Padding along gently, Tivoli was moving quicker than usual. It wasn't for anything in particular- rather, she was just in the mood to be moving fast. It seemed like such a good day, with the sun in a descending area in the sky. It wasn't setting, but it was far past afternoon now. It was warm, as well, and Tivoli loved the warmth. She had been named after a day like this- the warm summer heat had inspired her mother when she was born.

Lately, she had just been wandering around, with no real idea of what she wanted to do. She had thought about settling somewhere before, but couldn't find the right fit in any of the areas she had visited. The open plains seemed so nice, for now. In truth, she was just looking for a place that had a good sunset to watch every day.

A pink tongue licked lazily across the lioness' paw pad, cleaning off excess dirt and bits of whatever she had touched with it. Aislin was currently sitting under the shade of a tree. Her mind was distracted with her bath, while her eyes gazed out across the plains in front of her. She wasn't in a particular hurry, punctuated by her leisurely movements, and so she took care to clear out the harder to reach places between her claws.

Aislin hummed quietly to herself, enjoying the solitude and freedom that came from being a rogue. Granted, if she were ever in a bind, she would be on her own, but for now, this was a lifestyle that she was both used to and reveled in. No one to take care of, no one to care what you do, no obligations bar not trespassing on a pride's territory... no, she would not trade this for anything.

Keeping her green eyes ahead of her, Tivoli continued to move quickly. This time of day seemed to give her so much energy, so she imagined that she'd be running until the moon was high in the night sky.

Unless, that is, she saw something.

Which is exactly what she did. Just a few yards before her in the grass, a dark figure lay. She couldn't really tell, but it looked enough like a lion. With a small smile on her face, she went closer, with no ability to see danger that strangers could possess. Her mother had tried to smash her naiveté, but none of her words had had any affect on the then-young Tivoli.

"Hi there!" Calling out, it looked like the figure before her was a lioness.

Aislin pulled her head back slightly to inspect her paw, before nodding in satisfaction and setting her arm down in front of her. Shifting herself in place so she was leaning on her other side, she then lifted her other paw and began cleaning it. Now that one was finished, it was time to start on the other.

A black ear flicked up in attention at the sound of a voice calling out. Pausing mid-lick, she turned her head around and blinked at the orange colored lioness standing a little ways away. The first thought to come to her was, 'She's very bright.' The next was, 'Is she talking to me?' A quick glance around her proved that yes, she was talking to her, and expecting an answer back, by the looks of it.

All things considered, it wouldn't kill her to socialize a bit. As long as whoever this was wasn't too annoying, of course. So, with a flick of her tail, she answered back with a,
"Hello," before continuing with cleaning her paw, keeping an ear in the other female's direction as a subtle way of saying that she was, in fact, aware she was there.

As Tivoli came closer, sher started to make out the different details on the other lioness. Her belly seemed to blend in with the ground, making her seem impossibly thin at first glance. Her eyes stuck out against her fur like a sore thumb, however, even though they were a pretty green.

"You're so dark...aren't you hot out here?" Smiling kindly, Tivoli really didn't know what else to say. It was just an observation, but she had always tended to talk about the things she noticed. Sometimes it worked out in conversation, but there were always times when her observations just made things awkward and tense.

"That would be why I'm in the shade." Well, socializing did not necessarily mean she couldn't still be sarcastic. Aislin gave the other lioness a side-long glance, eying the smile on her face and wondering if there was anything about her that did not resemble the sun in some way. 'Probably not,' she mused.

Grunting, she shrugged and decided to give a more helpful response.
"I'm used to it. If it really starts to bother me, then I'll find a waterhole or something." She paused, "And it really is cooler under this tree's shadow."

She spared another look at her paw, still raised in front of her, before letting it flop back down with a thump. If they were going to talk, she may as well move her concentration to their conversation.

"Oh...that makes sense, I guess." Still smiling, Tivoli didn't really think the shade made much difference, but maybe that was because of her lighter coat.

"Mm, I can't imagine having such a dark coat." Thinking of it, no one in her family had a dark coat. They were all bright, deserty colors that blended in well with the shades of the savannah. "It seems like it'd make life a little harder." With such a dark coat, how could she stalk without getting noticed? Tivoli would tire out if she had to hunt when she was overheating because of her pelt, too.

Aislin blinked and tilted her head to the side, considering her words. Truthfully, she had never really noticed whether her coat made her life difficult. Of course, she had nothing to really compare it to... except perhaps her stomach fur, but it was never really in direct sunlight all that often, and so she did not think that really counted.

She shook her head, her green eyes shifting back to the brightly-coated lioness.
"Not really." She shrugged, "I hardly even notice it."

Come to think of it, would anyone even know the difference? She had grown up with this coat, and thus she was used to it. She could... no, she knew how to live with it, and so it didn't bother her. Maybe there was a difference, but she had never thought to question it.

