voice softer, “My mate will be most pleased.”

He pauses, ears swiveling to listen to something. “But come,” he replies, glancing to the younger di'taki, “We have further to go before you leave my domain. One more errand remains.”

As you begin to trail after the dark elder, a rustling in the brush behinds you catches your attention. Turning, you find yourself face to face with a startled adahy. Perhaps you should let him tag along?
