 Nightshade was lying down in a patch of cool clovers, letting the wind whisper over her, telling her stories about far away lands outside the swamp. In a state somewhere between awake and asleep, she listens to the world around her but does not disrupt it by making noise or moving. There was the sound of little feet pitter pattering on the ground around her. Assuming it was a band of mongeese or some foxbuns, she took no notice, leaving them to their calm demeanor.
It wasn't until one of them touched her on the hoof that she looked over, raising her head slowly. A mongoose was sitting there, it's cute little body shivering, as it was soaking wet. It looked like the poor thing had fallen in a rather deep mud puddle. With the cool breeze going by, she wasn't surprised he was freezing.
The little creature looked like it was trying to tell her that it wanted to lie down also, to bask in the warm sun that had peeked through the trees overhead. Nodding, Nightshade laid her head back down on the clovers. Glancing at the little creature again, she noticed it had markings similar to the ones on her back legs, yet they were white instead of black.
Was this a sign? Did this adorable little mongoose just happen upon her or did the motherfather grant her with a companion? Seeing that the mongoose was still shivering, Nightshade nudged it and got it's attention. Offering the spot near her neck, a rather warm place, she smiled when it gave almost a smile. Scampering over to her the little creature nestled itself in the crook of her neck, it's shivering coming to a stop as it got settled.

"His name is Infested Soil," said a voice in Nightshade's head. If she were in a different world and was a different creature, voices that weren't her own in her head would be cause for alarm. But, in the swamp, kimeti had familiars that could telepathically speak to one another. Nightshade didn't have any familiars, but she'd pretty much adopted the mongoose, who was asleep beside her, as her pet.
Looking over, Nightshade saw a magnificent moth, also the same colors as she, with the design on her front legs on it's wings. "Who are you? Were you sent to me?" she asked. The moth seemed to nod, referring to the second question. "I am Moonshine. I caught your scent on the wind and found you here. I felt that with you was where I should be."
Nightshade was a little surprised to end up with two companions in one day, but who was she to complain? Beckoning Moonshine over, she let her land on her back and relax. Together, all three of them snoozed in the sun, basking in its rays.