"Well, that's a relief. I would hate to see something like that causing you problems. Just think if it did!" Letting out a laugh, Tivoli was trying to keep the conversation moving. The other lioness seemed nice, but...quiet. And while Tivoli wasn't a quiet female, she found it hard to continue conversations with someone who was.

"Soooo...." Inching a little closer to the other female, Tivoli plopped herself down on the ground a few feet away from her. "My name's Tivoli. What's yours?" Yeah, names seemed to be a good place to start. And after talking to her for as long as she had, Tivoli was surprised she hadn't gotten her name yet. "Are you just out enjoying the sun today? Or do you live near here?" Not coming from a pride herself, Tivoli found them fascinating, nonetheless.

Aislin watched through half-lidded eyed as the other lioness - Tivoli, apparently - settled down a few paw steps away from her, not really reacting to how she was somehow comfortable enough to lay beside a stranger, other than a small flick of her ear. Really, how could she be so at ease? Sighing internally, the black-furred lioness replied back, "Aislin."

She paused at Tivoli's next question. Live somewhere? "Just enjoying the sun." She let out a slight murr sound in the back of her throat, obviously quite satisfied by that fact, and why wouldn't she be? Her life was entirely to her satisfaction right now, and all she had to do was steer clear of any nearby prides. "And no, I don't live anywhere, really. I simply wander between the pride-less lands."

"Oh, that's a pretty name." Grinning at the dark lioness, the name sounded a tad foreign. She wasn't sure why, though- but it was such a pretty name, nonetheless.

"Yeah, the sun is so nice, especially today." Looking up at the blue sky, Tivoli wiggled a little as she felt the warmth of the sun wash over her light body. It was so nice sometimes, to just sit in the sun. She hadn't done it in such a long time it seemed, even though she loved the sun. Maybe it was all this wandering recently that had caused her time to slip away...

"Wandering seems to be a good thing, especially when you're young." She swished her tail in the grass behind her. It seemed that it was just sewn into the young hearts, like hers, and she wouldn't give that up for anything, now yet. "But I can see the appeal of prides." She nodded, her eyes bouncing around.

Her brow tilted to the side as Aislin observed the other lioness for a moment, wondering briefly what she could be thinking. All things considered, she supposed her name was... pretty, but, having lived with it her whole life, she had never really thought about it, past it being her name. Giving a mental shrug, she glanced up at the sky at the mention of the sun. It was a warm day. A bit too warm, for her tastes.

At that thought, she paused and then puffed out a breathe.
"It's nice, but I prefer the shade right now." She shuffled in her spot, rearranging herself into a more comfortable position, and then let out a small yawn. "Perhaps that's why I can live with my dark fur. During a hot day, I like to lay in the shade."

The dark lioness closed her eyes, "I suppose a pride would be good in some ways, but I rather prefer my freedom without being restricted by the rules that would come alongside it."

Chuckling a little, Tivoli felt more than a little awkward. She really wasn't used to talking to someone who wasn't like her, but it was a good experience to have. "Yeah, I can see why." She rolled her green eyes over the other lioness' dark pelt - if Tivoli was colored similarly, she'd want to be in the shade right now as well.

"Freedom is....so nice." Her face got a little solemn as she thought about it. It was an odd feeling, and she wasn't really all that sure why it came on so suddenly. Shrugging it off, she re-focused her attention. "I mean, for now, freedom is my best - and happiest - option." Grinning at Aislin, a vision of her future flashed through her mind. She knew that, if she met someone, she'd be much more inclined to join a pride, to settle down.

Aislin kept her eyes lightly closed as she listened to the other lioness talk, her ear twitching a little bit being the only sign that she was paying attention. She could tell that Tivoli, while agreeing with her opinion of freedom, did seem wistful at the thought of a pride, and it was likely a good thing her eyes were closed, else she would have rolled her eyes. This feline would probably end up in a pride sooner or later, despite her words.

After a few moments of silence, Aislin slowly lifted her eyelids and gazed blankly ahead of her. She could tell that their conversation was beginning to become stale, but she didn't want to get up to leave. So, instead, she simply fell into silence. Either Tivoli would come up with another topic, or she would eventually drift off to sleep.

Fidgeting nervously for a few moments, each second of silence felt like an eternity for Tivoli. Her green eyes flicked back and forth as she waited, wondering whether or not the other female would speak up or not.

Taking in a breath, it seemed rather apparent that she wouldn't. If Tivoli had picked up anything on this female, it's that she didn't really seem like she liked wasting her time on small-talk. Not that there wasn't anything wrong with that, but it was pretty much all that Tivoli had to say.

"Weeeeell, I think I've taken up enough of your time. And I should probably get back." Smiling at Aislin, she really didn't have anywhere specific to go, but it was fairly clear that this meeting had ended. "I hope you stay relatively cool today." Rising to her paws, she turned away from the dark lioness, giving her one last smile.
